On the other side, Evelyn Lucas ran out of the house crying.
Since she didn’t bring anything with her, she could only flag down a car by the roadside and jump in.
When Tara Hammond chased her to the door, she just happened to see the car driving away into the distance.
A flash of irritation crossed her gentle eyes; she didn’t need to ask to know exactly where Evelyn had gone!
Tara flagged down a car to follow her. Like Evelyn, she hadn’t brought anything either.
But she wasn’t worried—after all, soone would pay for her when she got to her destination.
The two taxis drove in a line, leaving the bustling downtown area. After driving for a while, they rged onto the Inter-city Highway, heading straight to the scenic area near A City, nestled between the mountains and rivers. They exited the highway and followed the forested roads into a quiet, understated luxury villa neighborhood.
“Ma’am, Mr. Bright sent out to et you.” Just as Tara’s car stopped, a tall and burly man dressed in a black suit and wearing sunglasses opened the car door for her.
Without asking the driver a single question, the man handed over three large banknotes and dismissed him directly.
“Hmm, is the young lady here already?” The car Tara had taken was slower than Evelyn’s, so hers had fallen behind just as they got onto the highway.
“She arrived five minutes ago and is speaking with Mr. Bright now.”
Tara’s eyes narrowed slightly. Just as she suspected—the daughter, upset, had gone to the one person who would take her side.
This girl has such a spoiled temperant. Getting upset with an old man half in the grave—what’s the point?
If she endured a bit in front of Theodore Lucas, she could gain more of his pity and guilt. Why stir up such a scene now?
Sighing, Tara hurried toward the villa. No sooner had she taken a few steps inside than she heard Evelyn’s aggrieved voice coming from within.
“I don’t care, I don’t care… You managed to arrange for Katelyn Nelson, that old hag, to be dealt with—why can’t you do the sa with Maxwell Lucas? That wretched old bastard bullies beyond belief, demanding I kneel to him the minute we et. Who does he think he is!?”
“If he wants to kneel, I want his life. Uncle Bright, help finish him, and I’ll call you Dad right away. If you don’t… Hmph, don’t even dream of hearing call you Dad in this lifeti!”
“Evelyn, you… are you serious!?” Inside the house, the man speaking with Evelyn’s tone was clearly full of joy.
He was an extrely tall and lean middle-aged man.
In terms of facial features and aura, he wasn’t even close to Theodore Lucas.
But aside from this, his presence and gaze made an impression even more haunting than Theodore’s.
Though he had tried his best to soften his attitude and lower his deanor while speaking to Evelyn,
those pitch-black eyes carried a cruelty and ruthlessness that could chill anyone with just a glance.
“Hmph, that depends on how you act. Get rid of Maxwell Lucas for and avenge this humiliation, and I’ll call you Dad!”
“Alright, Dad will handle it now…”
“Ross, stop going along with her nonsense!” Tara got anxious and shouted the man’s real na.
Robbie Bright turned upon hearing her voice, smiling as he looked toward the doorway. “How is this nonsense? That old bastard dares to bully my daughter and wife—if we don’t teach him a lesson, he won’t know the aning of death.”
As Robbie spoke, he walked toward Tara.
Upon reaching her, he pulled her into his arms.
Tara leaned softly against his chest, delicate and weak, giving him an annoyed punch. “Don’t act irrationally. That old man is aligned with Theodore Lucas right now; keeping him around still serves a purpose.”
Robbie curved his lips into a wicked smile, his large hand wandering over Tara’s body.
“Heh, then we’ll deal with him as soon as this matter is over. That decrepit bastard dared to make you scrub floors—I think he must be sick of living!”
