"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The sound of porcelain shattering echoed continuously from the room.

All the servants of the Pang Family knelt outside the door, trembling all over, afraid that their master’s wrath would be directed at them.

No one knew why, but after their master returned from court today, he exploded in anger, locked himself in the room, furiously smashing things, and even punished a servant just because the servant glanced at him...

Has the master gone mad today?

"Cao Yin, you old bastard! You really treat that kid differently!"

After smashing a pile of things, Pang Wenzheng’s anger gradually subsided and he sneered.

No one could tell that the ever-disdainful Cao Yin would actually hold Li Qingmu in special regard!

He agreed to marry Long Yue to Li Qingmu because Li Qingmu’s grandfather had helped him when he was down and out. Back then, he’d said that once he made it big, he would repay them by marrying his daughter if he had one, or marrying one of the Li family’s daughters if he had a son.

Later on, he indeed beca successful, but that promise had long been forgotten. Joking aside, how could a dignified second-grade minister of the Dazhou Dynasty beco in-laws with a bunch of country bumpkins?

Pang Wenzheng knew his actions were ungrateful, but he felt he hadn’t done wrong. People aspire upward just like water flows downward; what’s wrong with that?

It wasn’t until the matter with Long Yue ca up, seeing the marriage with Pri Minister Pei’s family fall through, that he thought of the promise from long ago.

This daughter has half of the Cao family’s blood, the humiliation Cao Yin brought upon him back then is sothing he’ll never forget!

He had allied with Cao Wanjun purely for the military power of the Cao Family, so as much as he doted on Cao Wanjun before he beca successful, he loathed her just as much afterward.

Along with their daughter!

Previously Pei Jinheng liked her, and he thought aligning with Pri Minister Pei through marriage was beneficial, so he would not mistreat her. But after that incident, she was useless to him, so he betrothed her to Li Qingmu.

Li Qingmu was just a poor country boy, posing no threat to him, and this couple would tumble in poverty their entire lives, never making it to the big stage!

Yet today, in the Golden Hall, Li Qingmu’s outstanding performance and sharp words nearly made Pang Wenzheng lose face. He realized he’d made a mistake. Had he found such a good man for Long Yue?

He bore half the responsibility for Cao Wanjun’s death, and with Long Yue being driven out of the house by him, she surely hated him as her father, as evident from Li Qingmu’s performance today.

Their return to Capital City this ti wasn’t simple!

They’d co for revenge!

"Master!"

The room went silent, and a graceful lady gently pushed open the door, carrying a silk handkerchief emitting a faint fragrance, with which she lightly dabbed Pang Wenzheng.

"Master, feeling a bit better now?"

The lady knew that once her master got angry, he liked to smash things to vent his frustrations. During that ti, one mustn’t disturb him; otherwise, they’d suffer the consequences.

But as long as the noise inside ceased, it was safe to enter.

Pang Wenzheng grabbed a cup of water from beside him, drank it in one gulp. The cold water extinguished the last traces of his anger.

"Much better. Bingjin, boil so hot water, I need a bath and to change, then go pay respects to the Crown Prince!"

"Yes, master."

The responding lady was Liu Bingxin, a seemingly soft but actually cunning and highly skilled concubine.

She bowed gently and backed out, and just as she left, a man in black barged in, knelt on one knee, and said: "Master, Xiliang has suffered a great defeat; we’ll have to delay our plans!"

"Understood! We’ll lay low for a while. I’ll find alternative ways within the court."

"Your subordinate takes leave!"

The man in black bowed his head and left swiftly.

...

After arriving in Capital City, Long Yue rented a room at an inn. For days, she sought fertile land for cultivating dicinal herbs but made little progress.

"It seems I need to find them!"

Long Yue thought, taking out a wooden box from her luggage. The box lacked any keyholes, appearing as a simple wooden block, but she knew it was a chanical box.

"Knock, knock, knock, knock-knock, knock-knock-knock!"

Following the rhythm Shi Qin had given her, Long Yue gently knocked on the top of the box, and with a "click," it opened.

Inside the box lay a thick stack of docunts.

She found a contact list, which consisted of the pieces Qi Junlian had placed around Capital City. For years, these pieces lay unused far in the fief, but now with Long Yue and her husband in town, they could finally be activated.

"Tianxiang Pavilion... An Xiang..."

Tianxiang Pavilion was one of the finest brothels in Capital City. Many won there sold art, not themselves. Of course, this applied to most, but those wealthy and powerful were exceptions.

An Xiang was a dancing courtesan at Tianxiang Pavilion, graceful and beautiful, skilled in the Hand Dance, highly favored by noble youth. Whenever she perford, crowds would gather, truly raking in the gold!

For Long Yue to establish her business in herbal dicines and embroidery, An Xiang was the best candidate.

"Yun Niang!"

Long Yue put the docunts back in order, closed the chanical box, and went next door to find her.

Yun Niang was embroidering a scarf; seeing Long Yue enter, she set down her work: "Lady Yue, what’s the matter?"

"Yun Niang, let’s go purchase so fine fabrics, then make a beautiful dress."

Yun Niang was montarily puzzled, but then understood: "You’re planning to start?"

"Yes!"

"But there are so many shops in Capital City, it’s hard to open one!"

"No need to worry, just stick with , and let’s go!"

As the two descended the inn, ready to leave, a commotion broke out outside.

"Woof woof woof..."

A small snow-white dog dashed through the crowd, running into the inn, and Long Yue and Yun Niang unexpectedly collided with it.

"Woof!"

The little dog reached out with a paw, swiping at Yun Niang.

"Ah!"

Yun Niang was terrified of dogs, retreating in fear, while Long Yue, quick on her feet, picked up a stool nearby and hurled it.

"Yowww—"

The small dog howled miserably as it was hit by the stool, sent flying away.

"Ah, Tuantuan, my Tuantuan!"

A sharp cry from a young girl outside was heard, and Long Yue looked bewildered, seeing an elegantly dressed girl storming in.

"Who? Who hurt my Tuantuan? Are you itching for a beating?"

Long Yue’s lips curled into a slight smile; she knew this dog must have an owner, but she didn’t expect it to be an acquaintance!

Chang Yao’s younger sister, Chang Lexi!

After entering, her eyes scanned the room and landed directly on Long Yue.

Long Yue hadn’t been away from Capital City for two years yet, her appearance hadn’t changed much, if at all, she was even more enchanting than before.

Won are easily jealous, especially when they see soone prettier than themselves; that jealousy is even fiercer than floods or beasts.

Seeing Long Yue, Chang Lexi was first surprised, then chuckled: "Oh, isn’t this Minister Pang’s dear daughter? Tsk tsk... haven’t seen you in a while!"
