"Sounds like you’re a bit envious?" Qianqian asked.
"Not really," he said nonchalantly.
Just then, the waiter ca with their food, and the two girls exclaid in delight. Jiang Nian didn’t want to ruin the mood by stirring up trouble; sotis you just have to offer a bit of emotional value.
People should act a bit more normal, or else they’d seem like real weirdos.
"Enjoy your al," the waiter said as he turned to leave.
Jiang Nian wasn’t too interested in the food. He shuffled the cards skillfully and looked at the two girls as they took small bites of their als.
"How about we play Landlord, with punishnts for losing?"
The main event finally arrived: singing, imitating pig sounds, squats, stick-stick... but the last one wouldn’t work. Qianqian and Song Xiyun wouldn’t agree and would probably call him a pervert.
Hehe, getting scolded seems sort of fun too.
"What kind of punishnt?" Song Xiyun asked, a bit puzzled, clearly a novice.
"Kissing and stuff," Jiang Nian said.
"Huh?"
"Don’t listen to his nonsense, it’s just singing or mimicking animal sounds," Qianqian interjected, "or we can gamble a bit more, like with Truth or Dare."
After hearing that, she imdiately tensed up.
"Dare?"
"Minor punishnts, can be swapped," Qianqian spoke like a seasoned player, though she hadn’t played much either, but girls like to pretend~.
Six minutes later, Jiang Nian looked ecstatic.
"Oh ho! I won!"
The two peasant girls exchanged bitter glances, forced to submit to the tyranny of landlord Jiang Nian.
"Did you cheat?" Qianqian was still dubious.
"He just touched his pocket," Song Xiyun added.
Jiang Nian: "?"
"I was just scratching an itch, what are you guys quacking about? Downstairs girls!"
The argunt over whether he cheated lasted for a few more minutes, until Jiang Nian suggested taking off his pants for verification. Qianqian and Song Xiyun’s attitudes changed suddenly.
"Forget it, Xiyun and I will just sing a song," Qianqian said.
The punishnt needed the winner’s approval.
"Alright, let’s do ’What Can’t You Do’."
Qianqian and Song Xiyun exchanged a glance and started singing helplessly.
"The sky seems like it’s going to rain, I really want to live next door to you~~~....."
Jiang Nian took a sip of his fruit tea, listening to the delicate and lodious voices of the girls. He leaned back on the sofa, a smile forming on his lips, and couldn’t help but close his eyes in contentnt.
No wonder the rich love listening to music.
Pure feudal remnants, let enjoy them first... oh no, criticize them first.
At the milk tea shop.
Yang Qiming was particularly tornted; he had just said one wrong thing, and his girlfriend got mad. Her mood changed faster than the weather; he had been coaxing her for over twenty minutes to no avail.
Taking advantage of her bathroom break, he picked up the milk tea on the table and took a couple of gulps.
Just about to sigh, Yang Qiming suddenly heard a bright female voice from the second floor. It seed like two girls were singing... Xu Song’s song?
There weren’t many people on the second floor, hardly a few, and it seed to be where Jiang Nian was.
Was it Chen Yunyun and her friends over there?
Didn’t sound like it.
As if to confirm his guess, soone over there suddenly shouted.
"Jiang Nian, it’s our turn!"
"If you lose, you spin around!"
Jiang Nian’s indulgent voice rang out, "Co on, Invincible Guy, if you lose, let hold your hand once, each of you once."
"Don’t even think about it, go die!"
"So disgusting."
Yang Qiming listened silently, thinking, not you, bro...
He looked up and saw his girlfriend coming out with a Sima face, giving him a cold look.
"Let’s break up."
Yang Qiming: "....."
At that mont, his face turned as red as Tom the cat! Saying she would just use the bathroom and coming out looking like that, he was really fed up with these won who talk about attitude all day!
Shit!
The ga was played for two rounds, and Jiang Nian had both wins and losses.
The punishnts were also mild, he sang "Love in the Year 1000 BC." While staring at Qianqian singing, he made her blush, and did thirty squats.
Before they knew it, it was almost four thirty.
In between, he responded to Chen Yunyun’s ssages sporadically; they had spent two hours at the gym and were on their way back to the dorms, almost there.
They went there at one in the afternoon, so the timing made sense for only two hours.
Because there was still a test later that evening.
Ti spent playing in senior year of high school was actually quite limited; relaxing ant leaving so ti to rest. Otherwise, taking the Chinese test on a Sunday night while being too tired would make it easy to fall asleep directly.
"I’m full, let’s go back," Qianqian said, patting her stomach.
"No need for dinner tonight, I can’t eat another bite," Song Xiyun was tidying up the playing cards on the table, her technique a bit clumsy, "Qianqian, are you going straight back to the classroom?"
"Yeah, you too, right?"
Watching the two girls discuss, Jiang Nian propped his head up and observed, not saying anything.
Young girls are really lovely, and if we could stick together, that would be even better.
Soft and sweet.
Qianqian glanced at Jiang Nian’s expression out of the corner of her eye and couldn’t help but go "Eh?"
"What filthy thing are you thinking about again?"
"Thinking of you, let’s go, let’s go." Jiang Nian got up, taking the sorted playing cards from Song Xiyun, "I’m going back to the classroom to catch a nap too."
Nanjiang Bay.
Zhang Ningzhi woke up, feeling groggy.
She sat up in bed, still a bit dazed. The room was dim, with only the faint lights of the air conditioner blinking, and outside the window, the sky was a deep water-like hue.
After about two minutes, she got off the bed, feeling dizzy, and walked to the window to look outside. Suddenly, an imnse sense of loneliness washed over her.
As if the world had forgotten her.
Until her phone buzzed, breaking her reverie.
It was a QQ call from Jiang Nian.
She took a slow breath, then held it as she answered, her voice sounding a bit caught.
"Hello?"
"Aren’t you coming tonight?" Jiang Nian’s voice was casual, mixed with the noise from the class.
Li Hua’s voice was particularly sharp, layered with a sour and mockingly yin-yang tone.
"Yo yo yo, who’s on the phone?"
Jiang Nian: "Your stepmom."
Zhang Ningzhi chuckled, turning to look out the window, suddenly finding the traffic outside the window quite beautiful. Flowing endlessly, like a stream of light.
"Coming, overslept at ho."
"Then you better hurry, there’s only over twenty minutes till evening study begins." Jiang Nian seed to be moving in the classroom, and she heard Ma Guojun’s voice.
[Li Hua is a dead weight, following that b-word keeps losing points.]
"Okay, I’m getting up now." Zhang Ningzhi originally intended to end the call, but cautiously asked, "After you got back in the afternoon...?"
"...what were you doing?"
Jiang Nian said absentmindedly, "Playing cards with pretty girls."
Zhang Ningzhi sweated a little like a yellow bean, but she was already used to his cheeky talk all the ti.
"What would you like to drink later, do you want to bring you sothing?"
After saying this, she added.
"It’s free."
"Anything’s fine, co quickly, there’s a test on Chinese in the evening." Jiang Nian said.
Ending the call, Zhang Ningzhi turned on the lights to pack her school bag, then went out to wash her face. After that, she woke her dad who was asleep on the sofa in front of the TV to drive her to school.
The classroom was ablaze with light when soone shouted, "Lao Liu is here."
Instantly, a chaos erupted, and everyone hurriedly hid their phones.
Half a minute later, Lao Liu indeed appeared at the classroom door. After surveying the class, he couldn’t help but break into a smile, pointing at soone in the class.
"Were you all just playing on your phones?"
The class erupted in laughter, several people loudly shouting.
"No! No! Teacher, we were studying!"
"Yeah! Teacher! It’s evening study."
Lao Liu wasn’t a strict person, he smiled and didn’t fuss over it. After getting on the podium, he first asked everyone to quiet down, and people slowly filed in through the back door of the classroom.
"I think almost everyone from the class is here. If soone is not, pass it on to them — two quick announcents. The first is that Monday’s class eting is canceled, replaced with math."
As soon as he finished speaking, there was a chorus of groans.
"No way, Teacher, there’s already a math class on Monday morning!"
"Oh no!"
"How can we handle math class both in the morning and afternoon?"
"Quiet! Quiet!" Lao Liu cleared his throat and ntioned the second matter, "Moving forward, class etings will be held at this ti to minimize wasting everyone’s ti."
"Seat swapping will also occur at this ti, aning you should swap seats before evening self-study on Sunday."
