But it was no use saying anything now; the people had already left.

Thinking of this, Han Jiajia couldn’t help but sigh.
Just then, Liu Ergou suddenly asked, "Right, Jia Jia, I almost forgot to ask. How’s the situation with Feng Chunling’s family? Has everything been taken care of?"
Hearing Liu Ergou’s words, Han Jiajia imdiately replied, "I asked about it as soon as I got back to work. It’s all been handled. They had just left a short while before you called."
Once he confird there were no issues on Feng Chunling’s end, Liu Ergou drove Han Jiajia and the other police officers back to the station.
After dropping Han Jiajia off at the police station, Liu Ergou intended to return to the supermarket to continue his shopping, since he still had to cook dinner. But before he could leave, a police officer suddenly said to him, "Sir, please don’t go yet. There’s sothing we’ll need your assistance with shortly."
Hearing this, Liu Ergou was sowhat puzzled.
"Huh? What do you need my assistance for? I don’t think I can be of much help."
Seeing Liu Ergou’s puzzled expression, the police officer said, "I’m not exactly sure of the specifics. Just wait a bit longer. I heard the Chief wants to see you, and Han Jiajia has already gone to et him."
Hearing that the Chief wanted to see him, Liu Ergou grew even more confused. This ti, however, he didn’t ask any questions. He simply nodded in acknowledgnt, sat down obediently, and began to wait.
「About ten or so minutes later,」
A police officer ca over and told Liu Ergou to go to the Chief’s office, saying the Chief was waiting for him. Liu Ergou didn’t waste any ti, imdiately standing up and heading for the office.
Just as Liu Ergou arrived at the Chief’s office door, he suddenly heard a loud commotion from inside. Out of curiosity, he stood there and listened carefully. He quickly realized one of the people arguing was Han Jiajia.
As for who she’s arguing with... more than likely, it has to be the Chief! What’s going on? How did Jiajia end up arguing with the Chief? And what could they possibly have to argue about?
At this thought, Liu Ergou beca completely bewildered.
But then again, if those two are arguing, why call over? It’s not like I’ve done anything wrong, have I?
Feeling puzzled, Liu Ergou didn’t imdiately push the door open. Instead, he stood by the entrance and quietly eavesdropped. Before long, the Chief’s voice ca from inside the office.
"Han Jiajia, what is wrong with you? I’ve told you countless tis not to be so rash!
"And you? You let everything I say go in one ear and out the other, continuing to do as you please, don’t you!
"I’ll let the past slide, but just look at what you did this ti!
"You dared to act recklessly before the Inspection Bureau even arrived! Nothing happened this ti, thankfully, but what if sothing had? What would you have done then? It would’ve been too late for tears!"
As soon as the Chief finished speaking, Han Jiajia imdiately retorted.
"Chief, you know the situation was urgent!
"If we had just waited for the Inspection Bureau to arrive, they would have all gotten away!
"I don’t think I did anything wrong! Besides, Er Gou is incredibly skilled. Dealing with those people was a piece of cake for him. Chief, you just haven’t seen..."
Before Han Jiajia could finish, the Chief slamd his hand on the table, cutting her off.
"Enough!
"Han Jiajia, do you have any idea what you’re saying?
"Have you forgotten that Liu Ergou is just an ordinary person? What if he had gotten hurt during this incident?
"How would I explain that to his family? Tell , Han Jiajia! Tell !
"If you can give one good reason for what you did, how about you take my position as Chief?
"I’m warning you one last ti: matters involving Ancient Martial Artists are to be handled by the Inspection Bureau. If I find you acting on your own initiative like this again, you’ll be suspended to reflect on your actions!"
Yet even after the Chief had said all this, Han Jiajia still didn’t think she had done anything wrong, maintaining a look of self-righteous indignation.
"Chief, I already told you... I..."
Standing outside the door, Liu Ergou couldn’t bear to listen anymore.
How can my girlfriend be so reckless? She makes look like a saint. Wow, I’m actually a pretty considerate guy.
To prevent Han Jiajia from getting scolded any further, Liu Ergou hurriedly stepped forward, knocked on the office door, and walked in.
"Chief," he said, "I heard you were looking for ?"
The mont the Chief saw Liu Ergou, the anger on his face vanished instantly, replaced by a kind, gentle smile.
This scene left Liu Ergou completely dumbfounded.
Wow, that’s an incredible skill. There’s no way I could switch emotions like that!
Looking at the bewildered Liu Ergou, the Chief smiled. "Er Gou, please, take a seat.
"Don’t be nervous. I didn’t call you for anything serious. I just wanted to apologize to you on Han Jiajia’s behalf.
"I had no idea about what happened this morning. If Han Jiajia hadn’t told , I might never have found out.
"I’m truly sorry for getting you involved in a matter with Ancient Martial Artists. Rest assured, it won’t happen again."
As he spoke, the Chief turned to Han Jiajia. "Get over here and apologize to Er Gou!"
Hearing this, Han Jiajia reluctantly walked over to Liu Ergou, preparing to apologize, but he simply waved a hand to stop her.
"It’s alright, Chief. She doesn’t need to apologize. It’s not a big deal, really.
"Besides, I feel it’s my duty to help you all, so an apology is unnecessary."
Liu Ergou only said this for Han Jiajia’s sake, to save her from being disciplined. Although she had indeed been too brash, he understood her motivations. Besides, he had his own selfish reasons—Han Jiajia was his girlfriend, and he didn’t want to see her get punished. That was the real reason he had spoken up.
Upon hearing Liu Ergou’s words, the Chief sighed and turned back to Han Jiajia.
"Han Jiajia, do you see this? Just look! Ugh, I really don’t know what to say to you anymore.
"I’m telling you, this is the absolute last ti. Next ti, you *must* wait for the Inspection Bureau!
"If the Inspection Bureau doesn’t co and you act on your own again, you’ll be sent ho to reflect on your actions!"
