After a natural disaster, nearly twenty people died on Wufu’s ship, mostly won and those who couldn’t swim. Now, thirty people are left, many injured, so severely, with no combat capability at all.
Now, having heard that pirates are approaching, most of these people are extrely frightened, and so timid ones even burst into tears.
"What’s there to cry about? Shut up, or I’ll throw you into the water if you cry again!" Su Luo coldly scolded the boatman, feeling unlucky.
The man imdiately covered his mouth and retreated to the back of the group.
Wufu and Ah Jiu stood at the forefront, watching as one, two, three, four, five pirate ships approached, with the largest one in the center, where soone stood looking over with arms behind their back.
The largest pirate ship was only about five ters away from Wufu’s ship. It’s uncertain if they thought they had a sure win or were simply ignoring Wufu and his group.
"Who are you from the other side? Quickly state your na!" soone from the pirates shouted.
"Master?" Yuan Ye looked at Ah Jiu, finding the arrogance rather displeasing.
Ah Jiu waved his hand, clasped his fists, and bowed to the large woman with wheat-colored skin standing in the middle of the largest ship: "Are you the big leader, Third Lady Xiao of the Skull Gang? I am Mo Jiu from the Mo Family of Beiyan, a trader in dicinal herbs, just passing through. Apologies for any disturbance."
Wufu looked at Third Lady Xiao, his eyes clear and bright.
She appeared about twenty-five or six years old, dressed in a blend of Eastern and Western style, with a head of braids, a cowboy hat tilted on her head, leather boots on her feet, and a silver belt inlaid with red and blue sapphires at her waist, hanging a scimitar.
Her features were well-defined, eyes deep-set, the irises amber-colored. Her skin, perhaps naturally or from years at sea, was a healthy wheat color, giving her an androgynous and heroic aura.
"Oh, knowing who we are, it seems you have so insight," scoffed the first to speak.
Upon hearing this, a murderous intent flickered in Yuan Ye’s eyes, his face darkened.
Ah Jiu said, "Without so insight, who would dare navigate these sea routes?"
"Not only do you have insight, but also courage. And so luck," Third Lady Xiao said to Ah Jiu. "Encountering a rare decade-storm, and yet your tower ship is half intact with so many survivors — if that’s not luck, what is?"
Ah Jiu gave a bitter smile, "What you don’t know, big leader, is that we also lost nearly half our people. As for the ship, it wasn’t supposed to be like this; it happened to land on a massive creature and got flipped over."
"What? You encountered a whale too?" soone shouted. "And on top of it? You unlucky bunch!"
Ah Jiu’s corners of the mouth twitched slightly, can they not add fuel to the fire?
Third Lady Xiao looked over and said, "That’s why I said, you were lucky."
"Well, whether we’re lucky or not still depends on Third Lady Xiao’s judgnt," Ah Jiu said.
"Oh?"
Ah Jiu looked at her and said, "Third Lady Xiao can see that we are a battered group with a dilapidated ship. Whether we can leave this sea zone is still uncertain. If Third Lady Xiao doesn’t want us to leave, then luck has nothing to do with it."
Third Lady Xiao laughed aloud, "You are quite self-aware. However, it seems your companion doesn’t think so?" She looked at Yuan Ye.
Yuan Ye was startled and looked over, eting Third Lady Xiao’s smile that wasn’t quite a smile, her eyes cold and stern, his pupils shrinking slightly.
