Madam Lu truly felt both rage and a chilling disappointnt, realizing that her man was truly unreliable.

“I’ll kill you, and then pay with my own life, so none of us will live!” Madam Lu struck ruthlessly.
How Zhou Xuennian hated her, but he simply lacked the strength to throw the woman off his back, especially since he hadn’t eaten all day and was famished. How could he have the strength to resist?
He could only scream at the top of his lungs, “Soone help, there’s a murder!”
The cries did attract the Yan Runner, who, seeing the couple scuffling, darkened with anger.
“I kindly locked you both up together, and it seems I was wrong to do so. I will separate you now,” the Yan Runner said furiously.
Madam Lu paused her assault and rolled off Zhou Xuennian, offering a sycophantic smile, “Big brother Runner, we were just playing around.”
“You wicked woman, who’s playing with you… Mmmf!” Zhou Xuennian managed to say before Madam Lu covered his mouth.
The Yan Runner said coldly, “Keep it down for , don’t disturb my drinking. If not, you’ll face severe punishnt.” With that, he was about to leave.
“Wait, big brother Runner,” Madam Lu called after him, trying to pull off the tightly worn silver bracelet from her plump finger. Her fingers were too fat, and the bracelet was stuck.
In her desperation, Madam Lu spat on her finger twice and twisted the bracelet off with the help of the moisture.
“Big brother Runner,” Madam Lu said, kneeling and offering the bracelet with a flattering smile on her face.
The Yan Runner, with a look of distaste as if he had slled sothing foul, took a step back.
Madam Lu had no choice but to wipe the bracelet clean with her clothes and held it out again, pleading, “Big brother Runner, we haven’t had anything to eat all day. Please, could you get us sothing to eat or drink? It’s the New Year, and I wish you great fortune.”
Looking down from his position of power, the Yan Runner weighed the bracelet in his hand and said, “For your sweet talk, I suppose I could give you two small stead buns.”
Madam Lu almost cursed out loud. Her bracelet was worth at least two taels, yet it was only worth two small stead buns? How was this any different from being robbed by bandits?
“What, are you not satisfied?” the Yan Runner asked, as though he could see through her thoughts, and scoffed, “I advise you not to be picky. Your case is still sealed, and it won’t be reviewed until after the New Year is over. For these coming days, heh, you’ll suffer.”
Madam Lu’s face changed color.
