Mrs. Wellington’s hands trembled as she reached for Lily’s cell phone.
Just as she was about to grasp it, Lily suddenly withdrew her hand and put the cell phone back in her bag.
“You—” Mrs. Wellington began to grow angry, but suddenly she t Lily’s calm and collected gaze.
She suddenly realized that the current situation required her to ask for Lily Redington’s help, and with resentnt, she suppressed the anger in her eyes.
“Miss Redington, you… you tell Joan’s contact information, I… I will call her myself.”
She missed Joan, missed her so much.
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Wellington, but I promised Joan that I wouldn’t give her contact information to anyone. That includes her family.”
Lily emphasized the last sentence with particular emphasis.

Lily tilted her head to look at Mrs. Wellington, then smiled, “Of course, there’s another more important reason, which is that Mrs. Wellington just offended , and I’m not happy about it.”
“You…” Mrs. Wellington glared at Lily as if she wanted to pierce through her.
“You… you can’t do this…” She didn’t dare to say anything too outrageous, resorting instead to play the emotional card.
“Miss Redington, please consider that I’m a mother in distress, and tell about Joan’s situation. Besides, I didn’t an what I said just now, I was misled by others.”

Lily didn’t soften at all, “Unfortunately, I am particularly petty. Mrs. Wellington just called ‘mistress’ again and again, and I took offense, so naturally, I’m not happy now.”

Mrs. Wellington originally thought playing the emotional card would certainly move Lily Redington.

Mrs. Wellington looked at Lily’s slightly raised chin, knowing what the other party was waiting for.

Lily glanced at Mrs. Wellington and saw that though there was restraint in her eyes, her expression and tone were relatively sincere.

“Good, since Mrs. Wellington has acknowledged her mistake, I, Lily Redington, am not a petty person. I accept your apology, Mrs. Wellington, and you must learn to judge people more wisely in the future.”
Mrs. Wellington ca with the intention of teaching the ‘mistress’ a lesson, high and mighty, but within fifteen minutes, she instead found herself being lectured by the woman in front of her.
But with her daughter’s issue at stake, no matter how reluctant she was, she had to listen.
After Lily finished, Mrs. Wellington said earnestly, “Miss Redington, now… can you tell Joan’s contact information, and how she’s doing?”
Thinking her apology would smooth things out, she did not expect the response from Lily sitting across from her to be straightforward and blunt, “No, not yet.”
“Not yet? Why!” Mrs. Wellington almost jumped up.
“Because I invited Mrs. Wellington out to discuss important matters, which we haven’t finished yet. If Mrs. Wellington wants to know about Joan, she can wait until after we have finished our discussion.”
“Important matters…?” Mrs. Wellington suddenly rembered what Joan had said on WhatsApp.
“The matter you want to talk about, is it regarding Ian Moore’s child?”
Lily thought for a mont, then corrected, “No, it’s regarding my friend Skye Brown’s child.”
