During the Dark Ages Chapter 21 - 21 Road trip to City B(1)

To get to City B to City A, we would have to travel through one of the many forests that existed on the continent. The road was a few hundred kiloters in distance, which ans a few hours of driving. It was currently night ti, so I told everyone we would rest until daylight due to it being safer and it'll be easier to spot undeads at day….for humans that is, I could see perfectly in the dark, a perk of being a demon I guess. Thankfully, Claire and the others took my advice and raided the grocery stores allowing everyone to have a full stomach before going to sleep, which improved everyone's mood, even if just slightly. As they slept, I sat on the top of the bus playing with my flas, giving it different shapes and increasing and decreasing it's intensity. I found that I could shape my flas into any shape I wished for, the more complex the shape the longer it took, but that was only due to my inexperience. The intensity of the flas could be decreased and increased based on my will, though to increase the intensity I would need to pour more demonic energy into the flas, and the flas beca a bit darker the more intense I made the flas. No matter how intense the flas beca, it never burned and only felt warm against my skin, which I thought was cool, and reassuring, considering these were literal fire I was holding in my hand.

I barely noticed the ti passing before the sun rose above the horizon, marking the beginning of a new day. I went into the bus and woke up all of the survivors up making sure they were prepared for the journey ahead. I ard each of them with a gun, except for the three children of course. I was reluctant to give the six from the third floor any weapons considering their actions the previous day, and the very likely event of them betraying us, but I gave them anyway as I knew if they tried anything, I had more than a few ways to kill them. I took a new katana for myself as the old one has crumbled to dust after I used [Demon Enchant], a very surprising side effect of my new trait. While driving towards City B, a few thralls attacked but they were easily dispatched by the others. We reached the forest road without much issue but for so reason, I felt uneasy like my instincts were warning about sothing, the road was mostly clear of vehicles with only a few buses and smaller vehicles, most of them crashed into trees while others were overturned to the side of the road. Nothing around seed suspicious, but I activated the [Aura Vision] skill for confirmation and what I saw made shiver.

"Everyone quickly, grab your guns and ready yourself for an attack!!" Everyone looked at weirdly but I ignored them and grabbed an M16 from the backpack before pointing it out a window pointing to the forest. Seeing that I was serious everyone got ready as well.

Inside the forest I could see thousands of red auras and although they seed weaker than the thralls, their numbers were a cause for concern. Soon, a brown bear with glowing red eyes roared loudly before charging towards the bus, but I killed it with a single bullet to the head, causing it to stumble and fall onto the road as the others gasped. The others started to talk about the crazed look in the bear's eyes, but that was background noise to as my own thoughts filled my mind.

'Demonic Beast.' I wasn't given enough ti to think as more animals rushed out of the forest. Bears, panthers, tigers and all types of other animals and everyone imdiately shifted into combat mode as they fired at the crazed beasts, but their numbers made them a small horde and the others accuracy wasn't exactly up to military standards. So of them managed to ram the bus causing it to swerve a bit but thankfully the driver was skilled enough to keep it on the road. The bus driver pressed down on the accelerator even more, speeding away and soon the animals started to fall behind but we still shot the ones that got too close. They chased us for over two hours, and by now we've killed dozens of them and they seed to be lessening a bit as so of them stopped to feast on their dead comrades which caused everyone to sigh in relief. But a new and inevitable problem soon beca evident…..we were running out of bullets, fast.

Soon, around thirty minutes later, a cacophony of bird noises sounded in the sky and everyone's face turned pale. Looking up, a dense dark cloud was approaching the bus and we started firing at it but it made little difference as they continued their approach undeterred. Then the inevitable happened, we ran out of bullets and everyone started to panic. Gritting my teeth, I jumped through the window and onto the roof of the bus, steadying my stance on the moving bus and no one seed to notice my action, too focused on the murder of crows. I used [Demonic Energy Manipulation] to concentrate a large amount of demonic energy in my hand, causing a ball of dark orange flas that was getting darker by the second to appear in my hand. Pointing my palm at the incoming tide of crows, I then waited for them to get closer.

Twenty ters….they were not close enough yet and I still needed ti to prepare.........

Fifteen ters, everyone's face turned even paler and there hands started to tremble, despair started to settle on them......

Ten ters, soone started yelling at the driver to go faster while the driver yelled that the buss couldn't go any faster......

Five ters, the sky lit up orange and the people in the bus felt an intense heat as they saw burning birds falling from the sky.

The flas in my hand were shooting out like a flathrower, killing the birds in the dozens but strangely I didn't get any exp I wonder why.

[The amount of Demon Miasma inside the Demonic Beast(crows) is negligible so it is instead consud by your flas.]

Well that answered my question. As I burned hundreds of crows I could feel my DP running out at an incredible rate and my flas getting stronger, it was quite the contrasting sensation. The other beasts started running away scared of my fla and the murder of demonic crows soon left as well after a good portion of their flock was burnt to ashes. Seeing the flock leave, I quickly hopped back inside the bus and where I was t with gazes of astonishnt, reverence and fear.
