Lucian’s POV
This was so incredibly fucked. I couldn’t believe I had let this psycho woman convince to co here. Now she was parading around, telling every single person who would listen that we were engaged when we absolutely weren’t. Fuck this.
My gaze snapped back to Aiden. That stupid, mocking smirk was plastered all over his face.
"Well, congratulations," Aiden said, his voice dripping with false sincerity. "I’m genuinely happy for the both of you. You deserve to be with soone exactly like her." He leaned in a fraction, his eyes narrowing. "But tell ... since you have a new woman on your arm, where exactly is my fated mate? Where is my child?"
"Don’t you even think about them," I growled, the threat in my voice causing his smirk to instantly fade. I stepped closer, my aura flaring. "You don’t know a damn thing, Aiden, so do yourself a favor and stay out of it. Besides, Alina is not with anymore. And I will never tell you where she went."
Aiden let out a harsh, disbelieving scoff. "You are one greedy bastard, Lucian. You have a whole new woman, but you still want to keep tabs on Alina? I won’t let that happen. But at least now I know you’re no competition for anymore."
With that, he turned on his heel and walked away into the crowd.
The mont he was out of earshot, Ilya gripped my arm tightly, her fingers digging painfully into my skin. "You need to behave," she whispered sharply, her eyes flashing with dangerous irritation. "I don’t like the way you talk about Alina. I have warned you already—no one is taking you away from . You are mine, and only mine."
Before I could even fire back, Emily stepped up to us. She looked between the two of us, her brow furrowed in deep confusion. "Lucian? You ca here with another woman? Where the hell is Alina?"
"Back off!" Ilya snapped instantly, her voice cutting through the air like a knife. "Never ntion that na in front of again. Lucian is my fiancée."
Emily looked completely shocked. She stared at Ilya with utter disgust. "I don’t even know you. I was talking to him, not you." She shot one last, completely baffled look before shaking her head and walking away.
Ilya let out a dramatic, frustrated sigh. "I feel suffocated in this place already. I want to leave."
"Fine," I muttered.
We left the party without another word and drove back to the estate in total silence. The house was dead quiet when we walked through the front doors—until the sharp, piercing cry of Leo echoed down the hallway from the nursery.
Ilya instantly winced, her face twisting into a hideous snarl. "That fucking damn baby!" she scread, covering her ears. "I hate that brat so much. You need to get rid of it, Lucian!"
"Don’t cross the line, Ilya," I warned, my voice dropping into a low, deadly growl.
She rolled her eyes, a malicious smirk suddenly playing on her lips. "Fine. Go tell our new housemaid, Alina, to prepare sothing for to eat. I’m hungry."
She turned and sauntered away, leaving standing there with my fists clenched so tightly my knuckles turned white.
Swallowing my raging annoyance, I walked straight up to the nursery. When I pushed the door open, the tension in my body instantly lted. Alina was standing there, gently rocking baby Leo in her arms. I couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at my lips, but it was imdiately followed by a sharp pang of pain in my chest. I had caused this. I was the reason she was in this position.
Alina’s gaze t mine, and her face softened into a warm, reassuring smile. She carefully placed Leo into his cradle and walked over to .
"How was the party?" she asked softly.
"It didn’t matter," I replied, reaching out to cup her cheek. "How are you feeling?"
"I’m fine," she whispered, leaning into my touch. "I feel much better just seeing you."
She wrapped her arms around my waist, burying her face in my chest. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her tightly against . God, I loved her so much. I never wanted to let go.
Alina pulled back slightly, looking up at . "I actually made food for Ilya already."
My brow furrowed. "Alina, you don’t need to do any of this for her."
"I will," she insisted gently, though there was a strange, guarded look in her eyes. "I an, Ilya is here to stay, right? So of course I should make sure that her stay is... welco."
Before I could ask her what she ant by that, a horrific, agonized growl ripped through the house from the dining room.
Ilya was screaming in pure, blinding pain.
I slowly turned my gaze back to Alina. The innocent, helpful expression she had worn just seconds ago was completely gone. In its place, a dark, satisfying smirk played on her beautiful lips.
"Did you do sothing?" I asked, a spark of realization lighting up my chest.
Alina casually shrugged her shoulders, her eyes gleaming with a dangerous satisfaction. "I didn’t do anything. But you should probably go check on Ilya. It sounds pretty serious."
"I don’t care," I said honestly, not making a single move toward the door. If Ilya was hurting, she deserved every bit of it.
Alina stepped closer, tapping my chest gently. "Just go, okay?"
Reluctantly, I listened to her. I let go of her waist and walked out of the nursery, following the sound of the agonizing shrieks.
The mont I stepped into the dining room, the breath caught in my throat. Ilya was collapsed on the floor beside the table, clutching her stomach. Blood—dark and thick—was pouring out of her, staining her clothes and pooling onto the hardwood floor. She was bleeding profusely, her supernatural power completely flickering and failing as she writhed in agony.
"Lucian..." she choked out, lifting a trembling, blood-soaked hand toward . Her face was deathly pale, sweat matting her hair to her forehead. "I need help... please. It hurts... it hurts so much."
I didn’t move. I didn’t call for a pack doctor, and I didn’t reach out to grab her hand.
I just stood there, crossing my arms as I coldly stared down at her. The agonizing power she used to threaten my fated mate, my son, and my entire life was completely useless to her right now. As I watched her bleed out on the floor, a dark, calculating thought locked into my mind.
Why the hell should I help her? This is it. This is the perfect ti to just stand back, do absolutely nothing, and get rid of her for good.
