After hearing Liu Ergou's instructions, the crowd nodded. Once he confird they understood, Liu Ergou stepped forward and approached Zhang Yuan.
He then produced eighteen silver needles. A mont later, they transford into eighteen streaks of silver light, sinking into Zhang Yuan's acupoints.
Liu Ergou's exquisite skill drew gasps of amazent from the onlookers. The elder from the Divine Healer Pavilion nodded in constant approval. Nie Qiqi, in particular, was so astonished her jaw dropped.
Though surprised by Liu Ergou's technique, Zhang Yuan was also curious. Thus, he asked, "Er Gou, are you going to cure with silver needles?"
Liu Ergou shook his head. "No, I'm just using the silver needles to temporarily seal your ridians and prevent the worms in your body from running wild. The actual treatnt will have to wait."
With that said, Liu Ergou picked up a small silver knife. He grabbed Zhang Yuan's arm and, without hesitation, made a long cut on each of his wrists. Imdiately, blood gushed from the wounds.
Zhang Yuan's face twitched in pain, but he endured it and remained perfectly still. However, he was shocked when Liu Ergou, after cutting both wrists, didn't stop. Instead, he rolled up Zhang Yuan's pant legs and made two more cuts on his ankles.
The bystanders could hardly bear to watch, and many involuntarily closed their eyes. The elder's disciple couldn't help but shout, "You... you're practically murdering him! This is outrageous, simply outrageous! How can you treat him like this?!"
But Liu Ergou was in no mood to deal with him.
Having done all this, Liu Ergou took a deep breath and placed his hands on Zhang Yuan's shoulders. "Get ready," he said softly. "It's about to start."
Before Zhang Yuan could even reply, True Qi surged through Liu Ergou's body. A massive amount of it flowed from his hands into Zhang Yuan. Instantly, Zhang Yuan, who had been slumped over, shot bolt upright. Large beads of sweat broke out on his forehead.
His voice began to tremble. "Er… Er Gou, what's happening? I feel so hot… no, that's not right. I can't describe this feeling!"
However, Liu Ergou ignored him, instead turning to the others. "Quick, soone help ! Hold his hands over the brazier with the wounds facing down! Hurry! If you're too slow, it will be disastrous!"
Upon hearing this, the elder from the Divine Healer Pavilion and Nie Qiqi imdiately rushed forward, grabbing Zhang Yuan's arms and holding them over the brazier.
Just as everyone was wondering why Liu Ergou had done this, black blood began to ooze from the wounds on Zhang Yuan's wrists, dripping into the brazier below. Each ti a drop of black blood fell, the fire in the brazier hissed. As the black blood continued to drip, the fire crackled and hissed relentlessly.
Nie Qiqi, who was holding Zhang Yuan's arm, grew curious. How could black blood be dripping from his wrists? It's so strange…
After a mont's hesitation, she cautiously lowered her head to look at the wounds. The mont she saw them, however, she scread.
"AAAHH! What is that?! It's disgusting!" she shrieked, flinging Zhang Yuan's hand away.
The sudden crisis left Liu Ergou no ti to react. Fortunately, the elder from the Divine Healer Pavilion saw what was happening and swiftly grabbed Zhang Yuan's arm, repositioning it over the brazier. Only then did Liu Ergou let out a long sigh of relief.
The black blood dripped for nearly ten minutes before it finally vanished, replaced by a flow of fresh, red blood.
Once it was over, Liu Ergou let out another sigh, this ti turning to glare at Nie Qiqi.
"Nie Qiqi! What do you think you were doing?!" Liu Ergou roared. "Do you realize your actions just now nearly hard everyone else?! If you're scared, go ho! Stop causing trouble, do you hear !"
Hearing Liu Ergou's roar, Nie Qiqi guiltily lowered her head. But then, the image of Zhang Yuan's black blood flashed through her mind.
She had seen it so clearly. It wasn't black blood at all—it was blood swarming with tiny black worms, even smaller than sesa seeds! Those worms were writhing and crawling all over each other in the blood. The sight was enough to make one's skin crawl and scalp tingle.
As a young woman, Nie Qiqi found the sight utterly unbearable, which was why she had recoiled and thrown his arm away.
Thinking of this, she mustered her courage and defiantly retorted, "Why are you yelling at ? It's not entirely my fault! If anyone's to bla, it's you for not explaining how disgusting and terrifying it would be! You didn't see it! His blood was teeming with those tiny black worms!"
"I was just so scared, that's why I..."
Liu Ergou let out a cold snort. "Hmph, stop making excuses. Did I ask you to look? I told you to hold his arm steady, that's all. You were the one who decided to get a closer look! Besides, the most important quality for a doctor is a calm mind. If you can't even manage that, what kind of doctor do you hope to be?! You should just go ho and go back to being a pampered young miss!"
Liu Ergou's words were incredibly harsh, and Nie Qiqi felt terribly wronged.
It really wasn't her fault! Those tiny black worms were just too revolting and horrifying!
As this thought consud her, tears stread down her cheeks. In front of everyone, she began to sob softly. Through her tears, she stamred, "Sob… I know I was wrong… Why do you have to be so an?"
"I didn't an to... but those little worms were just so disgusting and scary! I really couldn't take it! Sob… sob…"
Watching Nie Qiqi crying pitifully, Liu Ergou felt nothing but cold indifference. He even had the urge to kick her ten ters away.
He knew sothing she didn't: those little black worms she saw were actually the Gu parasites from within Zhang Yuan's body! And they were no ordinary kind of Gu. If they had been ordinary Gu parasites, they would have died within minutes of leaving their host. But these were different. After leaving a host, they would actively seek a new one.
