Now reading: Chapter 29: Beginner’s Luck from Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend, a Fantasy novel by AkaShion.

I pressed on the Booster Pack category. This ti, thousands of packs appeared, each with its own unique design and dramatic na.

[RISE OF HEROES]

[CHRONICLES OF POWER]

[RESOURCES OVERFLOW]

[THE CORE COLLECTION]

[ARCANE ESSENTIAL]...

And the list just kept going, like soone forgot to set a limit.

I chose Rise of Heroes. The artwork showed a man in shining armor wielding a massive weapon, practically glowing with heroic energy. It looked flashy.

Then, the pack info appeared on screen:

---

RISE OF HEROES

Rarity Range: Common to Rare

Pack Type: Beginner Booster Pack

The: Balanced Starter Adventure

Price: 500 BP

"Every hero starts sowhere."

The Rise of Heroes pack is a foundational card set designed to equip new adventurers with the essentials for survival, combat, and growth. It focuses on versatility, covering the core aspects of early adventures without leaning too heavily into any one style.

Contains: 5 cards per pack

Total Cards Collected: 0/300

---

So this is a booster pack.

Each one had a different na, rarity range, number of cards, and price. Only ten packs were currently available, their vibrant colors making them stand out while the rest were greyed out, clearly locked.

"How many are there?" Bob muttered as he kept scrolling down. When the page finally stopped, he just swiped to the next one. And then the next. He kept going like that for five whole minutes.

That’s when I noticed a number at the bottom-right corner of the screen:

[Page 5 / ∞].

"I think, Bob," I said, pointing to the symbol, "even after you’re dead, you still won’t finish scrolling."

Bob’s eyes lit up. He grabbed my shoulders and started shaking so hard my head bobbed back and forth. "You know what this ans? This ans infinite growth, baby! This is the dream of every man!"

Not .

"So, which one are we choosing?" Bob asked, licking his lips and rubbing his hands together like he was about to open a treasure chest.

"Wait a minute," I said, stopping him mid-action. He froze, hands still in the air.

I pointed to a section at the top of the page labeled [Starter Pack] and [Level Up Pack].

I tapped on Starter Pack, and instantly, a glowing pack appeared in my right hand.

"Whoa! When did you purchase that?" Bob asked, eyes wide in surprise.

"I didn’t. Our BP hasn’t changed. I think... this one’s free."

We stared at the pack in my hand. It was bright yellow, with the logo Limitless Bond printed on it like it was from so fancy card company. On the cover was an image of a group of people, each wearing different class attire arranged in a circle like so kind of fantasy team eting.

At the top of the pack was a zig-zag edge with a dashed line that read: "Tear here."

It was scarily similar to packs in the real world.

I knew this because I used to join Bob on his quests to buy new card sets whenever a release dropped. We’d queue up outside the shop before it opened, then sprint to the card center like it was Black Friday. We even fought people, lightly, of course. Bob said he’d pay based on how many packs I could grab and hand to him.

Hey... free money. So I helped.

I then tore open the pack. Inside were three cards.

"Wait a minute, dude. You gotta do it like this."

Bob suddenly snatched the pack from my hands. He pulled the cards out, carefully placing his left hand underneath them, then turned them downward.

"Are you ready, dude? This is our first pull ever."

I nodded. My heart was having tiny palpitations of hope. If we got sothing good, it could really help us down the line.

Bob flipped the first card dramatically.

The card shimred bronze, and then the text appeared:

---

[Tattered Cloak]

Rarity: Common

Card Type: Equipnt

Slightly reduces cold damage. Aesthetic only.

---

We both stared at it in silence.

"...What is this?" Bob finally blurted out. "I can buy a better cloak at the street store and it actually looks cooler than this garbage!"

He looked personally offended.

I patted Bob on the back, trying to calm the storm his soul.

"Relax, man. There are still two more."

He grumbled but nodded, then used his right hand to swipe the top card away. As he did, it shimred and broke into fragnts, like glass dissolving into light. A soft chi rang, followed by notifications popping up in our status windows:

[New section unlocked: Cards]

[New card obtained: Tattered Cloak]

One of ??? revealed. Only a gazillion more to go.

We turned our attention to the next card in Bob’s hand. Another bronze-colored card appeared, this ti with an image of... a tent.

"A tent?" I asked, squinting my eyes.

---

[Field Tent Kit]

Rarity: Common

Card Type: Deployable (Single Use)

Sets up a simple resting area for slowly healing over ti.

---

Bob glanced at . His face was expresionless. No joy, no anger, just the expression of a man who’d been betrayed again.

"You really have bad luck," I said flatly.

This was consistent with Bob’s track record. He never pulled an ultra rare, no matter how many card packs he bought. And every ti, he’d end up crying and swearing off gacha chanics, right before buying more the next day.

Still, this card had its uses. At least now we wouldn’t have to nap in bushes and wake up with bugs in our ears.

"Alright," I said. "Last one."

Bob slowly slid the final card up. His hands trembled slightly this was his last hope at redemption.

The card shimred silver.

We both instantly perked up. It wasn’t gold or rainbow-holographic-ultra-god-tier, but hey, Uncommon was still a win in Bob’s tragic history of pulls.

Then we saw the artwork a cute little girl in a green outfit with four glittery wings, floating mid-air like a cartoon sidekick.

Damn it. This fairy’s got better stats than .

Bob’s eyes sparkled like he’d just found a rare treasure. "So cute. Alan, can I have this one? Please?" He looked at with all the puppy-dog eyes he could muster.

His weakness? Cute little girls. Not in a creepy way by the way.

"Just take it," I said.

Bob raised his right hand over the card, and it fragnted into shimring light. He imdiately opened the card section and clicked on the Pet Card.

A soft glow appeared in front of us, flickering for a mont before settling. I silently prayed no one outside noticed our little light show.

Then, there she was, a tiny, glowing green fairy with delicate leaf-like wings and soft pollen sparkles trailing behind her. About the size of a fist, she gave off a gentle scent of mint.

The fairy flew around us, releasing sparkles that drifted softly above our heads. Suddenly, we both felt a soothing coolness wash over us, like life itself was quietly regenerating.

She then landed gently on Bob’s right hand, which looked huge enough to accidentally squash her if he sneezed.

Without missing a beat, Bob pressed his cheek against the fairy. The tiny creature hugged his chubby cheek like it was the comfiest pillow ever.

"So cute, cutie pie. I’m gonna call you Mina. You like that?" Bob cooed.

Mina zipped upward, spinning happily around Bob like she approved the na with a fairy-sized cheer.

I watched from the side, trying not to look too jealous.

Man, I want a pet too!

I then picked the Level Up reward from the shop section. It read:

[Level Up Reward: Pull one card ranging from Common to SR]

And just like before, a pack appeared in my right hand.

"Want to open it, dude? I think my bad luck’s finally gone," Bob said confidently.

"You just pulled an uncommon card! It basically the sa as common!"

"Hey!! Don’t say that in front of her!" Bob exclaid, trying to cover Mina’s tiny fairy ears like he was protecting her from my vile words.

I just smirked and rolled my eyes.

The Level Up pack was red, with a fierce white dragon pictured right on the front. I couldn’t help but hope I’d pull a dragon pet, because, honestly, who wouldn’t want that?

I tore open the pack, and there was only one card inside. I pulled it out slowly, feeling my heart race.

Then, boom! Pure ecstatic joy. I jumped up with Bob, both of us grinning like kids who just found a secret stash of candy.

Why? Because the card was golden, with a shiny SR badge in the top right corner. Super Rare.

So this is what it feels like to pull a rare card? Honestly, it’s the best feeling ever.

The card showed a blade, but with a design so unique it looked like it ca from another dinsion.

I equipped the card imdiately. Blue particles began to sparkle and swirl, assembling themselves into a sleek new weapon right in my hand.

The blade, if you could even call it that , was massive. Not just long, but unnecessarily long. Its surface glead with sleek, dark tal, all jagged edges and sharp lines, like soone had tried to build a sword out of a spaceship. Right down the middle, a line of bright blue light pulsed softly, like it had its own heartbeat.

Near the grip, a glowing core buzzed faintly, casting an eerie blue glow.

The thing had both a blade and what looked like a gun barrel. A bladegun? Gunblade? Whatever you call it, it looked like it could cleave a goblin in half and then shoot the other half just to be sure.

[New attribute: Magic Attack (M.Atk) added to Host: Alan]

A notification popped up as I held it.

I hovered the weapon in the air. This was the epito of cool, beautiful, deadly, and now...it was mine. I seriously wanted to run straight to the forest and test it out on so unsuspecting monsters.

"Beginner’s luck, huh?" Bob said, his jealousy almost audible.
