"So this is your brother? He’s pretty handso, just a little young for my taste. Your teacher here prefers mature n."
The woman’s tone was sowhat flirtatious as she sized up Lin Qi’s features, offering her assessnt.
"Handso? Him?"
Lin Xin looked up, her gaze falling on the Prosthetic Bodies that made up Lin Qi’s arms and legs, a look of disgust on her face.
Lin Qi walked over to face Lin Xin and sat on the sofa in the clinic’s reception area. "Lin Xin," he said, "I think you should introduce us. Who is she?"
Lin Xin didn’t speak, instead looking at the woman.
The woman, perfectly composed, sat down across from Lin Qi.
"Allow to introduce myself. My na is Baili Xueyuan. My surna is Baili, so don’t get it wrong."
"Furthermore, I’m Lin Xin’s teacher. Not a teacher in the traditional sense, like at a school here in Red Fruit City, but a teacher of Extraordinary Professionals."
"Given your status, you should know what an Extraordinary Professional is."
Baili Xueyuan got straight to the point.
As for the status she had ntioned, Lin Qi didn’t think she was referring to his Profession as a Wizard, but rather his identity as a corporate employee.
Beyond that, Lin Qi also noted her surna.
’Baili?’
That strange surna didn’t sound like it ca from an ordinary Cyber City. It seed more like sothing from the Eastern Alliance.
Pondering his words, Lin Qi decided to answer Baili Xueyuan from the perspective of an A-Class Pharmaceutical Researcher. "Extraordinary Professionals? Of course I know about them. They’re the most stable source of Extraordinary Materials."
Lin Qi was leading Baili Xueyuan to misjudge his identity even further.
’An A-Class Researcher in Pharmacy. A-Class at nineteen years old.’
He would use his background with Liu’s Heavy Industries to make this Extraordinary Professional of unknown Level hesitate.
As expected, Baili Xueyuan imdiately processed the information from Lin Qi’s words.
"Didn’t you say your brother was an L-Class Researcher in Prosthetic Engineering?"
Baili Xueyuan asked Lin Xin in a stage whisper, making no attempt to be discreet.
Lin Xin looked confused. "Isn’t he?"
In Lin Xin’s mind, Lin Qi was a complete Prosthetic Body fanatic. He had even delved deep into Prosthetic Engineering just so he could install them, becoming an L-level Researcher in the process.
Lin Qi glanced at Lin Xin. As expected, she was the one who had leaked his "identity."
For an L-level Researcher, the existence of Extraordinary Professionals was hardly a secret.
Many L-Class Prosthetic Bodies had to be specially customized for Extraordinary Professionals like Knights and Martial Artists.
"Your information is out of date. I got a promotion a few days ago. A-Class. I also transferred departnts. I’m now an A-level Researcher in Liu’s Heavy Industries’ Pharmaceutical Departnt, and I’m still on the fast track for key developnt."
He continued to deliberately flash his cover identity as an A-level Researcher, adding even more weight to it.
’This woman is most likely from the Assassin Alliance,’ he thought. ’That’s just a T1 rcenary Corps. Perhaps this will be enough to intimidate her.’
Hearing this information, the woman’s brow did indeed furrow.
She turned to Lin Xin and said, "This is a bit troubleso. You’re no longer clean."
’Not clean? What does that an?’
Lin Xin was baffled, and Lin Qi was just as confused.
’What exactly was this woman’s purpose in coming back with Lin Xin today?’
Baili Xueyuan explained to Lin Xin, "I suppose it’s my fault. If I had taken you back earlier to handle the procedures, it wouldn’t be this much trouble."
"But sothing ca up suddenly in Greenfield City, and I had to rush over to take charge. I finally managed to deal with a couple of young punks and was just about to find ti to co to Red Fruit City, but then so old lunatic of a Martial Artist showed up in Greenfield City and tied up for a few days."
"Although, I have to say, that old lunatic was pretty intense, and not bad-looking either... Ahem, but I’m getting sidetracked."
"Now that a mber of your imdiate family is on the verge of entering the inner circle of a major corporation, it ans your background isn’t clean anymore. The Alliance’s review process will be a huge pain."
"You need to co with to Yu Chuan City as soon as possible. We have to get the process done while those other two old coots aren’t back yet, otherwise it’ll be even more trouble."
Baili Xueyuan’s words were so information-dense that Lin Qi’s brain nearly crashed.
’Greenfield City... take charge?’
That sounded a bit familiar.
’Back when he and King Arthur were on that mission, they were worried their Tier Three combat strength wouldn’t be enough, so they had called in the Tier Four Master Ma to hold down the fort.’
Only a Tier Four Extraordinary could use a phrase like "take charge" in a place like Greenfield City!
’And didn’t this woman just ntion an old lunatic Martial Artist? Who tied her up for a few days?’
’Why does that story sound so familiar?’
If he recalled correctly, Master Ma had ntioned sothing in the Highest Level temporary channel chat.
’That he’d been tangled up with a Tier Four Blood Robe from the Assassin Alliance?’
’This woman is a Tier Four Extraordinary Professional?’
Lin Qi felt the pressure instantly. This was the first ti he had ever co face to face with a Tier Four.
Although they didn’t seem to be hostile at the mont, Lin Qi imdiately reined in his Spiritual Power and completely retracted his Spiritual Vision.
According to intel from within the Highest-Level rcenary Corps, Blood Robe Extraordinary Professionals were masters of techniques involving Spiritual Power.
’At the terrifying Level of Tier Four,’ he thought, ’it wasn’t impossible that she could discover my Wizard’s Spiritual Power.’
But this involved Lin Xin, so Lin Qi could only ask through the pressure, "You’re going to the Eastern Alliance? Voluntarily?"
Even though Lin Xin’s expression showed no signs of being forced—in fact, she even looked a little happy—Lin Qi still had to ask her directly.
"Of course! I can’t stay in Red Fruit City my whole life, and there’s no way I’m inheriting this rundown clinic like Dad wants."
"I don’t want to rot and stink away surrounded by these Prosthetic Bodies, just to lie on a clinic bed waiting to die when I’m eighty."
