Night ca quickly and no sooner after the sun disappeared beyond the horizon, could two dark figures be seen racing across the sky of City B.
"Faster, try flapping your wings faster." I instructed Alice. She was currently practicing her flight skills and flying through the air awkwardly, she seed to second guess any action she took, making her fly off kilter and both her speed and maneuverability suffered. When we first took to the sky, she almost fell to the ground after she looked down but I caught her in ti and she has been trying not to ever since. When I received the [Demon Transformation] skill, I instinctively knew how to fly and got good at it pretty quickly. I suspect it's the sa for Alice so it shouldn't take long but at the rate she's going, it may not fast enough. I don't know when more ghouls or sothing even more powerful will show up so I need to level up as quickly as possible and so does Alice.
"Don't be afraid of falling. Take a deep breath and allow yourself to fly. You already have the knowledge from the [Vampiric Transformation] skill so don't fight against your instincts." I coached her and after hours of trial and error, she was soaring through the air like a pro. Now it was ti for aerial combat training. I conjured a small fireball in my hand and threw it at her without any warning. By the ti she saw the fireball, it was two ters away and she had no choice but to cross her arms and block. But since I intentionally made it weak it did no damage.
"What the fuck Colin?!" Alice shouted angrily as she rubbed the spot where the fireball hit her.
"You should be more aware of your surroundings, you don't know when an enemy is nearby." I replied calmly with a smirk on my face.
"Oh really now." Suddenly her wings started flapping fast then she flew between two building and disappeared. I activated [Aura Vision] but I couldn't find her.
'This again.' I thought amused, calmly looking around for any traces of her, but there was none to be found.
'This might be good training for the both of us. I've been relying a bit too much on [Aura Vision] recently instead of my enhanced senses.' I thought and deactivated [Aura Vision]. I got both [Aura Vision] and [Supernatural Senses] when I beca a halfling and both were enhanced when I beca a Demon, and yet I haven't really tested the limits of [Supernatural Senses]. Now is a perfect opportunity has presented itself and I wasn't gonna waste it.
I looked around and looked for anything out of place but couldn't find anything.
*Bam*
Suddenly I felt sothing heavy hit in the back sending spiraling through the air but I soon regained my balance by simply spreading my wings. Not bad Alice. I tried to concentrate again but I didn't hear, sll or even see anything out of place.
*Bam*
I felt another powerful impact, this ti across my face and I was sent flying through the skies. Balancing myself, I had half a mind to shoot exploding fireballs all over the place but I cald myself down and decided against it.
'What to do? What to….wait a minute.' I looked through my status and finally found a potential solution. I used the [Senses Manipulation] trait to enhance my hearing at the cost of so DP. I enhanced my hearing to the limit and finally found sothing…..a heart beat. The heartbeat was slowly getting closer and I also started to hear sothing else, the gentle flapping of wings once obscured now clear to . I waited for it to get closer and closer then I heard sothing whooshing through the air towards my face and I caught it. Then I pulled Alice into a tight bear hug and she finally beca visible once again.
"Let go." She said and struggled to get herself out of my bear hug.
"Oh, can't get away from little ol' ." I teased and then she just looked up at and smirked. Suddenly her body burst into white mist and moved away from then her body reford.
"Of course I can." She said with a smirk
"So that's the [Misting] skill. Impressive." I praised
"Of course it is. It's mine after all." She said arrogantly
"How did you disappear earlier?" I asked
"That's one of the abilities given by [Shadow Affinity] called [Shadow Cloak]. It allows to use shadows to hide myself from most forms of detection. I also got the [Basic Shadow Shaping] ability allowing to make different shapes with shadows." She replied
"Okay, so you're going to practice your skills in the day and then we can train your flying and sword skills in the night." I imdiately made a schedule after taking into consideration her weakness to the sun.
"You want to train both day and night." Alice protested
"Yes. I'm sure you've noticed that there are no more undeads in the city." I said and she nodded.
"I'm sure it's only a matter of ti before more tier 3 or maybe even tier 4 demon species co to the city so I need you to get as strong as you possibly can so that we can take them on and co back out alive." I said with as much conviction as I could muster.
