The vacation that had been arranged was suddenly canceled just like that. Who could possibly be happy about sothing like that?
Well, it’s not to say *no one* would be happy. Perhaps so workaholics might enjoy it. Like a certain yellow sponge, for example.
Seeing Han Jiajia’s unhappy face, Liu Ergou hurried over to comfort her. "It’s alright, Jia Jia," he said softly. "So what if we can’t watch the movie? It’s no big deal. Don’t forget, I’m staying here tonight. We can just watch it then. We have tomorrow off anyway, so we could even pull an all-nighter watching movies if we want."
"Alright, don’t be upset. Co on, let drive you to work. Call when you get off, and I’ll co pick you up, okay?"
Under Liu Ergou’s comforting words, Han Jiajia’s expression finally softened a little. Still looking displeased, she changed her clothes, walked downstairs with a huff, and got into Liu Ergou’s car to go to work.
Soon, the two arrived at the police station. Han Jiajia went inside to work, while Liu Ergou sat alone in his car, lost in thought.
Just as he beca completely engrossed, soone suddenly knocked on his window.
Puzzled, Liu Ergou turned his head and saw Han Jiajia. He rolled down the window and asked, "What’s wrong, Jia Jia? Why the sudden knock? Did you forget sothing? Or did they give you the day off again?"
Han Jiajia didn’t answer imdiately. Instead, she took a key from her purse and handed it to Liu Ergou.
"Er Gou," she said, "if you have nowhere to go this afternoon, head over to my place. This is my house key. When you get there, you’ll find another key in my nightstand. That one is yours to keep from now on."
After speaking, she glanced around furtively. Making sure no one was watching, she leaned in and gave Liu Ergou a quick peck on the cheek, as light as a dragonfly skimming the water’s surface. Then, without a backward glance, she turned and walked back into the police station.
Watching her retreating figure, Liu Ergou was stunned for a mont before bursting into laughter.
This ans Han Jiajia has completely and utterly accepted . Otherwise, she never would have said or done that. And she even took the initiative to kiss before she left!
The more Liu Ergou thought about it, the happier he beca. He started the car and drove straight to the supermarket. Tonight, he was determined to cook a grand feast for Han Jiajia to show her his true culinary skills.
A little over ten minutes later, Liu Ergou arrived at the largest supermarket in the city and parked in the lot. He got out of his car and was about to head inside to select the ingredients for dinner when two n suddenly appeared from nowhere.
They flanked him, one on each side, and began to forcibly lead him away.
Seeing their actions, Liu Ergou asked coldly, "What do you two think you’re doing? Are you trying to kidnap in broad daylight?"
One of the n sneered. "Kidnap you? Are you even worth it?"
He continued, "Heh, I suggest you keep your mouth shut from now on. Don’t say a single useless word and just co with us. If you keep spouting nonsense, my brother and I won’t mind crippling you! When that happens, you’d better not scream in pain!"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou raised an eyebrow.
I get it. They’re here for .
As for why they were targeting him, Liu Ergou couldn’t figure it out right away, mainly because he had far too many enemies. If I tried to list them one by one, I’d probably never figure out which one sent them.
To get the answer as quickly as possible, he opted for the most direct thod: asking them.
"Fine, I’ll go with you, but you have to tell who I offended," he said. "Following you blindly doesn’t sit right with . You have to tell sothing, right? I’d rather not die in ignorance!"
The two n didn’t reply imdiately. Instead, they exchanged a glance as if confirming sothing.
Then, one of them said, "Hmph, so you really don’t know anything, do you? Fine, let jog your mory: this morning, fifth basent level. Ring any bells?"
The mont he said that, Liu Ergou understood. It was the people from the casino coming to cause trouble.
To be fair, they’re incredibly fast. I made a move this morning, and they’re already here this afternoon. Kudos for their speed.
Now that he knew what was going on, Liu Ergou said nothing more and followed the two n out of the supermarket parking lot. They walked a considerable distance until the trio arrived at a small alley. Once inside, the two n finally released him.
At the sa ti, five other n seed to appear out of thin air, surrounding Liu Ergou. They were all dressed in Tang-style robes embroidered with a dragon design and sported buzz cuts. Even through their clothes, it was obvious their builds were powerful.
No doubt about it, these guys must be Ancient Martial Artists.
Looking at the five n before him, Liu Ergou felt no fear. Instead, he clasped his hands in a formal salute and said, "Gentlen, I already know who sent you. You’re from the casino, aren’t you?"
The five n ignored his words. They simply raised their hands, preparing to attack.
Seeing them getting ready to fight without a word, Liu Ergou was caught off guard. Why aren’t they talking? They’re just going straight for it. This isn’t how I thought this would go.
As they were about to make their move, Liu Ergou had a mont of inspiration and bellowed, "Stop! Do you have any idea who my master is? I’m telling you, his na alone will scare you witless! My master is—"
Before Liu Ergou could finish, one of the five n cut him off.
"Kid, listen up. I don’t care who your master is. If you dare cause trouble at our establishnt, you will die today! Even if you’re an Ancient Martial Artist, you won’t escape. You can use your internal energy to alter the dice, so you must be at the Hidden Jin stage.
"Too bad for you. All five of us are at the late Hidden Jin stage, while you’re at the mid-stage at best. Say no more. Just accept your death! The five of us are fast. You won’t feel a thing."
With that, the five n adopted their fighting stances, ready to strike.
