Hearing Zhang Man's urging, Liu Ergou subconsciously nodded, stood up, and was about to follow her.
However, just then, his phone rang. The sound snapped him out of his daze.
He took out his phone and saw, to his surprise, that it was Lu Shuangyue calling him.
Liu Ergou gestured to Zhang Man, who was walking ahead, and then answered the call.
"Hello, Shuang Yue, what's wrong? Why the sudden call?"
Before Liu Ergou could finish speaking, Lu Shuangyue asked anxiously, "Er Gou, where are you? Are you still in the village?"
"If you are, I'll have soone co get you right now! I'm in the city!"
Hearing the anxiety in Lu Shuangyue's voice, Liu Ergou's expression imdiately turned serious.
"I'm not in the village. What happened? Why the rush?"
When Lu Shuangyue heard he was in the city, she didn't answer his question, instead saying directly, "You're in the city? Good. I'm sending you my location. Head over here imdiately!"
"I have sothing very urgent and serious to discuss. The sooner, the better!"
Before Liu Ergou could say another word, Lu Shuangyue had already hung up.
A mont later, a location pin arrived from Lu Shuangyue. Before Liu Ergou could even look at it, Zhang Man started asking questions.
"Er Gou, who was that on the phone just now? It sounded like a woman. Is sothing wrong?"
Liu Ergou didn't hide it. "It's a friend of mine," he said directly. "Sothing very important ca up."
"Let's skip shopping for now. I need to rush over there. I'll take you so other ti when I have the chance."
With that, Liu Ergou turned to leave.
Watching Liu Ergou walk away, Zhang Man couldn't help but pout. "Hmph," she muttered to herself. "'A friend,' he says. Obviously another girlfriend! He's not honest at all!"
"Now I'm all alone. I guess I'll just have to head back..."
She stopped mid-sentence, then smacked her forehead as if she'd just rembered sothing. "Oh, no! I almost forgot sothing so important!"
Zhang Man imdiately jumped up and sprinted after him, quickly catching sight of his retreating figure.
"Er Gou, wait! There's sothing I almost forgot to tell you! It's very important!"
Hearing Zhang Man's call, Liu Ergou reluctantly stopped. "What is it, Zhang Man? What's so important?"
Zhang Man said imdiately, "Do you rember us going to Ting Tian Pavilion yesterday?"
Liu Ergou nodded. "I rember. What about it? I just made a few million and walked away with a piece of jade. Is there a problem with that?"
"I earned all of that fair and square with my own skill!"
After saying this, Liu Ergou looked at Zhang Man warily.
Seeing his guarded expression, Zhang Man shook her head in exasperation. "Oh, co on, why are you looking at like that? I'm not trying to steal your jade! As if I'm desperate for your little trinket?"
"What I wanted to say was, do you rember when we were leaving, a man nad Boss Mi invited you for tea?"
Hearing the na Boss Mi, Liu Ergou racked his mory for a mont.
"I rember. But it felt less like he was inviting for tea and more like he wanted to stuff in a sack!"
Hearing this, Zhang Man couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Where do you get these ridiculous ideas? Stuff you in a sack? I might as well encase you in concrete!"
"But seriously, that Boss Mi is not an easy person to deal with. What's more, you made him lose face yesterday! If this isn't handled well, he might..."
Before Zhang Man could finish, Liu Ergou cut her off. "See? So it's still about stuffing in a sack!"
"I don't have ti for this now. I'll cross that bridge when I co to it. I'm not talking about this anymore, I really have to go. It's urgent!"
With that, Liu Ergou hurried off again.
Watching Liu Ergou's retreating back, Zhang Man stomped her foot in frustration.
Liu Ergou had no idea how formidable Boss Mi was, but Zhang Man knew perfectly well. That man was real trouble.
Even her own father had to show him a certain degree of deference.
At this thought, Zhang Man began to wonder. Should I ask my father for help?
anwhile, Liu Ergou had already hailed a taxi and was speeding toward the location Lu Shuangyue had sent.
Liu Ergou wasn't worried about Boss Mi in the slightest. This is a society governed by the rule of law, after all. I don't believe Boss Mi can do anything to in broad daylight! Besides, he knows nothing about right now. I have plenty of ti to prepare, so there's no reason to be afraid!
After thinking things through, Liu Ergou pushed all thoughts of Boss Mi to the back of his mind.
The taxi sped along, and soon, Liu Ergou arrived at the location Lu Shuangyue had sent.
The mont he stepped out of the taxi, he saw Lu Shuangyue standing by the side of the road.
"Shuang Yue! What's wrong?" Liu Ergou asked as he walked over. "What's so urgent?"
Seeing Liu Ergou in front of her, Lu Shuangyue didn't hesitate for a second, throwing herself into his arms.
"Er Gou, you're finally here! I've been waiting for so long! Sothing terrible has happened!"
Feeling Lu Shuangyue trembling in his arms, Liu Ergou reached out and gently patted her back.
"There, there, it's okay," he soothed. "Shuang Yue, just tell what happened slowly. Take your ti, don't rush."
Under Liu Ergou's comforting reassurance, Lu Shuangyue's emotions quickly settled.
A mont later, blushing shyly, she pulled away from his embrace.
"Er Gou, do you rember when I talked to you about growing dicinal herbs?"
Liu Ergou nodded. "Of course. I grow the herbs in Fengzhu Village, you handle the procurent, and then you resell them to Boss Bai. What's wrong? Did Boss Bai back out of the deal?"
Lu Shuangyue shook her head. "It wasn't Boss Bai. This has nothing to do with him. It's my family!"
"My family's elders are against this venture. They oppose our partnership!"
The statent left Liu Ergou completely stunned. "Huh?" he stamred, looking at Lu Shuangyue in astonishnt.
"Wait, Shuang Yue, are you joking? It's not like I'm trying to marry you and your family is objecting."
"This is a normal business partnership. What's their issue with it? Don't tell they think I'm not qualified or sothing."
"I've already delegated soone to handle all the paperwork. It'll be finalized soon!"
Seeing the shocked look on his face, Lu Shuangyue sighed helplessly. "Sigh... How do I explain it? It's just very complicated."
