Now reading: Chapter 45: The People Plead for Help from Doomsday: I Can Get a Hint, a Sci-fi novel by Running-loving bag.

"Miss Yaoyao, please, co down and save my son, he’s only ten years old! I’m begging you."

"Miss Sun, Miss Lin, for the sake of us being neighbors, please help us."

"We’ve already checked, there’s no ghouls or zombies nearby, and with so many of us escorting you, there won’t be any problems."

.....

Outside Sun Yaoyao’s villa, a group of people had gathered.

Among them, a middle-aged woman was kneeling on the ground, banging her head continuously.

"Why don’t we go for a trip?"

Looking at the people outside through the window, Sun Yaoyao’s heart softened.

"Hmm..."

Lin Yuennan frowned deeply.

As a soldier, she carries a sense of justice and naturally wants to help when civilians face difficulties.

But her instincts told her there might be sothing wrong here.

"Oh co on, you’re a special forces soldier! You’re still afraid of a few ordinary people?"

Sun Yaoyao was speechless at Lin Yuennan’s caution.

Even without firearms, Lin Yuennan could easily handle those few people below.

"It’s not about fear, but once we set a precedent, it will be hard to live peacefully afterward."

This was another concern for Lin Yuennan.

These are the end tis, and people’s hearts are unpredictable.

Though she has so skills and weapons, if others have set a trap for her, she might fall into it.

After all, she’s just a special forces soldier, not a superhuman.

Helping one will lead to another; you can’t walk by the river often without getting your shoes wet.

"Well..."

At this point, Sun Yaoyao also started to worry.

Thinking about the child being only ten, she couldn’t bear it.

"How about this one ti only? Next ti, they bring the person over? If they can’t, then we don’t help?"

Sun Yaoyao suggested a silly solution.

Previously, they had the people bring the child over.

But those people said the child accidentally fell into a trap, pierced by wooden spikes, and they didn’t dare move him.

They confird with binoculars.

Indeed, the child shouldn’t be moved carelessly; otherwise, he’d bleed heavily.

So she had to go.

"Alright! I’ll escort you there."

Finally, the sense of justice in her heart overca caution.

Lin Yuennan fully ard herself, and Sun Yaoyao packed her toolbox, opening the villa door.

"They’re coming out, they’re coming out, thank you, thank you."

Seeing the two co out, the crowd imdiately cheered.

Several n, upon seeing the two won’s appearances, couldn’t hide their amazent and greed.

Lin Yuennan and Sun Yaoyao were top beauties.

Sun Yaoyao had an innocent, youthful look with a voluptuous figure, a cute and endearing type.

While Lin Yuennan was a strong, icy beauty, a commanding female presence.

The two complented each other, satisfying all n’s desires.

"Alright, enough with the chatter, the child’s life is urgent, lead the way."

Lin Yuennan raised her hand to stop them from approaching while her other hand rested on the gun at her waist.

If anything went wrong, she’d draw her gun imdiately.

"Yes, yes, saving lives is the priority."

The crowd agreed repeatedly, leading the way for the two hurriedly.

Lin Yuennan’s brows furrowed tightly, staying close to Sun Yaoyao, remaining vigilant.

"Hahaha, Chief Lin, there’s no need to worry so much; our security is excellent. There aren’t many ghouls, and Brother Zhou cleaned up recently, strengthening defenses too. There won’t be any problems."

A middle-aged man, seeing Lin Yuennan so tense, laughed, trying to put her at ease.

The others echoed in agreent.

"Mm!"

Lin Yuennan nodded.

She knew about the Zhou Family’s three brothers.

Overseeing the whole villa area, anything they did to clear ghouls or boost defenses wouldn’t escape her notice.

But what she guarded against weren’t ghouls; it was the people before her.

Though she spoke reassuringly, she didn’t let her guard down.

Always staying vigilant.

The few exchanged glances but said nothing further.

The middle-aged man continued his enthusiastic welco.

Soone tried engaging with Sun Yaoyao, but the usually lively girl was unusually silent, focusing on quickly moving forward while inquiring about the little boy’s condition.

"Hold on."

Reaching the foot of the mountain, Lin Yuennan suddenly halted the group.

"What’s wrong, Chief Lin?"

They looked at her in confusion.

Lin Yuennan drew her gun, pointing at them: "Step back!"

"Chief Lin, what are you doing?"

The crowd was shocked, retreating while angrily questioning her.

"Chief Lin, we’re just ordinary civilians. How can you, a people’s soldier, point a gun at us?"

"Yeah, Chief Lin, what do you an by this?"

"Chief Lin, this is too disheartening. Once we’re in a safe zone, we’ll report you to your superiors."

...

The crowd hurled words at Lin Yuennan one after another.

They didn’t really fear Lin Yuennan much.

After all, as a people’s soldier, they didn’t believe she’d shoot rashly.

"Hmph! Be quiet."

Lin Yuennan’s eyes were sharp, voice cold: "Now, imdiately back off; don’t force to act."

Sun Yaoyao didn’t question Lin Yuennan’s sudden behavior; she stuck closely by her side, also wary of those people.

She knew Lin Yuennan very well.

Sothing must have alerted her; otherwise, she wouldn’t act this way.

"Chief Lin, what do you an by this!"

They retreated, gazing at her with feigned grievance.

The mother of the boy also collapsed to her knees, crying and begging for her child’s rescue.

"Hmph! Stop pretending."

Lin Yuennan scoffed coldly, her voice chilling:

"You’re not the boy’s mother."

The middle-aged woman visibly flinched, and her cries abruptly ceased.

"Chief Lin, what are you saying!"

A white-haired old man almost jumped up in distress:

"This is about saving lives! Can’t we save the person first? I’ll even kneel down before you."

With that, he knelt before Lin Yuennan.

"Hmph! I said, stop the act."

Unmoved by their actions, Lin Yuennan’s eyes were filled with scorn.

Pointing the gun at the middle-aged woman, she coldly said:

"If she were the boy’s mother, she wouldn’t remain so composed upon seeing . She would’ve rushed over, would be urging us anxiously, not leisurely following behind. I even caught her subtly smiling smugly."

"That’s because you ca out, and her son is saved, so it’s natural joy!"

A middle-aged man attempted to explain forcefully.

Secretly cursing the woman a thousand tis over; the damn woman was unreliable.

"Yes, yes, and besides, the child is truly injured! Even if she’s not his mother, will you not help?"

Pointing the gun at the speaker, Lin Yuennan’s eyes narrowed slightly:

"Do you take for a fool? Fifty ters ahead is a perfect ambush point. Did you set traps or ambush us?"

"Chief Lin, you’ve misunderstood."

They tried to persuade her.

"Bang"

Lin Yuennan pulled the trigger, firing a shot into the air.

The crowd jumped back, faces growing pale.

Finally, a hint of fear appeared in their eyes towards Lin Yuennan.

"If you don’t leave, the next shot is for you."

Lin Yuennan aid the gun at the crowd.

"Beep beep beep beep."

At that mont, beeping sounds ca from her waist.
