"Are... Are you alright?" the woman exclaid in concern.
Shen You’an slowly straightened up, a layer of cold sweat forming on her forehead.
The driver rushed out of the car, first glaring resentfully at the woman, then scolding her with a sharp tongue: "Do you even watch where you’re walking? Crossing the road like that without looking—are you in a hurry to reincarnate?"
The woman’s face turned a few shades paler. She bit her lip and said, "I’m sorry..."
Seeing how pitiful she looked, the driver decided not to argue further and turned to Shen You’an, asking with so concern, "Let take you to the hospital. Hey, there’s one just nearby—makes things easier. You’re a good person, risking yourself to save this woman. Don’t worry, I’ll cover the dical expenses."
The man thumped his chest confidently.
Shen You’an shook her head. "I’m fine. You can leave."
The man hesitated. "Are you really okay?"
"You weren’t at fault either. Go ahead."
In recent tis, there’d been too many cases of people exploiting good intentions. Encountering a genuinely kind-hearted person moved the man to the verge of tears.
"No, that collision earlier didn’t look minor. You need to get to the hospital for a scan to check things out."
Without waiting for her response, the man assisted Shen You’an to her feet.
The woman wiped at her tears and chid in, "Yes, you should get checked. You don’t look very well."
Shen You’an glanced around. More and more people were gathering, so filming with their phones. Furrowing her brows, she had no choice but to step into the hospital once more.
Walking alongside her, the man pulled out his phone and made a call. "Hey, Dean Leng. A friend of mine got into a car accident—could you arrange for her to get checked up quickly? Great, thanks a lot. Let’s grab a drink soti."
Nearby, Shen You’an listened, her brows lifting slightly.
A young man in a white coat walked toward them.
"Uncle Zhen," he greeted.
Upon seeing him, the man said, "Xiao Yuan, why you though?"
The young doctor pointed to the employee ID on his chest. "I’m interning in the ergency departnt now."
The man clicked his tongue. "What a waste for your talent."
With that said, he stepped aside and gestured to Shen You’an. "Take her to get checked."
The young doctor’s gaze fell upon Shen You’an, montarily startled. "It’s you?"
The man exclaid in surprise, "You know each other?"
The young doctor chuckled. "I just saw her in ergency yesterday."
The man shot a pitying glance at the girl beside him. She certainly had a streak of bad luck.
Shen You’an looked expressionlessly at the woman next to her, whose face was filled with guilt. "Don’t leave yet. Wait for here."
The woman nodded. "I won’t leave."
The man snorted coldly, shooting her a glance. "You’re the one at fault here. I saw it happen with my own eyes—don’t even think about running."
The woman tugged at the corners of her lips, managing a bitter, desolate smile. Her haggard appearance stirred an inexplicable ache in one’s heart.
Zhen Fu’s eyes flickered subtly. He lightly cleared his throat and averted his gaze.
Shen You’an had a CT scan done on her waist. As she waited for the results, the young doctor brought over a tray with tools intended for treating external injuries.
"I’ll handle it myself." Shen You’an picked up the dical tweezers and skillfully disinfected the wounds on her knees.
It was autumn, and the school uniform was still a pleated skirt. Over her shirt, Shen You’an wore a knitted sweater and a jacket from the school uniform set.
The uniform favored style and flair over warmth. Since most places had heating, a little exposure to the cold was tolerable for high school students chasing beauty.
The weather was gradually growing colder. Shen You’an wore a black padded vest over her school jacket. Her lower half, however, still sported a pleated skirt—a mismatch of the seasons. In the recent accident, her right knee had scraped against the ground, leaving a wound from which blood trickled down her fair skin, making her pale complexion appear even more flawless, almost as luminous as white jade. The contrast was startlingly beautiful.
The young doctor coughed lightly and quickly averted his gaze.
Yet he couldn’t help but steal glances.
The knee injury wasn’t just a simple scrape—it had been pressed onto stones. Small bits of gravel had embedded into the flesh and had to be carefully picked out one by one. For such a delicate girl, this process was undeniably cruel.
And yet, the girl didn’t even furrow her brow, handling the cleaning, disinfecting, and bandaging of her knee with practiced ease. Her actions were swift and seamless, stunning him to silence.
"Doctor Leng, the results are out." A young nurse rushed over and handed him the CT report.
Shen You’an instinctively looked up, her eyes landing on the man’s employee ID.
Ergency Departnt Intern, Leng Yuan.
Shen You’an’s gaze lingered.
The Leng Group had built its fortune in the pharmaceutical industry, later investing in the construction of nurous hospitals. It could be said that half of Qingzhou City’s dical resources were under the control of the Leng family.
