Hearing this, Liu Ergou couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
"Hahaha, do you two think I’m an idiot, or that I’d actually believe you?" As Liu Ergou spoke, his voice turned cold, and his gaze was utterly devoid of emotion.
However, what surprised him was that even under his intense stare, the two n didn’t flinch. Instead, they looked completely confident.
This left Liu Ergou quite puzzled. Why do they look so sure of themselves?
Just as he was wondering, one of them spoke up. "I know you’re probably curious why we’re so confident! Let tell you the truth, my brother and I never do anything unless we’re certain of the outco! See Hu Jing right now? She might look drunk, but we actually drugged her. We concocted this drug ourselves in a lab!"
"Once ingested, if she doesn’t get the antidote within twenty-four hours, she’ll beco a drooling idiot for life!"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou finally understood their bravado.
While he was thinking, the other man chid in, "That’s right. Look, pal, you wouldn’t want such a pretty girl to turn into an idiot, would you? We know we were wrong. We’ll give you so money as compensation. You let us go, and we’ll give you the antidote!"
"But if you call the police on us, this beautiful girl will beco an idiot. That would be a real sha, wouldn’t it?"
Looking at the two of them, Liu Ergou was montarily at a loss for words.
They probably have no idea who I am. I’m a doctor! It’s no exaggeration to say there isn’t a single poison in this world that can stump . I can even neutralize long-lost poisons, let alone this so-called drug that turns people into idiots. This is just a piece of cake.
But Liu Ergou had no intention of revealing this. Instead, he decided to play along and tease them a little.
He furrowed his brow, feigning deep thought.
Seeing his expression, the two n on the ground exchanged a look. He’s thinking it over. He must be wondering if we’re telling the truth.
Sure enough, Liu Ergou looked up, his brow still furrowed. "Hah. How do I know if you’re telling the truth? Forget the money for a second, let’s talk about this ’poison’!"
"If we’re just making things up, then I can say I hit you both with the ’Smiling Half-Step Stumble’ when I walked in! If either of you dares to take a single step, you’ll die laughing!"
"Do you believe when I say that?" Liu Ergou finished with a deliberately disdainful expression.
Hearing this, the two n were overjoyed. He’s doubting us! If we show him proof, we have a real shot at getting away!
With this in mind, one of the n fumbled inside his coat and produced a small, transparent vial. He held it up to Liu Ergou. "See this? This is the antidote! And let warn you, don’t even think about snatching this vial. It’s made of special laboratory glass!"
"If it’s subjected to too much force or any impact, it will shatter instantly, and the dicine inside will be lost! So, your only choice is to let us go. We’ll leave the antidote at the door! How about it?"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou simply shook his head. "Not good enough."
"Even if you did poison her, what if this antidote is a fake? What am I supposed to do then? I’d be screwed, wouldn’t I?"
The other man imdiately chid in with a guarantee. "Relax, my friend. When I say it’s the antidote, it’s the antidote. There’s no need for us to lie to you! In matters like this, we do have so credibility!"
A smirk played on Liu Ergou’s lips. "Heh, sorry, but I just don’t trust you two. What now?"
"How about this? You give the antidote first. I’ll test it on Hu Jing. If it’s real, I’ll let you both go. How’s that?"
The man was about to reply when his partner abruptly stopped him, saying coldly, "Are you kidding , friend? How could I possibly give you the antidote in advance? It’s obvious you’re just ssing with us!"
Hearing that, Liu Ergou dropped the charade. He stood up straight and said with a mocking grin, "That’s right, I am ssing with you. What are you going to do about it?"
Before they could react, Liu Ergou shot forward. In a flash, he snatched the glass vial from the man’s hand.
Just as the man had said, the vial shattered in Liu Ergou’s grasp the very next second.
Seeing the fragnts, Liu Ergou shook his head. "Tsk, tsk, tsk... who would’ve thought? You two were actually telling the truth. The glass really did break! Seriously, I’m curious how you managed to carry it around. Why didn’t it shatter in your pocket?"
His question was destined to go unanswered. At that mont, both n were sneering at him.
"Heh, did you really think we were joking? We aren’t the joking type!"
"That’s right. We said the glass was fragile, and it is. Look what you’ve done. Now this pretty little thing is going to turn into an idiot. What a pity, such a pity!"
Seeing their smug expressions, Liu Ergou sighed softly. "It seems you two are rather ignorant."
"Did Hu Jing not ntion that I’m a doctor?"
When they heard him say he was a doctor, the two n glanced at each other. After a brief, stunned pause, their laughter grew even more wild and unrestrained.
"Hahaha, a doctor? And what good is that? We specially concocted this drug in a lab. You think you can create an antidote?"
"Exactly! Even if you could, it would take you half a month at least. By then, it would be far too late!"
Their behavior just made Liu Ergou shake his head again. Indeed, there was nothing more to say to them.
With that, Liu Ergou strode forward and landed a solid kick on each of their chests. The two sharp impacts shut them up imdiately.
