"I didn’t think you’d be so sneaky."

"Let just say upfront, this place is very proper, not at all the way you imagine."

"Alright, an explanation is just an excuse."

The club manager ca out to greet them. Upon seeing Yan Lu, his smile beca even warr: "Miss Yan, your presence truly graces this establishnt. Please, co on in. These must be your friends? Every single one of them seems extraordinary."

"Enough already, I’ve heard this flattery a thousand tis. Which room is Huang Xi in?"

"So you’re the esteed guest Mr. Huang has been waiting for. Please follow ."

As they entered the elevator, another sedan pulled up in front of the club.

A casually-dressed young man stepped out, self-indulgently brushing his hair, which was drenched in hair gel.

A man in black stepped out from the passenger seat, walked up behind him, and whispered, "Young Master, shall we go in?"

"Why the rush? Let him wait a little longer. Back when my family was in trouble, the Liang family couldn’t distance themselves fast enough. Now they see as useful and shalessly try to cozy up. How can anyone be so disgraceful?"

Feng Yueyang took a deep breath. "If it weren’t for him holding the core technology, I wouldn’t bother dealing with him. Once the acquisition is complete, just wait and see how I handle him."

Chong Ming sighed deeply. Feng Yueyang was now the linchpin of Feng Group. Outsiders viewed him as a young prodigy who had saved the day, an accomplished rising star in Chunzhou. Many affluent families secretly hoped to tie their own fortunes to his through marriage alliances.

But this guy still couldn’t shake his childish tendencies in private, spouting immature remarks. Were it not for the Boss secretly backing him, he would’ve long been devoured whole by the cunning senior mbers of the board.

That said, Feng Yueyang truly inherited the business genius of his father, Feng Chi. Though his personality was more naive, his intelligence and eagerness to learn made up for it. With the Boss’s covert support, he hadn’t committed any major missteps yet, even pulling the near-bankrupt Feng Group back from the brink and slowly steering it toward stability.

The man they were eting tonight was nad Liang Cai, son of Liang Wei, founder of Chunke Electronics.

Years ago, Liang Wei and Feng Chi had co-founded a business together, but ideological differences led the two to split. Liang Wei took the core technology and founded Chunke Electronics, rising to a point where it rivaled Feng Group. However, Liang Wei was poor at managent and stubbornly egotistical, and his company quickly declined. Though it couldn’t compare with the increasingly successful Feng Group, it still carried so status in the Chunzhou business circle—enough to ensure a lifeti of financial security, as long as he didn’t overextend himself.

Later, one of Feng Group’s technology applications drew a lawsuit from Chunke Electronics. The disputed technology, taken by Liang Wei, was imdiately patented by him. Despite the fact that the invention was created by Feng Chi’s team of researchers, Liang Wei sued Feng Chi and Feng Group for patent infringent.

Feng Chi eventually opted for an out-of-court settlent, paying a hefty sum to resolve the matter peacefully, which in turn delayed Feng Group’s next stage of developnt plans.

If Feng Group wanted to climb higher mountains, it needed to firmly secure this technology—sothing possible only through acquiring Chunke Electronics.

Feng Chi, out of old friendship, was reluctant to take a hardline approach; Feng Yueyang, however, had no such reservations. Hence, this eting had been arranged.

Currently, Chunke Electronics’ head of technology was Liang Wei’s son, Liang Cai—a na that implied a pillar of society, though the man himself was an infamous good-for-nothing. Feng Yueyang took advantage of this, selecting a club as the eting spot to cater to his tastes.

As the two entered the lobby, the elevator door across from them was slowly closing.

Feng Yueyang blinked a few tis. "Am I hallucinating? Why does everyone I see look like the Boss?"

Chong Ming’s radar imdiately went off as he raised his head sharply. "Where?"

The elevator door closed, cutting off the figure entirely.

Feng Yueyang shook his head. "I must be so sleep-deprived from reading financial reports that my eyes are playing tricks on . How could the Boss show up here? If she were in Chunzhou, wouldn’t she have contacted ? It wouldn’t make sense, right?"

Chong Ming thought to himself: Who do you think you are? The Boss doesn’t even contact him; why would she reach out to Feng Yueyang? What makes him think he’s so important?

Feng Yueyang sighed rather wistfully. "Boss, oh Boss, where are you? If you were here, this acquisition would’ve been a breeze."

Chong Ming was at a loss for words. Feng Yueyang’s calculating mind was truly relentless.

Spending a penny to achieve two goals—he was worse than a stereotypical parsimonious taskmaster.

The nature of a capitalist was, at this mont, laid bare.
