Theodore Lucas was called out of the study room by his subordinate halfway through.

She had heard everything outside the study room.

After listening to Tara’s words, Nolan Lucas suddenly rembered the instructions she had given to him.

A few days ago, Tara sought him out, and when she told him to find a way to retrieve the Transforrs model, she ntioned it.
Inside the chip of the listening device hidden in that Transforrs model, there was not only a recording related to Aidan Lucas’s illness but also a recording of a conversation between Tara Hammond and Evelyn Lucas.

Once Simon Taylor had it ready, he brought the Transforrs model to Evelyn Lucas for examination.
Just at that mont, Tara Hammond knocked on the door and entered the study room.
Not daring to eavesdrop on their private conversation, Simon withdrew.

And the listening device, already set to record, was placed in the chest of the robot.
Consequently, a snippet of the conversation between Evelyn Lucas and her mother was recorded into the device.

While others might not discern anything amiss from those words, Theodore might beco suspicious if he heard them.
