He Mingxue's words made Liu Ergou's expression darken.
"This... this woman! Why does she always have to be so blunt?" he thought. "And the truths she tells are always the kind I can't refute. It's infuriating."
Although what He Mingxue said was true, Liu Ergou had no intention of admitting it.
If I admit it, I'll look like a complete idiot.
"Ms. He, co on! Am I that kind of person?" Liu Ergou said, looking earnestly into her eyes.
But He Mingxue didn't believe him one bit.
"Oh, please!" she scoffed. "The sll of perfu on you hasn't even faded. Do you really think my nose doesn't work? It's not like I have sinus problems!" After speaking, she gave him a huge eye-roll.
Liu Ergou's heart sank when he heard this.
I was careless! I completely forgot about the perfu.
And yet, even so, Liu Ergou remained completely unfazed.
"Ahem, isn't it normal to sll like perfu?" Liu Ergou said with a straight face. "A new product I'm developing had a small problem. My business partner is a woman, and I was just in her office for a bit. It would be weirder if I *didn't* sll of perfu!"
He Mingxue had been ready to press the issue, but her curiosity was piqued when she heard Liu Ergou ntion a new product.
"A new product? What is it?" she asked curiously.
Liu Ergou didn't hide anything, telling her all about the Snow Skin Cream.
As soon as He Mingxue heard about the Snow Skin Cream, she imdiately held out her hand, asking for a sample.
But Liu Ergou shook his head, refusing her.
"Ms. He, that cream doesn't even have an approval number yet. How could I dare give it to you?" he explained. "Besides, as a businessperson, you should understand that one small oversight can be a fatal blow. I absolutely will not release this product before it gets its approval number. Besides, Snow Skin Cream isn't even in mass production yet! I literally don't have a third bottle!"
After hearing his explanation, He Mingxue nodded. "Fine, I understand. If you don't have any, you don't have any."
"But let's make a deal," she added. "When Snow Skin Cream is mass-produced, I have to get the very first batch. Got it?"
For Liu Ergou, this condition couldn't have been simpler.
He imdiately puffed out his chest and assured her, "Don't worry, Ms. He. That's an easy request for ! The first batch will definitely be saved for you!"
Hearing Liu Ergou's guarantee, He Mingxue finally nodded in satisfaction. And just like that, the issue of the perfu scent on him was successfully dropped.
He Mingxue lay in Liu Ergou's arms, making idle conversation with him.
As she was lying there, she seed to rember sothing and sat up abruptly. "Oh, right, Er Gou," she said to Liu Ergou, "didn't you tell last ti that there was sothing wrong with my foundation?"
Liu Ergou nodded. "Yes, there is. It contains a hallucinogen. Luckily, the concentration wasn't too high, and you hadn't been using it for long, so it didn't cause any major harm."
"Why are you suddenly asking about this?"
Instead of answering imdiately, He Mingxue got up and walked over to the vanity. She picked up an unopened bottle of foundation and dangled it in front of Liu Ergou.
"Look, this is my new foundation! I even switched brands!" she said. "I'm telling you this because I want you to check if this new foundation also has that stuff you were talking about."
With that, He Mingxue opened the box, took out the foundation, and handed it to Liu Ergou.
Liu Ergou took the foundation, squeezed a little onto the back of his hand, and sniffed it carefully.
The mont he slled it, his brow furrowed tightly.
Seeing his reaction, He Mingxue's heart sank.
Don't tell my new foundation has that stuff in it too?
After a mont's hesitation, He Mingxue asked tentatively, "Er Gou, say sothing! Does my new foundation have that stuff in it?"
However, Liu Ergou didn't answer her. He just squeezed out another dab of the foundation and examined it closely.
When Liu Ergou didn't answer, He Mingxue muttered to herself, "There can't be a problem, it's a brand-new bottle! Even if sothing is wrong, at worst it's just excessive heavy tals, making it unusable."
The mont she finished speaking, Liu Ergou said, "Ms. He, we should call the police. This is beyond what I can handle. It's best to let the professionals deal with it."
At his words, He Mingxue's eyes widened. "What do you an, Er Gou?" she asked, shocked. "Are you saying this foundation has that stuff in it too?"
Liu Ergou nodded. "Yes, it has the hallucinogen in it. And the concentration is much higher than before."
Hearing this, He Mingxue froze. She stared at the foundation in Liu Ergou's hand, speechless for a long ti.
He Mingxue sat there in a daze for a long while before she finally spoke.
"How is that possible? This foundation was brand new, completely sealed. To add sothing to it, they would've had to buy the entire factory. How else could they do it?"
"Besides, while I may have offended plenty of people in the business world, none of them hate *that* much!"
"Losing out in business just ans you were outplayed. There's no need to bring it into soone's personal life!"
As she spoke, He Mingxue sighed, her expression troubled.
Liu Ergou, sitting beside her, remained silent, his brow furrowed in thought.
The two of them sat in tense silence for several more minutes.
Just then, Liu Ergou, still frowning in thought, suddenly asked, "Ms. He, let ask you sothing. Besides you, who else has handled this foundation?"
Without even thinking, He Mingxue replied, "Besides , the only other person would be my housekeeper."
The mont the words left her mouth, she realized their implication.
"What? Er Gou, are you suggesting my housekeeper tampered with my makeup?!"
Still in disbelief, she murmured to herself, "That can't be it... The housekeeper has no reason to harm ! I pay her double the market rate. Unless she's out of her mind, why would she? I doubt anyone else would offer her that much!"
