Gao Yuyue pressed her lips together: "Deal."
Having settled things with Yan Lu, Gao Yuyue turned her sights on the next target.
Before morning reading began, Gao Yuyue smiled with satisfaction.
Then her gaze shifted to Gu Bichen and Liu Runxi.
Gu Bichen, trailing Shen You’an by a re 0.5 points, appeared nonchalant, but deep down, he must not be content.
He definitely didn’t want to be desk mates with Shen You’an.
Next, she looked at Liu Runxi.
This perennial second-place might soon beco a perennial third, or perhaps even fourth.
As the saying goes, the dog that bites doesn’t bark—this big shot might be the most low-key of them all, but he’s also the hardest to underestimate.
But based on Gao Yuyue’s observations, these n carried deep-seated chauvinism. They would never be okay with a girl consistently outshining them.
Besides, during three years of middle school, Liu Runxi had never spoken a single word to Shen You’an.
Given Liu Runxi’s family background, he probably looked down on Shen You’an. How could he possibly sit beside her?
Liu Runxi was off the list too.
As Gao Yuyue calculated her options internally, ng Junzhu entered and took the opportunity during morning reading to rearrange the seating.
All the students stood outside the hallway, stepping inside to choose their desired seats as their nas were called in rank order.
Under everyone’s gaze, Shen You’an walked into the room and once again chose the back corner of the last row.
ng Junzhu frowned: "Shen, sitting in the front rows will help you see the blackboard more clearly."
"Teacher, I have glasses."
"Alright, if you ever want to change seats, feel free to co to ."
Next: "Gu Bichen."
Gao Yuyue leaned against the window, watching as Gu Bichen entered the classroom, and then saw him calmly take the seat next to Shen You’an.
ng Junzhu didn’t know what to say—why did all the top students like to sit in the corners?
Gao Yuyue was dumbfounded. She slamd the window sill and muttered under her breath, "Gu Bichen, you’re stealing my seat."
The noise drew curious glances from nearby classmates.
Gao Yuyue belatedly raised her right hand, her pale palm now red and stinging, her eyes brimming with tears from the pain.
"Liu Runxi."
Liu Runxi entered the classroom, his gaze seemingly casual as it swept in Gu Bichen’s direction, before walking over and taking the seat in front of Gu Bichen.
Then ca Yan Lu, who chose the seat directly in front of Shen You’an.
By this point, ng Junzhu was utterly speechless.
Even more speechless was Gao Yuyue. What was going on? Since when was Shen You’an so popular? Why was everyone crowding around her?
And to top it all off, Gao Yuyue couldn’t find an open seat anywhere near Shen You’an.
When it was Gao Yuyue’s turn, she entered, glared at Gu Bichen resentfully, gritted her teeth, and chose the middle seat in the first row.
At that mont, a grand plan ford in her mind.
She would study harder and aim to surpass Gu Bichen in the next exam.
By then, the desk next to Shen You’an would have to be hers.
Only the front row middle seat could ensure absolute focus for her studies. When she got ho, she’d demand her mother hire two top-tier private tutors to help with her coursework.
She refused to believe she couldn’t achieve it.

"Hi, Shen, I’m Yan Lu."
Shen You’an looked up, eting the sparkle of the girl’s glossy black eyes.
"Hello."
Yan Lu stared at the face so close to hers and suddenly said, "Shen, your eyes are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Why don’t you try wearing contact lenses? It’s such a sha to hide them with glasses."
Gu Bichen and Liu Runxi from the front glanced instinctively in Shen You’an’s direction.
Behind the lenses lay concealed splendor.
Like the most vivid rainbow after a shower, not everyone was lucky enough to witness it.
Shen You’an lowered her lashes, dimming her glow, and said flatly, "It’s a waste of ti."
"Alright then. I suppose your grades explain everything."
Swapping vibrant youth for top scores—was it worth it?
This corner of the classroom, ho to this four-person group, was undoubtedly the most gripping spot for the entire class. Yet among the four, except for Yan Lu, the rest were all reserved and taciturn. Most of the ti, their heads were buried in their studies, even between classes. Aside from bathroom breaks, they tackled competition problems endlessly.
With the high school mathematics competition coming up in mid-October, no one was willing to let their guard down.

After school, Shen You’an walked out of the building when a car window rolled down to reveal Gao Yuyue’s delicate face.
"Shen You’an, get in the car."
Shen You’an sighed, "Mr. Gao, I need to catch the subway. You have fun by yourself."
Gao Yuyue stepped out of the car: "Then I’ll walk with you."
