57: Chapter 57: Mother’s Discontent 57: Chapter 57: Mother’s Discontent Faced with Zhou Xiuer’s tears, Wufu didn’t back down an inch; tears couldn’t solve problems, especially not when a life was at stake.

“Wufu, you dare!

I’ll have grandma drive all of you out of the village,” Zhou Xiuer spoke with a stern tone while forcefully twisting Wufu’s fingers.

The mont Wufu heard this, she applied more force, twisting upwards; she hated being threatened the most!

Zhou Xiuer cried out in pain, her complexion turning pale, and even her lips lost all color.

The children who had been surrounding Wufu looked at them with frightened eyes, keeping their distance, not understanding why their sister who had just been smiling and giving them candy was now angry.

“I’m sorry to you, I’m sorry.

Is that enough, let go, please quickly let go,” Zhou Xiuer, because of the pain, cried and apologized.

Wufu’s grip loosened as she said, “See how good it is when you’re obedient?” She then waved to the children, “Kids, sister is leaving now.”

Zhou Xiuer watched her walk away, anger driving her to take a couple of steps forward to grab Wufu’s hair, but suddenly thinking of sothing, she abruptly stopped her steps and cried as she ran towards her ho.

It couldn’t end like this!

Crossing the village, Wufu saw Madam Zhou hurrying over.

When Madam Zhou saw her, her eyes lit up, and she ran towards her.

“Mother, why have you co?”

“That’s what I should be asking you, what took you so long?

It’s almost dark, I was afraid sothing had happened to you,” Madam Zhou frantically looked her over and asked repeatedly, “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine, see, I’m all right, aren’t I?” Wufu consoled, patting her shoulder.

Since coming here, Wufu had been exercising daily and ingeniously finding ways to improve her nutrition, her figure now sharply elongated, she had grown taller than the naturally petite Madam Zhou.

“It’s good that you’re fine, good that you’re fine,” Madam Zhou sighed with relief, but noticing that Wufu’s dress was sowhat dirty, her brows furrowed as she asked, “Why is your skirt dirty?”

“In a hurry to co back, I took a tumble, it’s nothing,” Wufu explained casually.

Madam Zhou instantly scolded her for a bit for being so careless, then took her daughter back ho.

In fact, with her daughter not ho for the day, she had hardly dared to wander about the house, either busy in the vegetable garden behind the house or locked in the room, doing embroidery.

All of this was because of that man in the firewood room.

Upon entering the house, Wufu put down the bamboo basket, took out the purchased flour, at, vegetables, and handed them to Madam Zhou, along with the silver she had acquired.

“How did you get so much silver?” Madam Zhou looked at the silver in her hand, astonishnt written all over her face.

Wufu glanced at it, the silver, won from running errands, along with what she took from robbing those thugs, after her own purchases, there was still about ten taels left, she said, “I saw so gambling on stones at the market, I gambled a bit too, and won.”

“You gambled?” Madam Zhou widened her eyes, scolding sternly, “You, Wufu, how could you involve yourself in this?

You are a lady of a scholarly family, your father is a scholar, you…”

Madam Zhou’s sharp and dissatisfied voice gradually quieted under Wufu’s glare, she looked at her with panic, “I know you don’t like to hear this but…”

“All right, mother, I’m hungry.

Can we have sothing nice to eat tonight?” Wufu interrupted her, fortunate that she didn’t ntion not only gambling but also robbery, otherwise she would have frightened the young wife to death.

Madam Zhou opened her mouth, sighed, and, carrying the ingredients, entered the kitchen.

After all, it was her own lack of ability that caused her daughter such grievance.

Wufu also breathed a sigh of relief, taking a piece of cake with her as she headed to the firewood room.
