The crowd was curious about what had happened to the two n.
Sun Jiang got to his feet and let out a breath, clearly shaken by his near-death experience. "Earlier, Guan Ping and I were searching for Yin Spirit Flowers," he began. "We happened to pass by the Undying Ghost Spring and noticed a strange light flickering from it."
"We were both imdiately drawn to it, thinking it might be so incredible treasure. In the heat of the mont, without much thought, we decided to go take a closer look."
"However, I hadn’t taken more than a few steps before I felt sothing was wrong. So of the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi actually broke through my True Essence Shield, drilled into my body, and began destroying my life force."
"When I realized what was happening, I called out for Guan Ping to stop. But he refused to give up and kept going. I used that chance to retreat, planning to co back and get everyone to take a look. I never expected to stumble upon a Yin Spirit Flower after that. You all know the rest of the story."
Sun Jiang recounted the tale slowly. The Guan Ping he ntioned was the blood-soaked man who had died earlier.
"A strange light?"
Ye Wushuang listened quietly, pondering for a mont before suddenly turning to Sun Jiang. "Will you take to see it?"
"Brother Ye, you mustn’t!" Xiang Tianxiao protested at once. "Even a Spiritual Spring Realm cultivator can’t block the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi of the Undying Ghost Spring. If you go..."
"Don’t worry about . You all can start collecting the Yin Spirit Flowers." Ye Wushuang smiled faintly, his interest in the Undying Ghost Spring now piqued.
Seeing Ye Wushuang’s determination, the others’ lips moved, but the words to stop him were swallowed back down.
Of course, Ye Wushuang knew they were worried. But he cultivated the Heaven-Devouring Dragon Technique; the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi was not enough to threaten his life.
With that, he called out to Sun Jiang. The two of them set off, soon arriving beside a deep pit about half a li away.
Behind them, Xiang Tianxiao thought for a mont, gave an order to Yu Tong beside him, and followed.
Arriving at the site, Sun Jiang was still deeply shaken and didn’t dare take a single step forward.
Ye Wushuang, however, didn’t notice Sun Jiang’s hesitation. He stepped into the area with the casual air of soone taking a stroll.
"Brother Ye, maybe we should just forget it," Sun Jiang suddenly blurted out, his heart in his throat, just as Ye Wushuang’s foot crossed the threshold.
Ye Wushuang turned his head and gave a faint smile, but his steps never faltered. He continued walking toward the deep pit alone.
Suddenly, a sinister wind howled, rushing at him and whipping at the corners of his clothes. Hazy gray Ghost Spirit Evil Qi enveloped him like a terrifying, poisonous miasma. It actually penetrated Ye Wushuang’s True Essence Shield, seeped into his skin, and began to destroy his life force.
However, this didn’t last long. The Heaven-Devouring Dragon Technique activated and imdiately devoured it.
This was Ye Wushuang’s safeguard. If not for this, his fate would likely have been the sa as Sun Jiang’s.
After dealing with the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi, Ye Wushuang let out a deep breath. He continued forward, but now with a great deal more caution.
Behind him, Sun Jiang was shocked to his very core.
Earlier, he had only taken a few steps before being tornted by the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi. If Ye Wushuang hadn’t saved him, he likely would have been reduced to bloody bones.
But now, Ye Wushuang was already close to the Undying Ghost Spring, yet he was completely fine, as if the terrifying Ghost Spirit Evil Qi posed no threat to him at all.
Gazing at Ye Wushuang’s back, Sun Jiang murmured, ’Just who is Brother Ye? He’s so mysterious. He could heal , and now he’s unaffected by the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi... Could he be the reincarnation of a Great Saint Sage?’
As Sun Jiang murmured, Xiang Tianxiao appeared beside him, watching the white-robed figure with considerable shock.
Ye Wushuang strode forward, step by step, activating his Treasure Body. The imnse power of his qi and blood scattered the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The Yin Spiritual Qi ford into a dragon, whistling past Ye Wushuang’s ears. Ghostly wails echoed, utterly terrifying.
Ye Wushuang didn’t seem to notice. As he got closer to the deep pit, the signs of life on the ground gradually vanished, replaced by skeletons sprawled everywhere.
CRACK!
A crisp sound suddenly rang out from under Ye Wushuang’s foot.
Ye Wushuang stopped abruptly and looked down. Ghastly white bones lay strewn across the ground, clearly dead for many years. His one step had turned many of them to dust, which the sinister wind blew away, scattering them into nothing.
’So many people died here. Was it because of the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi, or was there another reason?’
Ye Wushuang paused for a breath, his expression grave as he looked up at the deep pit, now just a stone’s throw away. He worried that the cause of death for the corpses at his feet was not the Ghost Spirit Evil Qi, but so peerless terror lurking within the pit.
Of course, this was just a guess; he couldn’t be sure. Besides, he was also very curious about the ancient well. What on earth could be emitting that strange light?
After weighing his options, Ye Wushuang started walking again, but his pace was slower than before.
In less than a quarter-hour, Ye Wushuang finally reached the edge of the deep pit.
To his surprise, hidden at the bottom of the deep pit was an ancient well.
The ancient well was mottled and clearly man-made. About half a ter from its mouth, he could vaguely see three black iron chains leading straight down.
Streams of Ghost Spirit Evil Qi rose from within. The sinister qi was oppressive, whipping wildly in all directions. The area around the ancient well was a dead land.
BUZZ!
Suddenly, the ancient well trembled slightly. In a fleeting glance, Ye Wushuang saw a multicolored halo flash within it.
’Is this the strange light that Sun Jiang saw?’
’I wonder what’s inside the ancient well?’
’A treasure?’
’A malevolent artifact?’
Ye Wushuang tilted his head and looked down, a terrifying ball of energy gathering in his palm, ready to block any unknown danger.
As his gaze descended, the full picture of the ancient well entered his vision.
The ancient well was not too deep, only a dozen zhang or so. Inside, crimson spring water gushed, holding up a strange coffin.
Ye Wushuang’s brow furrowed. ’Why would there be a coffin inside the Undying Ghost Spring?’
His eyes fixed on the strange coffin, Ye Wushuang discovered it was densely covered with Inscriptions and so mysterious Talismans. They shone with various colors of light, suppressing the crimson spring water below.
And the strange light he had seen before was emanating from this very coffin.
BUZZ! BUZZ!
At that very mont, the Demon God Statue within Ye Wushuang’s robes abruptly blood with a blood-red halo. Simultaneously, the Jade Pendant linked to the secret of his birth also trembled, enveloped in its own glowing light.
Noticing the change, Ye Wushuang imdiately withdrew his gaze from the well, took out the two items, and examined them carefully.
’Could the secret hidden within the Demon God Statue be here?’
’But what does this have to do with the Jade Pendant?’
’This Jade Pendant is related to the secret of my birth. How did it beco connected to a coffin?’
Ye Wushuang was curious, but he didn’t try to disturb the contents of the ancient well. He didn’t know what was inside, but his intuition warned him not to touch it.
Unable to figure it out, Ye Wushuang didn’t dwell on it. Having investigated the source of the light in the well, he started back the way he ca.
Xiang Tianxiao asked, "Brother Ye, what’s in there?"
Ye Wushuang smiled. "It’s nothing. The strange light Sun Jiang saw earlier was just a reflection off the water of the Undying Ghost Spring. A false alarm."
Ye Wushuang concealed the existence of the strange coffin. After all, who knew what that thing really was?
The two of them didn’t doubt Ye Wushuang’s explanation, and the three of them walked back toward the others who were collecting the Yin Spirit Flowers.
BANG!
BANG!
However, what Ye Wushuang didn’t know was that at this very mont, the strange coffin in the ancient well began to tremble. The Inscriptions on it crumbled, the Talismans disintegrated, and the coffin slowly creaked open as a pale hand reached out from within...
