"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and leave; it’s very dangerous here."
As she spoke, she reached out to grab Wang Hao.
Wang Hao furrowed his brow, but didn’t say much and followed her away from the bridge.
"Miss, what’s so dangerous over there?"
After stopping, Sun Yaoyao looked at the woman in front of her and asked with a puzzled expression.
The woman in front appeared relatively young, with fair skin, delicate features, and a tall slender build, slightly taller than Sun Yaoyao.
"There’s a water monster over there. Several people from our village have been eaten by it before, so we all avoid that area."
The woman wiped her sweat, looking a bit shaken, and said:
"The village chief probably forgot to warn you."
"Oh?"
Wang Hao’s eyes lit up.
This explanation made clear why there were hardly any villagers around here.
"What’s this water monster? What does it look like?"
Wang Hao asked curiously.
He guessed there might be so advanced monster or mutated beast in there.
Such a thing would be worth slaying.
"Not sure what exactly it looks like. So have seen it from a distance; it’s a very large black thing that emits a moaning sound like a cow, very frightening."
"A moaning sound like a cow?"
Wang Hao furrowed his brow.
Judging by that, it shouldn’t be a level three monster.
As for level four.....
It’s probably impossible; if it were a level four monster, this small village likely wouldn’t exist anymore.
It’s probably an infected animal, like those mutated rats, turned by the zombie virus.
A cow’s moo.....
Could it be a mutated water buffalo?
But why would such a thing be in the water?
A giant water buffalo?
"I’m Sun Yaoyao, this is my boyfriend, Wang Hao, and this is his sister Yueyue."
Sun Yaoyao briefly introduced them.
"Hello, I’m Zhou Qing."
Zhou Qing smiled and shook hands with Sun Yaoyao: "You’re really pretty."
"Hehe, and you’re very beautiful too!"
Sun Yaoyao chuckled.
The two engaged in a round of mutual complints typical among won.
"Your surna is Zhou?"
Wang Hao looked at Zhou Qing with so surprise.
"Yes, my father is an outsider who moved here. I have an elder sister who took my mother’s surna, Wang. I’m the second child, so I took my father’s surna."
Zhou Qing explained with a smile.
Wang Hao nodded; such arrangents were quite common in rural Su Jing.
Right after the state was established, Su Jing was more developed in comparison, being the forr capital, so many people fled here, and so married into the community.
Their village had several similar cases.
"Young lady, so beautiful and youthful, don’t you work outside? There don’t seem to be many young people here."
Sun Yaoyao looked at Zhou Qing and asked with so curiosity.
Even though Zhou Qing’s appearance wasn’t quite on her level, she was still a rare beauty. A girl like that would hardly be content with rural confinent!
"Sigh.... I just graduated from college and am looking for a job, stuck at ho I got trapped here, but it might have been a blessing in disguise.
If I were outside, I’d have either frozen, starved, or been eaten by monsters."
Zhou Qing let out a long sigh, her expression slightly dim:
"My sister got married and moved to Modu. When we could still talk, she said she was going to starve due to lack of food. Now... sigh...."
Sun Yaoyao patted her shoulder to show her sympathy.
"Let’s not stay here; I’ll take you to look around elsewhere. The village chief is organizing a feast to welco and treat you well tonight, so we’ll all have a good al."
Zhou Qing, evidently afraid of the water monster, pulled Wang Hao and the others away to another spot.
Wang Hao glanced back at the bridge, then at Zhou Qing, his brow slightly furrowed.
He felt sothing was off, but couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
This village seed even more mysterious than he had imagined!
