The Princess Consort of Jingkang invited her to attend the Lotus Flower Banquet, considering her daughter’s relationship. Rather than saying it was to thank her for saving her life, it was more of respect. After all, she currently seed like nothing more than a rchant’s daughter with no solid foundation. Even ordinary ladies of the gentry house might not think much of her, let alone a dignified Princess Consort.
Wufu is proud but not aloof, nor does she put on airs. If there’s a "golden thigh" to hold onto, she definitely would, because after all, in this world, imperial power reigns supre, and the power can make many people bend their knees, making matters much easier.
Wufu would not block off such a pathway for herself. Who would complain about having too many personal connections?
What troubled her was that they were seeking a daughter-in-law for their son, and all the ladies would certainly bring their daughters. Was it appropriate for her to attend alone?
"What’s inappropriate about that? I can write the invitation for you, can’t I? Just attend as my friend," Changping said. "Now that the lotus flowers are in full bloom, you must co. The lotuses in our household are the most beautiful!"
Wufu hesitated for a mont, but seeing her expectant look, she agreed, "Alright then."
Changping imdiately bead, clapped her hands, and said, "That’s great. Once the date is set, I’ll have soone send you the invitation."
Wufu nodded with a smile.
As they were talking, they suddenly heard the sound of fighting outside, and they both paused, then got up and walked out together.
In the small courtyard outside, they saw two figures soaring in mid-air, one black and one green, exchanging moves. It was none other than Mo Lan and Qing Ling sparring with each other.
"What’s going on? How did they start fighting?" Changping asked in shock.
Jadeite laughed and explained, "Don’t worry, Commandery Princess, these two suddenly had the urge to spar, but it’s all in good spirit."
Changping looked at Wufu helplessly, "My people sure are discourteous!" They were, after all, guests in soone else’s ho yet started fighting.
Wufu didn’t mind and just watched the two fast-moving figures, saying, "Miss Qing Ling has excellent skills."
"That Mo Lan lady is also quite remarkable," Changping observed Mo Lan’s skills and glanced at Jadeite, saying sowhat sourly, "You surely have many talented people around you."
Wufu chuckled, shrugged her shoulders and said smugly, "I can’t help it, I’m just lucky!"
Changping rolled her eyes, looking at her smug face, and felt like punching her!
The two of them stood under the corridor watching the martial match until Mo Lan and Qing Ling exchanged over a hundred moves and ended in a draw, after which the two ca over to apologize to Wufu and the others.
"It was an impulsive mont, please forgive us, Commandery Princess and the ladies." Qing Ling said with cupped hands.
"It’s alright, we were thoroughly entertained," Wufu praised, "Miss Qing Ling has excellent skills."
Qing Ling deeply looked at Mo Lan and said, "I am far inferior to Miss Mo Lan."
Mo Lan just responded blandly, "We are about equal."
After the match, both of them were sweaty, and Mo Lan simply took Qing Ling to freshen up and change clothes.
After disturbing Wufu for most of the day, Changping took her leave.
On the carriage back to the prince’s mansion, Qing Ling said to Changping, "Commandery Princess, that Mo Lan lady was not using her full strength, her skills are far above mine."
"Oh. Does she have any ill intentions?" Changping asked.
Qing Ling hesitated but shook her head, no, instead, the two seed to have a mutual admiration for each other.
Changping smiled contentedly, "That’s good. Since I want to maintain a good relationship with Wufu, I should trust her people too. It’s okay for you to get along well with her."
Qing Ling thought for a mont and nodded, it was a good thing to be able to seek advice from Mo Lan in the future.
