Chapter 1700: Chapter 1703: The Explosion Case from Five Years Ago, Exposing the Truth

Mr. Lucas’s face darkened. “Uncle, that’s my grandmother… Can you at least refrain from calling her by her nickna in front of ?”

This old man has been single his entire life, probably because he’s still a virgin even now, and his temper has beco increasingly eccentric.

But while he could turn a cold shoulder to anyone else, he couldn’t bring himself to be ruthless to Grandma or the people Grandma liked.

The ones Grandma admired, he would certainly admire; the ones Grandma disliked, he would inevitably hate too.

Originally, such deep feelings should evoke admiration, but the person he couldn’t let go of was Mr. Lucas’s own grandmother.

Mr. Lucas had long turned a blind eye, unwilling to delve into the inappropriate feelings Uncle harbored for Madam Lucas.

Yet this old man still refused to restrain himself, daring to call Grandma Katelyn Nelson’s nickna right in front of him.

“When I t your grandmother, you weren’t even a shadow yet. When I called her Little Katie, she was just yay high…”

Maxwell Lucas gestured to his leg to show her height back then.

“Your grandmother and I grew up as childhood sweethearts. If it weren’t for your grandfather—my elder brother—taking advantage of the situation, maybe you’d be calling Little Katie Aunt instead of Grandma today.”

“Uncle, let remind you, it wasn’t my grandpa taking advantage; it was yourself who disappeared overseas for five years without a single word. Grandma was left behind in the country by you, abandoned in silence, and then forced by the family to marry out of obligation. That’s why she ended up with Grandpa. But… as life proves, marrying Grandpa at least gave her stability and happiness for most of her lifeti. I’d say it turned out well.”

“Aidan Lucas… you little bastard…” Maxwell Lucas was so furious he blew his beard and glared with wide eyes.

Was it so wrong that he was young and reckless back then, driven by impulsive ideals, desperate to carve out his own path overseas?

In the end, he did succeed and returned. But he hadn’t realized his true feelings for Little Katie until it was too late, until she was no longer his to claim.

Alas, it was all too late.

In this lifeti, he had lost her forever.

He thought of the woman he loved leaving this world before him, thought of the countless days and nights he’d kept vigil before her morial tablet.

“If only your grandmother were still here… If she hadn’t left, I would listen to her in everything, never oppose her. I would’ve… co down the mountain earlier to take good care of her.”

At this point, Maxwell Lucas’s voice choked with emotion.

In his bottomless eyes, a glimr of regret and loneliness flickered.

“It’s not too late now either…” Aidan Lucas dropped his usual playful tone and adopted a serious expression. “At least now, we can still seek justice for Grandma.”

He opened his cell phone, clicked on a photo he had sent to Sebastian Lucas VII, and handed it to Maxwell Lucas.

Maxwell glanced at the photo, the darkness in his eyes growing thicker.

“I know him. If it weren’t for this photo, I wouldn’t have co down the mountain in the first place…”

The photo showed a silhouette.

A man.

“Liam Holbrook, that scoundrel, he’s an utter disgrace! He worked for the Lucas family for over thirty years. Holbrook, loyalty, everyone thought he was the most loyal to the Lucas family. Who would have guessed that this bastard was harboring evil intentions all along? Who knows who bribed him, but he deliberately caused your grandmother’s death!”

At the ntion of Madam Lucas’s death, the veins on Maxwell Lucas’s neck bulged.

If only he had co down the mountain earlier, if only he hadn’t selfishly stayed away on the mountain, he refused to believe anyone could’ve dared harm Little Katie right under his watch!

“Uncle… Take it easy. Grandma wouldn’t want to see you like this…”

Seeing Maxwell Lucas in this state, Mr. Lucas couldn’t bear to argue with him anymore.

He consoled, “It’s been nearly five years… In these five years, I never stopped sending people to track him down. Liam Holbrook is still alive. This photo was taken in South Africa. I’ve already sent people over there. Once we catch him, we’ll finally know who was truly behind Grandma’s death.”
