Sitting under the rising morning sun, Liu Ergou's brows were lightly furrowed.
Ever since his Body Cultivation Technique reached the 4th level, he felt that his cultivation speed was hardly faster than a crawling turtle—it was painfully slow. Previously, he could clearly sense his progress every day. But since reaching the 4th level, a long ti had passed, yet he felt his progress had only advanced by a negligible amount.

When he saw that it was Lu Shuangyue calling, he raised his eyebrows in surprise.
It's been less than a day since we parted, and she's already calling. Does she miss this much?
A narcissistic smile touched his lips as he answered the call.
"Hello, Shuang Yue? Calling so early. Do you miss already?"
On the other end of the line, Lu Shuangyue scoffed. "Tsk! Er Gou, I never realized you were so narcissistic!" she said. "Hmph. Of course, I'm calling about sothing important. Why would I call just because I miss you?"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou felt a pang of disappointnt. So, she wouldn't call even if she did miss .
But just as he was feeling downcast, Lu Shuangyue suddenly added, "If I missed you, I'd just co find you directly! Why would I call?"
His spirits imdiately lifted. "Hehehe, so that's how it is! So, what's this important matter, Shuang Yue?"
Not one to beat around the bush, Lu Shuangyue got straight to the point. "Here's the deal, Er Gou. There's a dical conference in the city soon. Typically, anyone with a dical license gets an invitation, and as expected, we've both been invited. In fact, the organizers called us personally with a direct invitation!"
"Ah, that thing!" Liu Ergou said, scratching his head. "I feel like you ntioned it once... no, wait, you didn't... Ah, whatever. Whether you told or not, I know now. So, Shuang Yue, what you're saying is...?"
"My aning is simple!" Lu Shuangyue said. "You're coming with , of course! When the organizers called, they specifically ntioned you by na, so you absolutely have to co!"
Lu Shuangyue's words made him frown. The organizers specifically ntioned ? Sothing's not right. I'm just an ordinary village doctor. Why would anyone from the city be interested in ? Besides the won in my life, there's no one else...
Though puzzled, he still nodded in agreent. "Okay, I got it," he said. "When should I co find you?"
"Today would be best," Lu Shuangyue replied after a mont of thought. "They haven't set a date for the conference yet, just that it's happening soon. You should co to my place and wait for a few days. That way, we won't be in a rush when they make the announcent."
Liu Ergou readily agreed to her suggestion, and after chatting for a few more monts, they hung up.
Once the call ended, Liu Ergou started preparing breakfast. By the ti it was ready, Xu Yulan had woken up. He told her about the conference over their al, and naturally, she had no objections. So, after breakfast, Liu Ergou tidied up and headed straight for the city.
On the way, his mind was racing. I've already made so many trips back and forth to the city in just the past few days. If I didn't have people giving rides, each journey would be a huge ordeal. Maybe I should buy a house in the city? If I had my own place, I wouldn't have to run around so much.
The more he considered it, the more he liked the idea. However, just as he was about to decide, he rembered the wasteland he was leasing back in Fengzhu Village. If I moved to the city, tending to that land would be a real pain.
At this thought, Liu Ergou heaved a long sigh. Shaking off his wandering thoughts, he focused on the road ahead.
It took him the entire morning, but Liu Ergou finally arrived in the city and headed straight for the Baozhi Hall headquarters. By the ti he reached the building, his back and muscles ached. Just as he was about to stretch his limbs, a man's voice barked from behind him.
"Where did this bumpkin co from? How dare you block my way? Get lost!"
Liu Ergou turned to see a potbellied man with his arm around a gaudily dressed woman standing behind him, their faces twisted with disgust. When they saw him turn to look, their disdain beca even more apparent.
"Oh my, darling, our luck is terrible today!" the gaudy woman whined, pinching her nose. "We co out to discuss a business deal, and we run into a country bumpkin. Phew! Do you sll that disgusting stench?"
"Yeah, baby!" the potbellied man nodded in agreent. "Running into a hick from the sticks in the middle of the day just ruins everything."
Watching the two of them play off each other, Liu Ergou frowned.
Just as he was about to speak, the potbellied man snapped irritably, "Hey, you, bumpkin, get out of my way! Stop blocking the path! Can you even read? What are you gawking at? Now, get lost!"
Liu Ergou hadn't planned on making a fuss, but his expression darkened at the man's words. This potbellied guy is clearly trying to pick a fight.
