Just as Liu Ergou was pondering, Ning Hua snapped, her face blushing with annoyance, "Geez, Liu Ergou, why are you so annoying!"
"All I want is to take a hot bath. What's it to you why I need one?"
"Hurry up and think of sothing for ! I feel awful if I can't have a hot bath. Liu Ergou, quickly help !"
After speaking, she glared at him threateningly. Her ssage was clear: if you don't help , I'll kill you today.
However, Liu Ergou wasn't afraid. He was actually quite curious why Ning Hua was so insistent on a hot bath and couldn't just take a cold one. Worried that sothing might be wrong with her health, he didn't give her another chance to speak. Reaching out, he took her hand and began to check her pulse.
"Senior Sister, there's no need to stand on ceremony with ," he said while taking her pulse. "Is sothing wrong...?"
As he spoke, his expression suddenly turned awkward, a rare sheepishness showing on his face.
"Ahem, so that's the reason. Senior Sister, why didn't you tell sooner!" Liu Ergou said guiltily. "If I had known, I wouldn't have asked so many questions."
As he spoke, Liu Ergou began to back away. Ning Hua's gaze grew cold, and she looked ready to strike. Just as she finished cracking her knuckles, poised to attack, Liu Ergou suddenly spun around and bolted toward the warehouse without looking back.
"Senior Sister, you just want a hot bath, right?" he yelled as he ran. "Leave it to ! Just you wait!"
With that, Liu Ergou's figure vanished completely, leaving Ning Hua standing alone, her face flushed with anger.
Stroking her stomach, Ning Hua muttered irritably, "Seriously, if I'd known he'd be like this, I wouldn't have co to him in the first place! Always asking so many questions, so infuriating. I hate him!"
After venting, Ning Hua let out a sigh.
Just then, Liu Ergou reappeared before her, carrying a large pot on his back. Seeing the huge iron pot, Ning Hua's mind filled with questions.
"Er Gou, I said I want a hot bath. Why are you carrying a giant iron pot over here?"
"What, is my request too much? Are you planning to stew ?"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou burst out laughing.
"Hahaha, Senior Sister, what are you talking about? Why would I stew you? It's not like you're edible!"
"You wanted a hot bath, right? I figured I'd bring this out to boil a large pot of hot water for you."
"This pot is big, so it will heat the water up faster, and it holds more, too."
"I have a bathtub. Once the water's hot, we can pour it in there, and you can soak in the tub!"
At this, Ning Hua seed to rember sothing and suddenly asked, "You have a bathtub?"
"Is it the one you use?"
Liu Ergou paused for a mont before replying, "No, it's my sister-in-law's."
After saying this, he seed to have another thought.
"Ah, I know, Senior Sister! Don't worry, I have disposable bathtub liners. They'll be perfect for this!"
While speaking, Liu Ergou had already set the large iron pot on the stove. He then dashed off again like a whirlwind to get the tub ready.
Watching Liu Ergou run off, Ning Hua felt a flicker of surprise. I never expected soone as seemingly clumsy and careless as Liu Ergou to have such a ticulous side. This is really unexpected.
While she was lost in thought, Liu Ergou had already taken care of everything with remarkable speed. He even returned with a bundle of firewood, ready to light the stove.
Seeing this, Ning Hua suddenly called out to him.
"Er Gou, wait a mont!"
Liu Ergou, who was about to light the fire, stopped and looked at her in confusion.
Looking at him, Ning Hua said, "Let start the fire!"
"I haven't started a fire in a long ti. I want to give it a try!"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou didn't ask any questions. He simply moved aside to make space for her and went to fetch water.
A few minutes later, while fetching water, Liu Ergou glanced back at the house. To his shock, the building was billowing thick smoke as if it were on fire. The sight made Liu Ergou's hair stand on end. He dropped the water bucket and sprinted back ho in a flash.
As soon as he entered the yard, he saw Ning Hua running out of the room, covering her nose and coughing.
This puzzled him. "Senior Sister, what's going on?" he asked, completely bewildered.
Covering her nose, Ning Hua coughed, "Cough, cough... I don't know what happened! Your stove is really hard to light. As soon as I got the fire started, it just started pouring out smoke. I nearly choked to death, cough, cough!"
"Honestly, I've never had this problem making a campfire before. This is so frustrating!"
However, after hearing her explanation, Liu Ergou regarded her skeptically. "Senior Sister, I find that very hard to believe," he said, looking her up and down. "A campfire? Looking at you, I'd say your delicate hands have never done a day's work in your life."
"Just take a look in the mirror!"
At his words, Ning Hua hesitated for a mont before pulling a small mirror from her bosom and looking into it. What she saw left her frozen in place.
In the mirror, her once fair, delicate face was now covered in black soot, as if she had just crawled out of a chimney. Seeing this, Ning Hua fell silent. How did I end up like this? When I started fires before, nothing like this ever happened.
Seeing her speechless, Liu Ergou shook his head with a helpless sigh. He walked into the smoke-filled room, dealt with the smoking stove, and opened the windows to air the place out. After that, he poured so hot water from a kettle, grabbed a towel, and walked back over to Ning Hua.
"Alright, Senior Sister, stop zoning out. Here, wash your face!" he said, handing the washbasin to her.
However, Ning Hua remained in a daze and showed no sign of taking it. Seeing this, Liu Ergou had no choice but to take the towel himself and gently begin wiping her sooty little face. After so effort, he finally wiped her face clean.
By then, Ning Hua had finally snapped out of her daze. Watching Liu Ergou bustling about, a strange sense of joy filled her heart.
