Chapter 383: Why didn’t your oh-so-mighty Dragon God do it!?

“They are here…”

“I can’t believe I am seeing them from so close.”

“Should we… go talk to them…?”

“Don’t be a fool! They are clearly spending so ti together, don’t disturb them!”

“Right…”

“Exactly! Be grateful that they even graced us with their presence.”

“Indeed! Especially Lord Kael, he doesn’t even have to be here! After all, he would always co when we are in danger anyway, wouldn’t he!?”

“Hahaha! Indeed! I pity the poor Stonefangs! To co with such grand preparations and return with complete defeat. Hahaha! It makes laugh!”

“This is what happens when mortals go against a God!”

“Indeed! The Dragon God!”

“The Dragon God!”

A group of soldiers talked continuously as they stared at Kael and Lavinia.

Yes, after the eting at the Elder’s Hall, Kael was to return to the Wall and continue his watch and Lavinia, of course, followed him.

The two of them sat quietly near the edge of the Wall, away from the others, just like they always did. Kael leaned back with his arms resting behind him, eyes closed, calm. Lavinia sat beside him with her knees hugged close, her long coat wrapped tight around her.

The rest of the soldiers, be it the ones who participated in the battle against the Stonefangs or the ones who went to the East Coast to face the Drakthar, they all were stationed at the Wall as well, continuing their duty.

Yes, at Ashen Heights, there was no rest for the Velmourns, even after a historic victory. After all, the Stonefangs weren’t the only enemy here.

Any of the other tribes could attack them at any mont as well, they needed to be prepared all the ti.

Were the soldiers dissatisfied by it?

Of course not.

This was sothing they were used to.

In fact, today was the day they couldn’t possibly complain about. After all, not a single one of them had died or had been injured, they were in their best state, just sowhat exhausted.

This was much, much better compared to tis they would have to stand on the Wall after a grueso war. To the soldiers who were used to staying on the Wall even when they mourned for their comrades who had fallen in war a few hours ago, this was… heaven.

And the ones who made such heaven possible for them… were sitting right in front of them.

The soldiers looked at them with eyes full of absolute reverence, almost as if they wanted to kneel and chant their nas again.

A feeling the rest of the soldiers who hadn’t participated in the war against the Stonefangs couldn’t quite understand.

“I understand what they did was quite grand but… aren’t you people going too far? The Dragon God…? Does sothing like that even exist?”

One of the soldiers couldn’t hold himself back and questioned.

The group of soldiers turned towards him and without missing a single beat—

“You weren’t there, were you Jas?”

One of them questioned.

“You went to face the Drakthars.”

“That is correct.”

The soldier nad Jas nodded.

“And what we found out there was… quite unsettling.”

Jas continued, staring at Lavinia.

“Lady Lavinia… her full na is Lavin—”

“Lavinia Dragonborn, the Princess of Drakthar.”

The other soldier, Henry, completed Jas’ words.

“You… knew?”

Jas blinked.

“You people have been talking about it non-stop, have you not? It would be stranger if we did not.”

“Do you not feel… concerned?”

Jas questioned carefully, and Henry’s entire group tilted their heads, confused.

“Concerned about what?”

“…that a Drakthar Princess is living with us. They also say that there is a traitor amongst us, the one that inford the Stonefangs about the state of the Wall. This is the reason we were caught so unprepared—”

“What are you trying to say?”

Henry questioned directly. Jas froze for a mont, his eyes on Lavinia, who was still talking to Kael, probably not listening to their conversation.

“If you are going to say sothing, at least have the balls to say it out loud.”

Henry growled.

“Stop being a coward.”

“I am not a coward.”

Jas retorted.

“And it is not my fault that your shallow mind is unable to piece it together!”

He raised his voice as if he did not care if Lavinia heard him or not. Both Kael and Lavinia, however, did not react to his words. The rest of the soldiers at the watch, however, were different.

They were now attentively listening to this conversation, so had even gathered around, prepared to actively participate in it.

Seeing that he was getting more attention and more of ‘his’ people had gathered, Jas got more confident and—

“How do you not see it!?

She is that traitor!

She is the one who inford the Stonefangs about the situation at the Wall! And that Lord Kael of yours is together with her! The two of them are working together with the Stonefangs!

They did not ‘chase away’ the Stonefangs because they are strong! They were able to chase the Stonefangs away because that was their plan from the beginning!

To save us, earn our trust, infiltrate deep into our ranks and break us from inside!

And we are exactly following their plan!

If this continues, they are going to devour us!

So wake up!

Open those stupid eyes of yours and use that head for once!

If he was so strong, why didn’t he just kill every single Stonefang!? If you had such a strong advantage, why didn’t you follow through with an all-out attack!? Why did you let the Stonefangs retreat!?

Every year!

Those Stonefang bastards attack us every year!

Wasn’t this the perfect chance to deal with one of the problems that have troubled our people for generations!?

Why didn’t your oh-so-mighty Dragon God do it!?”

Jas shouted, his words gathered more and more soldiers, and since most of the soldiers went to the East Coast, the majority sided with him.

In their eyes, Kael and Lavinia were manipulating their comrades but—

“Pffft!”

Henry laughed.

“Hahahaha!!”
