Chapter 1740: Chapter 1743: Duke Makes a Move
Hearing Lily laugh, Charles Taylor wailed again.
The crying sounded as pitiful as could be, as desolate as possible.
“Wah… Abbie’s bad… Wah… Abbie keeps beating Paul Davidson. She drew so many little turtles on Paul’s face, boo hoo… Abbie’s bad…”
Lily glanced at the ga cards scattered all over the floor. No need to ask, Charles Taylor must have been dragged into playing cards by Abbie and ended up losing miserably.
Lily couldn’t stand it anymore, so she went over to comfort him, “There, there, Paul, don’t cry. Your cousin-in-law will stand up for you and scold Abbie. Don’t cry anymore…”
Lily suppressed her laughter while comforting Charles Taylor, and motioned to Abbie beside her, “Go get a wet towel.”
Little Abbie was too lazy to move.
However, he still listened to Mommy. With a rather complex look at Charles Taylor, Abbie trotted off.
A mont later, he ca back with a wet towel.
Lily took it, lifted Charles Taylor’s face, and wiped it for him.
“There, don’t cry anymore… Your cousin-in-law will clean it up for you.” Lily struggled to hold back her laughter, but to not hurt Charles Taylor’s young heart, she managed to suppress it and gently wiped his face.
Who knew, she had just wiped twice—
“Hahaha… Haha… Look at this kid’s face… Haha, these turtles are really well drawn. Indeed, it’s Abbie’s handiwork, very nice!”
The Duke’s unabashed laughter ca from nearby.
Hearing Duke Redington’s words, Charles Taylor covered his little face and burst into tears again.
Lily was truly exasperated by her father. It took a long ti to calm Charles Taylor down again.
Luckily, children cry easily but also forget easily. By tonight, the three of them were fine, completely forgetting about the events of the day.
The Duke took on the full responsibility of putting the kids to bed that night.
Lily didn’t have to coax the kids, so she quickly took advantage of her free ti to go back to her room and call Aidan Lucas.
Unexpectedly, there was no answer after a few rings.
Lily felt sothing was wrong, so she called Emily Taylor.
“Lily, you finally called…” Emily Taylor’s first words after answering were a long sigh of relief.
“What’s wrong, Mom? Did sothing happen at ho?”
Lily found it strange. Her phone had always been available. If Emily Taylor needed her, she could have just called, right?
“Sothing big happened… Lily, you won’t believe it. Your cell phone had its calls blocked, and we couldn’t get through to you at all.”
Lily frowned slightly but then understood that it must be a trick her Daddy played.
At the Reddington Building, they must have used so device to block calls; to avoid making her suspicious, they only blocked incoming calls but didn’t affect outgoing ones.
Lily sighed, feeling embarrassed to explain her dad’s childishness to Emily Taylor.
“Mom, where’s Ethan Wilson? Why didn’t he answer… Oh, right, you just ntioned sothing big happened. What was it?”
It was okay before Lily asked this, but once asked, Emily Taylor almost fainted.
“Lily, you need to find so ti to co back or talk to your dad and ask him to stop sending maids to us. Your dad, I don’t know what he’s thinking, but since this afternoon, he’s sent over fifty won here one after another, all young and beautiful girls…”
“He even sent soone to say that he’s not at ease leaving you to live in the Lucas family alone, so he especially sent these servants over to let them learn beforehand, to serve you and Ethan Wilson in the future.”
