Gran stood before North Kai, looking down at the little man.
Blue skin, the trademark Kai attire, and tiny sunglasses perched on his face—collapsing on the ground like this made him look downright comical.
After being in the Dragon Ball world for so long, Gran was finally seeing the famously goofy North Kai in person.
But in North Kai's eyes…
The current Candidate God of Destruction was nothing like before. Gran was dressed in a bulky divine uniform, his body exuding an imnse godly aura.
A faint, ominous trace of destructive energy still lingered around him—the remnants of the power he had used to shatter Zangya's seal.
"G–G–Greetings, Candidate God of Destruction!"
North Kai scrambled to his feet, face as pale as paper.
He got caught spying… and gossiping behind Gran's back. Was this the day his final North Kai Planet vanished for good?
"When did you realize who I was?" Gran narrowed his eyes.
"A little over ten years ago…"
North Kai wiped his sweat. "When I sensed Lord Beerus waking up from his slumber, not long after I felt another special divine signature appear. I figured Lord Beerus must've chosen a candidate."
"I see."
So that's why it wasn't strange.
Every ti Beerus woke, it caused massive ripples. As the overseer of the North Galaxy, North Kai couldn't possibly miss it.
"Candidate God of Destruction, I'm so sorry! I truly didn't an to spy on you! Please—please spare my planet!"
North Kai jumped into the air and imdiately flopped flat on the ground.
He was trying to protect his last surviving planet with everything he had.
Gran covered his face.
Did this guy think he was Beerus?
Honestly, North Kai really was pitiful—first Beerus blew up his planet, then Goku got him killed as collateral damage…
Then every ti Earth summoned the dragon, random accidents prevented him from being revived.
"Relax. Patroling the galaxy is your job. I know you didn't do it on purpose."
Gran pressed his foot lightly into the ground.
A shockwave blasted North Kai into the air like a ragdoll.
After staggering a bit, North Kai finally regained his footing.
"Th–Thank you, Candidate God of Destruction!!"
He was ecstatic—this candidate wasn't like Beerus at all! He was actually reasonable!
"Well then…"
This short, chubby Kai had an inexplicable codic aura. Gran resisted the urge to grin and cleared his throat.
"I heard you've mastered two powerful techniques. Why don't you tell about them?"
The Kaio-ken had harsh drawbacks, just like Super Saiyan transformations.
To soone like Whis, this would probably count as a "crude technique."

The Kaio-ken was undeniably cool.
You might not use it
But you definitely had to know it.
And since he ca all the way here, learning only Kaio-ken but not the Spirit Bomb would be rude.

North Kai froze.

"You can use the Spirit Bomb and Kaio-ken, right?"
Gran looked very serious.
"I've been researching different martial arts lately. Tell about those two techniques."

"Should I tell you a joke first? Will that make you talk?" Gran asked with fake impatience.
Just like how North Kai treated Goku in the ani.

North Kai nearly fainted.

"I do have two techniques. Spirit Bomb and Kaio-ken. Both are created by . However… compared to the Spirit Bomb, Kaio-ken is incomplete. I've never actually used it myself—"

"It's fine," Gran said. "I'm only researching different martial techniques. Not planning to learn them."

North Kai didn't believe that for a second.
Still, he began explaining the fundantals cautiously.
And the mont he began speaking
Gran instantly entered a state of deep comprehension.

North Kai stared, stunned.

But he dared not stop talking—if he did, his planet might explode next.
That said… he was secretly proud.
He knew his techniques were incredible.

Gran opened his eyes sharply.
"C–Candidate God of Destruction… you…"
North Kai's jaw dropped.

"These techniques are pretty impressive."
Gran patted his shoulder.
In truth, he had only comprehended them.
He couldn't fully use them yet.
Just like with Destruction Energy, he needed practice before he could truly unleash the Spirit Bomb or Kaio-ken.
"S–So… you really mastered my techniques?"
North Kai swallowed hard.
"Yeah. They were simple enough."

North Kai wanted to curse out loud.
He spent countless ages creating these techniques!
"You said you weren't going to learn them… liar…" the Kai muttered under his breath.
"What was that?" Gran asked, smiling.
If North Kai knew Gran mastered Destruction Energy in just one day, the man probably would've entered shock.
"N–Nothing at all!!"
North Kai's whole body trembled.
"I'm not unreasonable," Gran said. "Since I studied your martial arts, if you ever run into trouble in the future, you can co find ."
Just like when he learned from the Yardrats and tamorans
He made the sa promise.
Now that he learned North Kai's moves, he granted him the sa privilege.
