King Arthur was on the verge of a complete ntal breakdown.
And it wasn’t just because she’d been hiding in a garbage chute and gotten puked all over by that damned Knight.
The main reason was her terrifying discovery.
A Wizard could actually solo a Tier Three Knight!
And King Arthur herself was a Tier Three Knight!
’Doesn’t this an that I, a dignified Tier Three Top Level Knight, have beco the lowest-ranking mber of this unknown Highest-Level rcenary Corps?’
This was simply intolerable!
’The Wizard must be Tier Three, but his Abilities are bizarre.’
’I have to break through to Tier Four as soon as possible!’
While King Arthur was fantasizing about her life after becoming a Tier Four Knight, Guang Ling had already started urging her on in the temporary Highest-Level channel.
Guang Ling: "King Arthur, stop spacing out. Prepare to withdraw. We’re moving on to the next target. We need to hunt at least two Tier Three Knights tonight, three if possible."
King Arthur: "Understood."
She was decisive in her actions.
’I have to act now, take on as many missions as possible, and earn more Credit Points. That’s the only way I can achieve Tier Four Combat Power before the Wizard does.’
’I, King Arthur, am the Knight destined to claim the Sword in the Stone! I will absolutely not beco the most useless mber of this rcenary Corps!’
...
Lin Qi was unaware of King Arthur’s thoughts. At that mont, the Jiuxin Prosthetics Club had descended into chaos.
It wasn’t because the managent knew the identity of the Tier Three Knight, but because the way this Knight had died was simply too disgusting.
The Tier Three Knight had been on vacation, hiding his identity while looking for so fun. As a result, his death caused no stir, aside from attracting the Intercontinental Stability Trauma Ergency Company.
No one cordoned off the scene. No one cared who the killer was.
No one even believed that the person who had died so casually, so disgustingly, could possibly be a Tier Three Knight from the Round Table Conference.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Lin Qi left the scene in plain sight.
As he was leaving, so prosthetic fanatics, who had been captivated by Lin Qi’s alluring, "spherical" Prosthetic Body, tried to get his contact information.
A sonic generator emitted a mature, sultry voice: "My apologies. The scene just now was too upsetting. I’m not in the mood right now. If we happen to et again at the next gathering, then by all ans... You can go see Miss Lai Xin to sign up for a club mbership."
Never one to forget a favor, Lin Qi put in a good word for Lai Xin.
After all, he had relied on Lai Xin’s invitation to get into the venue so smoothly and openly.
Followed by the gazes of the crowd, Lin Qi left the rooftop.
He followed Guang Ling’s directions to a hidden blind spot in the surveillance system.
With a single thought, he activated Spiritual Power Materialization.
Tentacle-like Spiritual Power took physical form, churning within the sphere.
In just a few seconds, large pieces of L-Class Armor fell away.
Lin Qi’s form changed from a sphere into that of a sturdy, tall Prosthetic Implanter.
A piece of armor covering his face also fell off.
His entire appearance underwent a massive transformation, with even his paint job changing to a red and gold color sche.
Then, the materialized Spiritual Power swept up the scattered armor from the ground.
The imnse force slightly warped the armor and scraped off the original paint, revealing the bare tal underneath.
Finally, it rolled up the armor pieces and tossed them into a comrcial district’s garbage chute.
The armor that had served as Lin Qi’s disguise was instantly transford into cyber-junk.
Even if those cyber-perverts from the club who were obsessed with the "sphere" saw the armor again, they would never recognize it as belonging to the extrely popular "lady" from tonight.
"Next location: Mist ta-universe Fishing Club."
Following Guang Ling’s guidance, Lin Qi quickly got into position.
At the sa ti, his extended Spiritual Vision happened to spot King Arthur in a ventilation duct.
While Lin Qi was dismantling his armor and changing his appearance, King Arthur had gone down into the underground pipes to wash the filth off herself with the city’s tap water.
But she hadn’t had much ti, and King Arthur still felt the stench clinging to her was a bit too strong.
King Arthur was complaining in the temporary communication channel.
King Arthur: "Guang Ling, why am I still in a pipe?"
Guang Ling replied instantly: "Pipes offer easy access to the target."
King Arthur: "Why doesn’t the Wizard have to crawl through pipes?"
Before Guang Ling could reply, Lin Qi responded himself: "Because I don’t do close-quarters combat."
King Arthur fell silent.
It wasn’t as if she had done any close-quarters combat, either.
She had basically slacked off the entire ti, doing nothing, while the Wizard took out the target all by himself.
King Arthur couldn’t figure out what her purpose was.
Guang Ling sent a tily text ssage: "The second target is not suited for the Wizard. We need you to handle it."
"The target is currently fishing in the taverse, connected to the Cyber taverse network system via a brain-computer interface. I will now use technical ans to block the target’s perception of the outside world. You have five minutes. A one-hit kill would be best."
King Arthur imdiately perked up.
’It took the Wizard two minutes to kill a Tier Three Knight.’
’If I can kill a Tier Three Knight in one shot, doesn’t that an...’
’King Arthur > Wizard?’
’This is my chance to restore my status in the rcenary Corps!’
Watching the chat, Lin Qi had no objections.
His recent kill of the Tier Three Knight was entirely because the target had let his guard down and carelessly ate sothing he shouldn’t have.
The current target, this Knight, was imrsed in fishing in the taverse, hooked up to a brain-computer interface. He was no different from soone who was asleep.
Lin Qi had no way of dealing with a Tier Three Knight in this state; he could barely even break through their defenses.
Arriving outside the Mist ta-universe Fishing Club, Lin Qi didn’t need to go inside.
His Spiritual Vision, with its range of over three hundred ters, was enough for him to lock onto the target.
However, the target was a Tier Three Knight. Lin Qi’s Spiritual Vision couldn’t break through his Spiritual Power defenses to penetrate his body.
Looking at the Mist ta-universe Fishing Club, Lin Qi complained internally:
’taverse fishing... the rich sure know how to have fun. They call it fishing, but it’s really just a cyber casino. If I rember correctly, the power behind it seems to be the Big Business Alliance...’
taverse fishing, just like formula dogfight vehicle racing, was a money-making tool for the Big Business Alliance.
It just targeted a different clientele.
But in the end, it was essentially a cyber casino.
The only difference was that the technology behind the taverse was a bit more advanced than that of formula dogfight vehicles.
Lin Qi had never visited the taverse, but he had heard that it was practically a second society within the Cyber World, holding over fifty percent of its wealth.
’Only a fool would play in the taverse. If I accessed sothing like that, I’d probably be played for a fool by Guang Ling.’
Lin Qi was still unnerved by Guang Ling’s abilities.
Who knew if Guang Ling would strip your consciousness bare the mont you accessed the Cyber taverse network via a brain-computer interface.
As he was thinking this, Lin Qi suddenly felt his line of thought was a bit off.
Even without accessing the taverse, his own secrets were already on the verge of being completely exposed by Guang Ling.
Guang Ling’s control over the network was simply unimaginable.
