The engagent for the Crown Prince Wei was settled, and despite the frustration of Madam Wang and her daughter, there was nothing they could do. After all, they had little influence, and it’s not as if they could argue with Princess Consort Wei about it, especially since no promises had been made to them.
Still, feeling both irritable and helpless was one thing, but Madam Wang also felt like she had been used to pave the way for soone else. Along with her displeasure, there was a hint of regret.
Did she act too rashly at the beginning?
Madam Zhou’s death pleased her, yet thoughts of the rather strange girl, Wufu, left Madam Wang uneasy. She felt like there was sothing she missed.
In the earlier days, she was busy boasting to Princess Consort Wei and basking in joy, so she didn’t notice anything amiss. Now, her dream was shattered, her mind was clear, and she began to feel that sothing was not quite right, as if a storm were approaching.
As the saying goes, what one fears always seems to co.
That night, while Madam Wang was asleep in her room, she awoke in the middle of the night with a very dry throat. Opening her mouth, she called out, "Nanny Wei..."
She called several tis, but no one responded. Madam Wang opened her eyes to pitch darkness, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw a white figure beside the bed.
Her body froze. She turned her head slightly and indeed saw a white figure sitting by her bed, playing with a Luminous Pearl, its light casting shadows on the person’s face, causing Madam Wang to scream.
The figure extended a hand and quickly pressed two points on her body. Madam Wang’s screams lodged in her throat, and she was even more terrified as she lay stiffly, watching the figure.
The figure wore white from head to toe, with a pale, thin face and a small white flower in their hair. The face had lost weight, and those large familiar eyes — wasn’t it Wufu?
How was she here? Where was everybody? Were they all dead?
Madam Wang was terrified, unable to move, her eyes darting around as she fought the urge to cry.
"Shh." Wufu placed a finger to her lips. "Don’t make a sound, or else I might have to silence you permanently!" As she spoke, she raised the Butterfly Knife in her other hand.
Madam Wang’s eyes widened in terror, and she pressed her lips together.
"Good girl, now I’ll release your acupoints!"
Wufu released her mute point, and Madam Wang gasped, then imdiately shouted, "Help... ah!"
She felt a sharp pain on her face as sothing swiftly sliced her cheek, and warm liquid trickled down.
The scent of blood invaded her nostrils as it flowed down her neck. Madam Wang’s lips trembled as she stared at Wufu.
"I warned you not to make a sound. What good is it to disobey?" Wufu deftly played with the knife in her hand.
Madam Wang looked in terror at how the knife danced like a nimble snake in Wufu’s hand, feeling the blood stream down her face. She suppressed her fear and asked, "What do you want!"
This was preposterous; she had invaded her mansion as if it were an empty realm. The house servants and guards had clearly been doubled, yet they couldn’t stop her. Were they all dead!
Oh heavens, soone please save her!
"I don’t want much, just to have a chat with you," Wufu said, watching her. "My mother died!"
Madam Wang’s pupils contracted.
"She gave birth prematurely and faced complications, losing a lot of blood, bit by bit, just like you now, slowly dripping. Can you imagine how frightened she must have felt?" Wufu lightly scraped the blood from Madam Wang’s face with her knife. "How about you, how do you feel?"
Madam Wang wanted to curse, but she didn’t dare. That knife hovered over her face, and she was terrified that another slash or a stab elsewhere would finish her.
