"Three million three hundred thousand!"
"Four million two hundred thousand!"
"Four million two hundred thousand for the first ti, four million two hundred thousand for the second ti, four million two hundred thousand for the third ti, sold! Congratulations to this gentleman on acquiring our Lot No. 11."
The auctioneer’s vibrant voice resounded within the auction hall, formally comncing the charity auction as Aidan Lucas and Lily took their seats.
In line with the the of this auction, 20% of tonight’s final sale price will be directly used for charitable relief.
Because of this distinction, coupled with the fact that the auction is fully managed by the Royal Palace Finance Group, and with so many reporters on scene taking photos and reporting,
it was done to build a good reputation for themselves, as well as to curry favor with Aidan Lucas.
Tonight’s buyers were all very eager to place their bids.
After the bidding for Lot No. 12 began, Mason Scott once again raised his paddle to bid.
"Three million!" The starting bid for the items towards the end was already three million.
"Three million seven hundred fifty thousand!"
As with the previous few tis, soone quickly followed suit.
Since the first item appeared on the display table, right up to the current Lot No. 12, any ti Mason Scott raised his paddle, soone would imdiately follow.
And each ti at the end, due to the persuasion from Mr. Scott and Bella Scott, Mason would give up bidding and graciously concede the item.
"Four and a half million!"
"Five point two five million!"
After several rounds of bidding, the current highest bid was made by a guest seated in the VIP area.
Mason Scott couldn’t hold back and was about to raise his paddle when he was suddenly restrained by Mr. Scott seated beside him.
"Mason, the price is about right; it’s not worth it to raise it anymore."
Mr. Scott’s eyes were sharp and precise.
He could tell with just one glance that the blue and white porcelain vase on stage had reached its peak price of five point two five million.
"No way." Mason Scott was unwilling, "We didn’t secure any of the previous eleven items, and if we lose this one too, where will the Scott family’s face be?"
At the start of the auction, the Scott family were on guard, worrying that Aidan Lucas would use any ans to deal with them.
Therefore, when the first few items with lower starting bids were opened,
the Scott family were vigilant of Aidan Lucas’s every move, without distracting themselves with the items.
It wasn’t until the first few lots were auctioned off that the Scott family realized that the auction wasn’t what they had expected.
Not only was there no danger,
but even the evidence Aidan Lucas spoke of coming to light never appeared.
This led to the Scott family lowering their guard.
Thinking it was just Aidan Lucas bluffing.
"Later on, the auctioned collectibles will only be more expensive. It’s just a matter of a few million now, but the bids will only get higher later on."
Mason Scott whispered to the old man, "We’ve never left an auction empty-handed before, Dad. This is about the Scott family’s reputation; we can’t back down."
Hearing the word ’reputation,’ a subtle change flickered across Christopher Scott’s face, "But this vase isn’t worth..."
"This blue and white porcelain vase, even if we bid up to six point seventy five million, we can still make a profit if we sell it a few years later. Dad, let bid on it!"
Mason Scott’s stance was firm; he was set on acquiring sothing to snuff out the haughtiness of others looking down on him.
Christopher Scott also understood Mason.
In past auctions, with either Mason or himself attending, weren’t they always treated as honored guests, with people eagerly attending to them?
When were they ever relegated to a position less esteed, as it was now?
"Grandpa, let Dad bid on it," Bella Scott interceded for Mason feeling bad for him, "If it’s not enough, I still have money that can cover for Dad."
She had been with the Ford family for many years and naturally had her own savings.
"..." Christopher Scott looked at his son, then at his granddaughter, and finally nodded, "Alright, go ahead and bid. Rember, if we bid, we have to win it. We must show the others that the Scott family’s foundation is still strong."
With the old man’s word, Mason Scott imdiately raised his paddle.
"Seven and a half million!" A resounding bid broke through the quiet of the hall.
