A simple apprenticeship ceremony was completed silently. Wufu accepted a teacher’s gift from Old Mr. ng—a Yellow Jade Pendant, its surface smooth and lustrous, suggesting it hadn’t been too long since it joined its forr owner.
Wufu put it away, looked at Old Mr. ng, and then at the jade pendant in her hand, deciding to give a return gift, she looked towards Jadeite.
Jadeite had a purse at her waist, slightly larger than an ordinary one. She untied it, rummaged through it, and handed over a small porcelain bottle: "Xiao Bai left it for ergencies."
Made from top-grade dicinal materials, these Heart Pills were for ergency use, with only five pills.
Wufu glanced at the small label on the bottle and presented it to Old Mr. ng with both hands: "Didn’t expect to beco an apprentice, didn’t bring much. These are Life-saving Pills, used to hang onto life, cure if there’s illness, strengthen if there’s not, use sparingly."
Old Mr. ng exclaid: "You unfilial disciple, are you cursing to an early grave?"
"If you don’t want them, fine." Wufu unhesitatingly withdrew them.
Although Old Mr. ng was over sixty, he was in great spirits and quick of hand and foot. He swiftly snatched them back: "Who said I don’t want them."
He read the label on the bottle that said Heart Pills, opened the stopper, and a refreshing dicinal fragrance instantly wafted out, invigorating the spirit and easing the heart.
"What a fragrance." Soone took a deep breath, really wanting to consu a pill.
Old Mr. ng naturally slled it too and knew it must be good stuff. He hastily re-corked the bottle and solemnly put it into his chest pocket, patting it as if afraid soone might snatch it.
Jadeite watched, sniffing. It was definitely good stuff, made with lots of top-grade herbs, only ten pills in total. Worth a fortune, five were left here, but Wufu handed them out just like that.
Spoiled rotten!
Receiving Jadeite’s resentful gaze, Wufu gave an embarrassed smile, thinking she must gather more good herbs, or Bai Xiaobai might explode.
"Congratulations, Old Sir, on gaining an outstanding disciple, and congratulations, Miss Wufu. Shall we have a drink in celebration?" Third Old Master Wen congratulated cheerfully.
Others felt inexplicable emotions, but the apprenticeship ceremony was complete, so they could only smile in congratulation, while envying Wufu’s good fortune.
"Today is just the apprenticeship; we’ll choose another auspicious day for a banquet." Old Mr. ng glanced at Wufu and said, "I, ng Songguan, am taking a Close Door Disciple, and it’s worth announcing to everyone."
The crowd was stunned again.
A Close Door Disciple refers to the last disciple a teacher takes, after which they retire and no longer take direct disciples, leaving it to their students to accept disciples instead.
Typically, the Close Door Disciple is the teacher’s most beloved, holding a very special and favored position among all disciples.
Now, Old Mr. ng seeing Wufu as his Close Door Disciple demonstrated his affection and confird her status. They’d just t on the first day and only exchanged a few words.
They didn’t expect Old Mr. ng’s nature, always doing as he pleased, following his heart, just accepting her without much deliberation.
Another point is that so-called "fated impression" determines a connection with just one look. So people, at a glance, resonate with your aura and win your favor, while others, regardless of ti spent, remain distant.
Therefore, fate can decide much, whether it becos a bond, and how long it lasts rests on the two involved.
Fate cos and goes, deepens and fades, beyond the control of such high-level creatures as humans.
