As they spoke, the two of them were already standing in front of a costic shop, looking inside at the bustling crowd, all of whom were won. Wufu couldn’t help but smile at Ah Jiu.

She glanced at the sign hanging over the shop entrance, embroidered with the words “Suxiang Restaurant” on top quality brocade, appearing extrely exquisite and elegant. Looking at the people inside, it was clear that this was also a famous costic shop.
Ah Jiu looked at the words “Suxiang Restaurant” and said, “This is the shop of the wealthiest family in Nanyue, the Jun Family.”
“The Jun Family?” Wufu curiously asked, “Did their family beco the wealthiest by selling costics across the country?”
“Of course not,” Ah Jiu laughed. “As the wealthiest family, they have more than just this industry. Although, as you said, won’s money is easy to make, no matter how easy, it can’t compare to salt, tea, and porcelain.”
Wufu naturally knew these things were the lifeline of a nation, and most were controlled by the Imperial Power. So she asked, “Does the Jun Family own salt or sothing?”
“The Jun Family owns two salt fields and is also involved in the tea business. They touch on various other industries, like this Suxiang Restaurant and tea houses. Most importantly, the Jun Family also has mariti transportation,” Ah Jiu said lightly.
Wufu’s eyes widened with envy, “Mariti transport, that’s truly a lucrative trade route, huh.”
Ah Jiu gave a slight smile, “Otherwise, the Jun Family wouldn’t have earned the title of the wealthiest.”
Wufu nodded. If they truly monopolize these businesses, the reputation of being the wealthiest is well-deserved.
People gradually ca out of the costic shop, probably so young ladies and maids. Seeing Wufu and them just chatting here without going inside, they looked over with curiosity.
Wufu touched her nose, having no intention of making a spectacle of herself, so she took the lead and walked in.
Ah Jiu said, “I’ll go across the street to take a look.”
Wufu glanced around. Across the street was a shop selling antiques, so she nodded, “I’ll co find you later!” After all, having a grown man accompany her to browse a costic shop did seem a bit off.
After they parted ways and entered the shop, Wufu brought Jadeite and the others inside. A shop assistant ca up to them with a welcoming smile, bowed, and greeted her, then assessed her attire and began to introduce the costics in the shop with a smile.
Wufu nodded silently, feeling that this enthusiasm alone made one feel at ho. She casually inquired about a couple of the costics, and upon hearing the prices, couldn’t help but stick out her tongue.
The shop assistant, skilled at reading expressions, then introduced so lower-end products, all priced within a few taels of silver.
Wufu picked up the costics offered by the young assistant, examined them carefully, and they indeed looked finely crafted, so she looked at Jadeite.
Jadeite took it, dipped so with her fingertip, rubbed it between her fingers, and winked at Wufu.
These costics, she could make herself, and with top-quality materials, they could be made even better and more refined.
Wufu gave a faint smile, put it down, and started looking at other costics.
She wasn’t fond of using makeup or costics. The fragrant balms and oils she used regularly were all concocted by Jadeite and the others, and their quality was excellent, perfectly suitable for her skin.
Wufu reckoned that costics, no matter how expensive, must suit the individual’s skin type. They should be tailored, but clearly, present-day costic shops didn’t quite understand skin types. They focused solely on whiteness, even if the powder flaked off, resulting in a ghostly appearance, which was utterly uninteresting.
“If you can’t afford it, don’t co in. Picking and choosing, is that fun?”
A sharp female voice caught Wufu’s attention.
