To seek a man’s love is less practical than seeking his money and status.
Early the next morning, i Qingdai and Zhong Qi set out for the airport.
"Second Madam, the flight we’re taking will have a layover in Ge’an."
"Ge’an?" i Qingdai furrowed her brow. That place was known for being in chaos, notorious for won not being able to walk alone on the streets even in broad daylight.
"Forget it, as long as we can get back quickly."
Before boarding the plane, i Qingdai turned around for one last glance at this city. Her joy, her happiness, along with her fleeting romance, were all buried here.
i Qingdai turned and stepped into the cabin.
She was seated in first class. As she located her seat and was preparing to sit down, she noticed soone in the window seat.
It was a young woman dressed entirely in black casual wear, with a black baseball cap pulled low over her face, her head slightly bowed as she read a book.
Though her face was obscured, her cool and mysterious aura was incredibly captivating. It was a look so understated and plain, yet emitting an undeniable air of a superstar.
i Qingdai took the seat next to her.
She glanced at the hand holding the book—it was delicate and alabaster, reminiscent of the finest white jade. The long and slender fingers possessed an indescribable beauty, even the nails were strikingly eye-catching.
i Qingdai looked down at her own hands. Though she took great care of them, she couldn’t help but feel inferior compared to this young woman beside her.
The flight to Ge’an was two hours long. i Qingdai closed her eyes to sleep, and when she woke up, the woman beside her was still engrossed in her book.
It was an English book. i Qingdai had struggled with English during school; while she could manage basic conversation, she couldn’t recognize the line of English written on the cover. She ntally noted the words, planning to look them up after getting off the plane.
In the silence, the only sound was the soft rustle of pages being turned.
A beautiful flight attendant approached, politely asking if they wanted any fruit or drinks.
i Qingdai, feeling a bit thirsty after having only a simple breakfast in the airport lounge earlier, replied, "I’d like a latte."
The flight attendant turned to the woman in black. "Miss, would you like anything?"
Without lifting her head, the woman replied, "No, thank you."
Her voice, like her deanor, was cool and elegant.
After the flight attendant left, i Qingdai couldn’t hold back any longer and spoke, "Hello?"
The woman finally turned to look at her.
i Qingdai gasped, "You... Are you from Hua Country?"
Under the brim of the cap was a delicate face. A pair of glasses sat on her high nose bridge, obscuring her eyes, but the fleeting mont of her turning was unforgettable in its stunning beauty.
It was unmistakably the face of soone from Hua Country—young, beautiful, and mysterious.
The kind of face that srized both n and won, young and old alike.
But i Qingdai had the nagging sense that she looked familiar.
"Are you the actress Qiao Wan?"
The woman raised an eyebrow, smiled faintly, and shook her head before returning to her book.
i Qingdai scrutinized her again. The aura and figure were similar, but the face didn’t quite match.
In her spare ti, i Qingdai enjoyed watching dramas. Last year, there had been a very popular fantasy series she liked. The lead actress had impressed her, and she rembered her na: Qiao Wan.
Transitioning from model to actress, Qiao Wan had undoubtedly been the most successful.
In the entertainnt industry, Qiao Wan was unrivaled in fashion and style. No one dared claim the top spot in fashion if she was second.
With her tall, slender fra—an ideal model’s body—she was a walking clothes rack. Her sense of style was impeccable. Even the most disastrous outfit beca breathtaking on her.
i Qingdai had spent quite so ti online watching Qiao Wan’s fashion videos, trying out so of those looks herself in private. While they were fashionable and looked good, they were ultimately a bit too frivolous for her social position, which ant she could only wear them in private for fun.
It wasn’t that she particularly admired Qiao Wan. No matter how famous a celebrity was, they weren’t even worthy of carrying her shoes in i Qingdai’s view; they were rely a way to pass the ti.
She had never seen Qiao Wan in person, only the packaged image created by caras. But now, standing before her was soone more vibrant, more luminous.
Seeing the woman clearly uninterested in engaging with her, i Qingdai pursed her lips.
She shouldn’t have bothered initiating a conversation—did this woman really think she was important?
If she revealed her own identity, she’d like to see how arrogant this woman could remain.
i Qingdai took a sip of coffee, her expression imdiately changing as she spat it out. "Why does this taste so strange?"
The flight attendant apologized with a forced smile. "I’ll replace it for you right away."
Even after two replacents, i Qingdai was still dissatisfied. Feeling annoyed, she took it out on the poor flight attendant, venting her irritation on her.
After a prolonged standoff, the flight attendant’s smile froze.
i Qingdai snapped, "Forget it, just leave."
Grateful for the reprieve, the flight attendant quickly withdrew.
Glancing at the young woman beside her, i Qingdai noticed she remained completely engrossed in her book. Not once did her deanor waver, as if completely detached from the squabble happening beside her.
This only made i Qingdai feel even more irked, though there was little she could do as the plane began its descent.
The young woman closed her book, placed it in her backpack, put on sunglasses, and walked away briskly with the bag slung over her shoulders.
i Qingdai hurried to catch up.
"Madam," Zhong Qi caught up to her.
The young woman disappeared in just a blink, her long legs quickly carrying her out of sight.
i Qingdai stomped her foot. "We lost her."
"Madam, is there a problem?" Zhong Qi asked, puzzled.
"It’s nothing," i Qingdai replied.
She was sure the woman was also returning to Hua Country. They would undoubtedly et again on the next flight.
"The flight to Jingzhou departs at 4 PM. We have six hours to wait. Shall we head to the lounge to rest?" Zhong Qi suggested.
Glancing at the sky outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, i Qingdai said, "It’s my first ti in Ge’an. Can we go out and explore?"
Zhong Qi frowned. "Madam, Ge’an is quite chaotic locally. For safety reasons, it’s best we stay inside the airport."
Reluctantly, i Qingdai gave up on the idea.
Shen You’an exited the airport, where a black sedan awaited her. The passenger side window was halfway down, revealing Bob’s dark, grinning face. His pearly white teeth glead brilliantly.
Shen You’an opened the car door and got into the back seat.
Bob imdiately rolled up the window, cautiously glancing in the rearview mirror. "Boss, the flight must have been tiring for you. I’ve arranged a banquet to welco you and help you unwind..."
"How’s the investigation going?" she interrupted.
