Now reading: Chapter 88 88: Whis, What If the Grand Zeno Erased You? from Dragon Ball: Summoning Whis at the Start, a Action novel by mxl1440.

Ti flowed quietly, and a month had passed since the two great battles in the Realm of Nothingness.

Even after a full month, the waves stirred by those clashes had yet to settle.

The collision between Universe Six and Universe Seven was still a hot topic among the gods.

That Beerus and Champa had fought wasn't exactly shocking — after all, those two brothers had been at odds since ti immorial.

But the fact that Whis and Vados had also fought — that was what truly stunned everyone.

After all, angels were supposed to be noble, composed, and graceful beings — paragons of poise and civility.

How could such exalted existences possibly fight?

Aside from a select few, most deities had no clue what had actually caused it.

However...

Since two universes' Destroyer Gods and angels had clashed yet escaped without punishnt from Grand Zeno, it was clear they must have received his permission beforehand.

That only deepened everyone's curiosity — what could possibly drive them to battle like that?

The two cosmic duels continued to be fervently discussed throughout the realms, but the parties involved acted as though nothing had ever happened.

In Universe Seven, at the Realm of the Gods of Destruction

Three figures stood before the grand palace of Beerus.

"Gran, it's been four years since you ca to the Realm of the Destroyers, hasn't it?" Whis said with a hint of nostalgia.

"Mhm. Just about four years exactly," the young Saiyan nodded.

It was Age 741 — four years since Gran had first arrived in the Dragon Ball world.

"Four years already? Ti flies."

Beerus's tone was casual, but inside, he was quietly astonished.

Only four years — and this brat was already ready to begin dinsional training.

Then again, after being shocked by Gran so many tis, he'd almost gotten used to it.

"You already know what I'm about to teach you next, right?" Whis's voice grew more solemn.

"I do. I'm going to start training in dinsional mastery!" Gran clenched his tiny fists, eyes sparkling with excitent.

"Correct."

Whis raised his staff, continuing calmly: "In this world, cultivating one's dinsional essence is the truest path. Do you know why that is?"

Gran gazed toward the lake in the distance and nodded.

"Because of lifespan. No matter how powerful a mortal becos, once their life runs out, everything turns to dust."

"You're right," Whis said, "but not entirely."

Beerus chid in beside him. "Actually, there's a place called the Underworld. When mortals die, their souls go there.

If a mortal has contributed greatly during their lifeti, they might not have to reincarnate — so can even keep their bodies and continue training in the afterlife."

Gran already knew this.

Like Son Goku from Dragon Ball Z, who kept his body in the afterlife and even achieved Super Saiyan 3 there.

But still...

Death was death. Even with a body, the restrictions were enormous.

Such was the helpless fate of mortals.

Beerus noticed the look on Gran's face and grinned.

"So you get it now, huh? No matter how strong a mortal is, once they die, those limitations can't be escaped — even if they keep their body."

At that, Gran finally voiced his long-held question.

"Then… what about us Destroyer Gods or Supre Kais? What happens if we die?"

He'd always wondered about that.

"If we gods die?"

Beerus fell silent for a while before speaking again.

"You've been a candidate for so ti now, so you should know there have been many generations of Supre Kais in our universe, right?"

"Yes, I know." Gran nodded. He wasn't sure which generation of Destroyer God Beerus was, but he did know that the Old Kai was from fifteen generations ago.

"Other than that old fossil, have you ever seen any of the other Kais around?"

Gran blinked. "No..."

Beerus sighed. "That's because even gods die, brat. Sure, our lifespans are long, but once we're gone, that's it — just like mortals."

A long life didn't an immortality.

Gran felt a pang of disappointnt — but it made sense.

"Then… what about you angels?" Gran asked timidly, shrinking his head down.

He just couldn't hold back his curiosity.

Whis: "…"

Beerus: "…"

"Unlike Beerus and the other gods," Whis replied at last, "we angels possess eternal lifespans. Even if the entire Grand Zeno Universe were destroyed, we would not die."

Gran blinked in awe — then blurted out the one question no sane being should ever ask:

"Then what if the Grand Zeno erased you?"

For a second, there was silence.

Then

Bonk!

Whis's staff ca down on Gran's head.

"Ahh! Owww!"

Gran crouched down in a corner, clutching his aching scalp.

"You little rascal, how can you talk so much nonsense?" Whis scolded, half exasperated, half amused.

"Do you still want to train in dinsional mastery or not?"
