"Alright, I’ll give you one chance. If you can make my daughter stay, I’ll pay the one thousand yuan!"

The fortune teller’s eyes were filled with resolve as he stared at Wen Ying.

"If your daughter goes with him, her future will be a living hell. I know so people think the grass is always greener overseas—that life is better, that foreign n know how to spoil their wives better. That’s all complete nonsense! It’s nothing more than a promotional tactic deliberately pushed by people with ulterior motives."

As she said the last part, Wen Ying looked straight into the cara.

The viewers in the live stream could see Wen Ying looking right at them, but the fortune teller just thought her behavior was a bit unhinged.

’Then again, aren’t all people with real skills a little strange?’

[Well said, Doctor Wen! Just for saying that, I’m a fan for life!]

[I’m with the comnt above! I can’t believe I found a strear with such solid principles! You know how all the other popular strears on this platform go on and on about how great other countries are, like they wish foreigners were their mom and dad! And so people actually fall for that crap!]

[Born Chinese, die Chinese! I love my country!]

A wave of patriotism surged through the live stream’s comnts.

"Could you ask your daughter to co here? I need to see her in person to tailor the right approach. Only then will it work."

"Alright, I’ll call her right now!"

The fortune teller took out his phone and, in front of tens of thousands of people he was unaware of, called his daughter. He told her his "illness" was acting up and asked her to co over.

After hanging up, the fortune teller looked at Wen Ying with a worried expression. "What if that guy cos with her? Will this still work?"

"Trust . Once the thousand yuan hits my account, any psychological issue can be completely cured!"

The fortune teller gave Wen Ying a strange look. ’Isn’t that a line soone like , a charlatan, should be saying?’

’Why is this psychologist acting more like a fraud than an actual fraud like ?’

’Has the world changed, or have I just beco obsolete?’

The fortune teller was lost in thought for a mont, until a voice saying, "Ti to pay up!" snapped him back to reality.

"Uh... can’t I pay after the treatnt is over?"

The fortune teller had fully slipped into his role; he was now a patient with a psychological disorder!

’But it’s not like a patient’s money grows on trees!’

"No way." The two simple words shattered the fortune teller’s psychological defenses.

He gritted his teeth, trembling slightly. "If you dare scam , I’ll drag you to the police station myself!"

The fortune teller, thinking himself quite clever, added a mo to the transfer: *Consultation fee. To be refunded if treatnt is unsuccessful!*

Wen Ying pretended not to see his smug look. "I’m live-streaming, by the way. Do you mind, sir?"

"I don’t mind! I know you young people make a living with all this stuff we old folks don’t understand. As long as you solve my problem, helping with your live stream is the least I can do!"

[SHOCKER! The fortune teller can’t see the live stream equipnt?]

[I have a half-baked theory... does the streaming equipnt even exist?]

[Person above, get out more! Haven’t you ever heard of high-tech stuff? It’s probably like a pinhole cara, so it’s normal that regular people can’t see it. That stuff is only for the rich!]

[But Doctor Wen... is obviously so broke.]

Seeing that last comnt, Wen Ying almost burst into tears.

’Finally! Soone saw through her tough exterior and understood her true essence! She really was dirt poor!!!’

"Dad! What’s this about your illness acting up?!"

An exasperated voice called out as a young woman who looked to be in her early twenties ran over.

The person following behind her was dressed in all black. One look and you could tell they were a foreigner.
