Half a year ago, when Gran returned to the Realm of Destruction, Beerus had sparred with him once—and the flaws of that Super Saiyan form were glaringly obvious.
Power, ki, emotion… all of it was thrown into chaos by that golden-haired transformation, making him utterly feral.
What's worse, Beerus discovered that while in that Super Saiyan form, Gran could no longer overlay his Ultra Instinct proto-form on top of it.
As a result, even though his power increased fiftyfold, Gran in that golden state was actually weaker than his base form.
"In our eyes," Whis said with a shake of his head, "that golden transformation of yours—and your ancestor's green-haired one as well—are both mistaken paths. I truly don't understand why you're so obsessed with it."
Beerus tossed the boy back to the ground, voice cold.
"Then explain it. Now."
"..."
Gran steadied himself, silent. He didn't quite know how to begin explaining it.
Among the Saiyan race, there were actually three distinct evolutionary paths of transformation.
The first was the reversion-type transformation—like Broly's.
The second was the Super Saiyan line of evolution.
And the third—the Super Saiyan God line.
The first, like Broly's, was beyond Gran's ability to achieve, so that was out of the question.
As for the Super Saiyan God transformation—it was a pseudo-divine state. Though it allowed a mortal to gain divine ki and even sense it, in the end, it was still just another variant of the Super Saiyan transformation.
Even in the Super Saiyan Blue stage, the sa problems persisted—rapid stamina drain and unsustainable power output.
Not to ntion, Gran's dinsion had already reached the pinnacle of the Kaioshin level.
All he needed to do was break through that bottleneck, and he would beco a true Divine Being.
So, Gran had never even considered chasing that "pseudo-divine" evolution.
The Super Saiyan series, however—that was the Saiyan race's true evolutionary path.
Before reaching Super Saiyan 4, the form carried major flaws—massive energy consumption, imnse strain on the body, uncontrollable rage…
But with each transformation, a Saiyan's very bloodline evolved.
By the ti one reached Super Saiyan 4, those flaws—stamina drain, physical burden, emotional instability—would all be resolved.
In other words, Super Saiyan 4 was another form of the Saiyan's natural state.
Beerus had said Gran couldn't use Ultra Instinct in his Super Saiyan form—but in Super Saiyan 4, he absolutely could.
That would an
Divine Dinsion Super Saiyan 4 Ultra Instinct: Perfected!
And yet…
Who was to say that Super Saiyan 4 was the end of the Saiyan evolutionary line?
Who was to say Gran's growth would stop at the Divine Dinsion?
When that ti ca, even the combination of Divine Dinsion Super Saiyan 4 Ultra Instinct: Perfected might have to be rewritten.
"Lord Beerus, there's a record of this in the Saiyan historical archives," Gran said, lying through his teeth without missing a beat.
"After my Super Saiyan transformation, there's another state—it's called the Ultimate Form."
"That form is said to be the Saiyan's true natural state."
"In that state, all the problems—stamina drain, bodily strain, emotional instability—disappear completely."
"And you said I couldn't overlay Ultra Instinct on my Super Saiyan form—but in that Ultimate Form, I definitely could."
BOOM!
Beerus and Whis were both shaken to the core.
A Saiyan had yet another transformation beyond Super Saiyan?
As the supre deities of Universe 7, they imdiately thought of the multiplier principle behind the Super Saiyan line.
If this "Ultimate Form" truly had no drawbacks…
then its multiplier would be unimaginable.
And if Gran's dinsion soon advanced another level
Divine Dinsion Super Saiyan 4 Ultra Instinct: Perfected!
Just how absurd would that combination be?
"Impossible," Beerus said firmly, shaking his head. "From our perspective, that Super Saiyan transformation of yours is a fundantal error. There's no way there's so 'Ultimate Form' beyond it."
Whis didn't speak. He only furrowed his brows, lost deep in thought.
"I'm telling the truth, Lord Beerus! You have to believe !" Gran pleaded, sounding genuinely anxious.
"Alright, alright, you—"
Before Beerus could finish, Whis interrupted softly.
"How about we release the Elder Kai?"
Beerus blinked. "Him?"
"The Elder Kai may be… fond of certain adult magazines, which makes him seem rather undignified," Whis said carefully, "but his insight, knowledge, and ability are unmatched. Among all Supre Kais in the Omni-King's cosmos, he's undoubtedly number one."
Whis's tone was unusually serious.
Even Beerus, who usually clashed with the Elder Kai, didn't refute that. It was apparently an acknowledged fact.
Gran's eyes widened. He knew the Elder Kai was impressive—but not that impressive.
Based on Whis's words, if Beerus was the "strongest Destroyer God,"
then the Elder Kai could rightfully be called the "strongest Supre Kai."
And yet—despite having both of the "strongest" gods, Universe 7 still ranked second to last among all universes.
Utterly absurd.
"There are many things in the universe that even I don't fully understand," Whis continued, "but the Elder Kai knows them all."
"He has an especially deep understanding of races. Perhaps he can discern sothing about the Saiyan line."
He turned to Beerus, his expression serious.
"Our universe already ranks second to last. If this continues, we risk being erased by the Omni-King himself."
"In a universe, both a Destroyer God and a Supre Kai are indispensable. Shin is still too young and inexperienced. It would be wiser if—"
"Enough."
Beerus sighed deeply. Of course he understood.
The Realm of Destruction fell into heavy silence.
After a long pause, Beerus finally seed to make up his mind. He glanced at Gran, grumbling,
"For your sake, kid, I've already given up sleeping in. Now I've got to release my last-resort survival card too? I must've owed you a great debt in my past life!"
Normally, Gran would've snapped back at him, but now his heart was filled only with gratitude.
Beerus had done a lot for him.
He couldn't be ungrateful—he'd let it slide this ti. He'd argue back later.
"Hmph. With talent like yours, if you don't soday break past the laws binding even us gods, I'll make sure you regret it."
Beerus exhaled heavily. "Whis—let's go to the Supre Kai's Realm."
"Yes, Lord Beerus."
Whis chuckled lightly, raised his staff, and in an instant, he, Beerus, and Gran soared skyward together.
