Following his words, Lan Xuanyu led his companions into the adjacent living room—an even larger formation of magic patterns carved across the floor.
One after another, rings of orange-gold light rose from beneath his feet. The radiance emitted by the six orange-gold soul rings bathed the entire room in a dazzling glow. The last ring shone brightest of all; in that instant, silver scales erged across Lan Xuanyu’s body. Brilliant silver light unfurled outward like a halo, enveloping all six mbers of the team.
A flash of silver—and they vanished.
When they reappeared, they were already standing on a hillside outside the city. A cool night breeze drifted past, carrying a refreshing scent, and the rich vitality in the air brought a soothing comfort that perated their bodies.
Lan Xuanyu glanced at the locator he had purchased on Celestial Dragon Planet and gave the others a thumbs-up.
“Control over spatial elents at the Great Beast level really is incredible!” Qian Lei exclaid with heartfelt admiration.
Yuanen Huihui rubbed his hands together eagerly. “It’s been so long since I’ve had a proper fight. My hands are getting itchy.”
Lan Xuanyu smiled slightly. “Then let the dragon-hunting operation officially begin.”
They were now in the outskirts of Xiaoyun City, the nearest city to Fenglong City—far enough away to avoid unnecessary attention.
From the start, Lan Xuanyu had never planned to take action within Fenglong City itself. After all, for Celestial Dragon Planet, dragonkind held paramount importance. Every dragon-type lifeform had its identity docunted and traced. The disappearance of any such creature—no matter how minor—would trigger investigation. Even if they covered every trace flawlessly, the re absence of a dragon would draw dangerous scrutiny. It would only complicate matters.
Thus, Xiaoyun City beca their first target.
“You all stay here and make your preparations. I’ll go lure the target.” Lan Xuanyu instructed the remaining five. The next mont, the Erald Demon Warship appeared at his side. With a flicker of erald light, Lan Xuanyu rged into the warship and vanished.
Since the recent chaos stirred up by the Spaceborne Clan, Lan Xuanyu had not encountered any of their people again—not in Fenglong City, nor here in Xiaoyun City.
After a brief search, Lan Xuanyu quickly located a suitable mark.
A hulking dragon-type creature lumbered down the main street of Xiaoyun City, its gait swaying heavily from side to side. A strange odor drifted from its massive body.
Lan Xuanyu had been on Celestial Dragon Planet long enough to recognize the sll. It ca from a type of “phantasmic drink”—a highly expensive intoxicant favored particularly by dragon-type beings. Consumption induced hallucinations and dulled perception. Though officially banned, many cities still sold it. After all, only dragonkind could afford such luxuries.
This particular dragon was around fifteen ters long, though the pair of wings on its back seed disproportionately small—one could scarcely tell whether they were capable of flight at all. Except for its lower abdon, the creature’s entire body was covered with steel-gray scales. Its swollen belly nearly scraped the ground as it walked, and its glassy eyes confird it was heavily intoxicated. Undoubtedly, this was a Lower Dragon.
As with all things, it was wise to begin with the simple. Starting with a Lower Dragon was the most reasonable first step.
Judging by its energy signature, this dragon—though fully adult—possessed strength roughly equivalent to that of an eight-ring Soul Douluo. Its abilities were unknown.
Lan Xuanyu drifted silently into the air above it and retracted the Erald Demon Warship. With a shimr of light, the Treasure Seeking Beast activated its disguise ability. A heartbeat later, Lan Xuanyu transford into another Lower Dragon whose abdon likewise lacked scales. He descended lightly, landing just a short distance ahead of the intoxicated dragon.
The drunken dragon trudged forward heavily—until a dark, smaller figure dropped from the sky right in front of it.
“Move aside!” the Lower Dragon snarled irritably, clearly unwilling to be obstructed.
Lan Xuanyu let his voice take on a mocking growl. “You’re blocking the road.”
Enraged, the dragon swung a aty arm, claws slashing toward him. Lan Xuanyu dodged lightly—his real goal was not to fight, but to provoke.
“Catch if you can!” he taunted.
Turning on his heels, he bolted down the street.
Seeing its target attempting to flee, the drunken dragon roared in fury. Flapping its undersized wings, it stumbled into a clumsy take-off. The huge belly dragged its weight downward again and again; it could fly, technically, but its speed was frankly comical. Even among Lower Dragons, this one was exceptionally feeble.
Lan Xuanyu glanced back with contempt. “With that speed, you want to chase ?”
He accelerated slightly and darted back toward the direction he had co from.
No one intervened. Dragons—by nature warlike and privileged—were accorded absolute freedom across Celestial Dragon Planet. As long as it didn’t escalate into a battle to the death, even conflicts among dragons themselves were typically ignored.
“Raaaargh!”
Under the influence of the phantasmic drink, the Lower Dragon’s rage reached its peak. An iron-gray halo erupted from its body, gigantic scales sprouting across its wings. In an instant, its wingspan expanded dramatically, catching the air more effectively. Its speed increased sharply as it hurtled after Lan Xuanyu.
