Now reading: Chapter 171 171: A Body with No Measurable Ceiling from Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future, a Action novel by theon.

Once the Body Change is launched, there's no steering it elsewhere.

"No !"

The orange beam shot straight into a small, blue-backed, white-bellied, cat-like creature who threw both paws over its face in horror.

A heartbeat later, the light hit.

"Puar!"

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

Bulma actually went pale.

Levos, on the other hand, saw red.

He'd been aiming Ginyu at Mini-Cell Two. At the last instant, the little imp yanked Puar in front of him like a shield.

When the glow burned out, the blue cat hovering in midair stared at its own body in stupefaction then at its tiny paws.

"Mr. Levos? What is the aning of this?! Are you tearing up your alliance with Lord Frieza?"

The air tightened. Frieza's camp leveled so very dark looks Levos's way.

And then

A furnace-blast of ki erupted from Piccolo as he swelled into his Orange form and glared down on everyone.

The pressure hit like a mountain dropped through the sky; Frieza's side chose not to test it.

"Hmph! Levos already said Broly's body was only on loan to Ginyu," Piccolo rumbled. "Don't get any ideas."

The newly adorable Ginyu looked about to cry. "L-Lord Frieza, what do I do? Please, you must avenge "

Frieza's smile iced over. "Well played, Mr. Levos. You've neutralized Rose Broly and handed a…limitless-potential vessel to your own people."

Levos t his gaze, unbothered. "That was always the plan for Rose Broly. Captain Ginyu forced my hand by swapping with Tagoma on his own."

It hadn't gone exactly how Levos envisioned, but at least the new Broly wasn't in Frieza's hands. If Ginyu had successfully traded with Frieza, the emperor would've wrung out power several tis beyond Rose Broly's norm an outco Levos would not allow.

Frieza flicked a glance at the still-seething Piccolo and twitched. "Tch. Very well. I won't stoop to quibbling."

Piccolo let his aura sink. The tension bled down a notch.

Ginyu, still in cute-mode, sent Frieza a watery look.

Frieza's eyes slid away. "Mr. Levos, I request that Captain Ginyu be allowed to swap back out of Tagoma's body. Do we have an understanding?"

Levos looked to Piccolo. Piccolo dipped his chin and tossed Tagoma's body onto the tiles.

"Agreed," Levos said.

Then he lifted the prize in his grip and looked it over the new Broly he was holding by the scruff.

"Mr. Buu, please heal Puar. Now."

Puar an animal-type Earthling and Yamcha's longti partner had trained at the Southern Transformation Kindergarten with Oolong back in the day. Oolong got expelled for stealing the teacher's panties and learned the technique only halfway five-minute limit, one-minute cooldown. Puar graduated properly and could transform freely, though transformation only mimicked appearance, not power. As objects, so function could be faked scissors, vehicles, that sort of thing but everything scaled with personal strength.

For all the jokes, Puar had co through in clutch monts: turning into a blade to sever kid Goku's Great Ape tail; later, during Super, transforming into Beerus to help the gang cover for Monaka; and right before the Tournant of Power, becoming a bunny girl hefting a single-handed 100-ton mallet so Master Roshi could "train" away his lust.

Reliable, when it counted.

A mont later, under Majin Buu's pink glow, Puar's injuries sealed up.

And then

An enormous surge of ki geysered off Puar, rolling across the temple like a stormfront.

"Puar! Pull it in!"

"I I don't know how!" Puar squeaked, panicked.

Levos threw up a wide-area shield, corralling the worst of it around the nearest bystanders, and the trembling stones settled.

"B-Bulma, what happened to ?" Puar's eyes shimred.

Levos and Bulma traded a look equally complicated.

"Sorry, Puar," Levos said with a sigh. "You're in a grown man's body now. Maybe cut the cutesy act when you talk."

Puar's ears flattened. "I I don't want to be any 'grown man'!"

"But…you are male," Levos said, rubbing his temple.

Canon said Puar was male. Puar, however, bristled.

"Says who?! We animal-type Earthlings don't have to box ourselves in like you do!"

Levos considered it. At minimum, there was a serious gender-identity dissonance here and he had no skillset for counseling it. Fortunately, Puar had a built-in workaround.

"You can transform, right?" Levos softened his tone. "Then take the shape you want. Be who you feel you are."

Personally, Levos thought this new Broly was stylish as hell would've been a sha to change the look. But a comrade's agency ca first. Whatever Puar chose to look like, the body's traits and ceiling wouldn't change.

The one snag: Puar's martial arts base was virtually nil he couldn't even manage basic ki control yet. With luck, he'd inherit new Broly's knack for rapid growth.

Either way, the deed was done: Puar now owned the vessel.

Next ca the practical question how to train it up, fast.

"We've got a little ti before we get back to Earth," Levos mused. "Might as well take a few people into the Room of Spirit and Ti."

Ever since fully absorbing Dark Gogeta, sothing had felt off. The raw power bump was smaller than expected until Levos reverted from Cell Max back to his base body.

So that's it. The major gains had landed in his original chassis.

His base combat power was now on par with a single Mini-Cell and the Saiyan geno inside him was nowhere near tapped out. Dark Gogeta's physiological "progress bar" was… incalculable.

The realization lit a fire in him. There were so many Saiyan cells in his system waiting to be mined. If that didn't scream push for Super Saiyan, what would?

Levos pinged Mr. Popo. Open the Room I need ti.

You can't, ca Popo's imdiate reply. You wrecked half of it. It'll take days to repair.

A bucket of cold water over the head.

It was his own fault: he'd punched through dinsional walls in there and paid for it now with a closed training hall.

Train here on the temple plaza? The floor wouldn't survive his warm-up stretches, never mind his ki surges.

Levos's gaze swept the courtyard, searching

and snagged on a tall, willowy silhouette.
