Chapter 1709: Chapter 1712: Deprivation of the Position of Head of the Family (1)
“Who is this…?” Maxwell Lucas asked with a frown upon seeing the newcor.
Theodore Lucas explained to everyone, “Uncle, this is Professor Marlowe, a renowned expert in psychiatry in our country. He also happens to be Aidan Lucas’s chief physician.”
With that, Theodore Lucas deliberately turned his gaze toward Aidan Lucas.
Unfortunately, Aidan Lucas didn’t even lift an eyelid, completely ignoring him as if it didn’t concern him at all.
Theodore Lucas couldn’t help but clench his fists tightly. Hmph, he refused to believe that once Aidan Lucas was stripped of his position as head of the family, he could still maintain his composure.
“Lily, what do we do?” Emily Taylor asked nervously. Seeing Aidan Lucas remain silent, she didn’t dare approach him and could only turn to Lily for help.
Upon seeing Professor Marlowe appear, Lily was actually quite surprised.
Although she didn’t know exactly what Aidan Lucas was planning, she was aware that Professor Marlowe was deliberately revealed to Theodore Lucas by Aidan Lucas himself.
Aidan Lucas wouldn’t have done this for no reason.
Considering that, Lily quietly said, “Mom, don’t worry, Aidan will be fine.”
Even so, a vague unease lingered in Lily’s heart, as if sothing was about to happen.
Sure enough, Professor Marlowe didn’t do as she expected and staunchly denied that Aidan Lucas had any illness.
On the contrary, he presented an array of evidence, along with case studies of Aidan Lucas’s condition, to prove that Aidan Lucas did indeed suffer from severe ntal illness.
“In summary, Mr. Cooper actually suffers from severe schizophrenia and antisocial personality disorder. For example, he has been exceptionally violent toward his own father and has even assaulted his mother. These instances clearly show that he can hardly control his emotions anymore. As a professional in psychiatry, my suggestion would be that Mr. Cooper should retire to recuperate as soon as possible; he is no longer suitable to hold the position of head of the family.”
Professor Marlowe’s words caused an uproar throughout the room.
Even Maxwell Lucas’s expression changed visibly.
As a senior, he imdiately turned to Aidan Lucas. “Aidan, is everything he said true? Do you really have severe ntal issues?”
Confronted with Maxwell Lucas’s questioning, Mr. Lucas neither responded nor defended himself.
He simply fixed his deep gaze on Professor Marlowe.
Professor Marlowe avoided direct eye contact, uncertain whether from guilt or fear.
Finally, Mr. Lucas spoke, “I have nothing to say. Uncle, you can handle this however you see fit.”
His tone and deanor seed to convey utter disappointnt.
So took pleasure in his misfortune, while others vaguely sensed that sothing wasn’t quite right.
But Theodore Lucas didn’t care about any of that. In his mind, Aidan Lucas had simply been cornered by Professor Marlowe’s evidence and had no way to refute it, which was why he was putting on this downcast, defeated facade.
“Uncle, Professor Marlowe is a nationally recognized authority. His words are enough to prove that Aidan Lucas is unfit to maintain this position… What do you think?”
Maxwell Lucas waved his hand, “Alright, I know what needs to be done.”
“Aidan, here’s what we’ll do… You’ll step down for now as head of the family and take so ti abroad to relax and recover. Once your illness is cured, your position will still be yours. Does that sound reasonable?”
Though he said this, everyone knew full well that ntal illnesses like this were hardly curable.
Aidan Lucas had likely been dealing with this for quite so ti; if recovery were possible, he would have already sought treatnt.
“Uncle, how could you do this? Aidan was personally chosen as the heir by the old man and the lady of the house. Are Professor Marlowe’s words supposed to carry more weight than theirs?”
Emily Taylor was so agitated she was on the brink of tears. Seeing Maxwell Lucas remain unmoved, she turned to the others for support.
“And you all… After so many years, hasn’t Aidan Lucas led the Royal Palace and managed the Lucas family better than anyone else? What part of his performance ever seed like he was ntally ill? If he is considered ill, then what does that make the rest of you!”
