Chapter 234

Striker turned to leave, but stopped mid-step. His expression remained calm and collected, but his tone sharpened like steel.

"You can deal with any of those heroes... but don’t fight the one with black and white hair. If you do, you’ll die."

Garvin froze, taken aback, confusion clouding his face. "What do you an?"

Striker shrugged as if it were obvious.

"He’s the leader. An extrely strong one. Leave him for Magus—he’ll deal with him."

For once, Garvin went silent. He had heard whispers of the leader of the Tryst Guild, stories of his terrifying power, but he had never truly feared him.

Still, Striker’s grave tone carried more weight than any rumor. Garvin could tell the man was not exaggerating. After a mont, he nodded.

"...Fine. I’ll leave him for Magus. But the rest of the heroes—I can crush them, right?"

Striker’s smile returned. "You have my permission. Kill them all."

He started walking away again, but paused once more, glancing back.

"Speaking of Magus... do you know where he is?"

Garvin thought for a mont, then shrugged. Everyone knew Magus was strange—he rarely engaged directly in battle, preferring to stay hidden. Even so, his loyalty to Drake was absolute. If Drake had commanded it, Magus would eventually appear.

"If I know Magus well enough," Garvin finally said, "then I’d say he’s preparing sothing. Preparing to end this entire battle... in seconds."

Striker chuckled lightly, a dangerous smile tugging at his lips.

"Yeah... you’re probably right. If it’s Magus, then he’s cooking up sothing big. Very big."

With that, he finally departed, leaving Garvin to watch the battlefield. The chaos had montarily cald—but it would soon erupt again, fiercer than before.

---

anwhile, back in the cavern—

Aiden was experiencing sothing he never thought possible. Sothing alien to him. Despair.

It struck him harder than any wound, heavier than any burden. The cause was the glowing system notification floating before his eyes:

> Alert! Alert! Host is under control effect. Attempting suppression...

Suppression failed.

Warning: Host is now tad. Host actions are under enemy control.

The ssage repeated endlessly, each line hamring into his mind like chains locking into place.

Aiden couldn’t even lift a finger. No—he couldn’t feel his body at all. It was as if he were trapped inside a dream, watching everything unfold yet unable to move, unable to resist. Helpless.

Fool. I should have seen this coming.

Quint’s ability allowed him to bend beasts and monsters to his will. Against humans, it wasn’t supposed to work. But Aiden... wasn’t exactly human anymore.

With over four hundred different beast and monster DNA strains flowing through his veins, his body was more creature than man, even if his mind and thoughts remained human.

And that was his mistake. His arrogance. He had believed himself immune.

Now, bound in his own body, he cursed silently. Cursed at Quint. Cursed at himself. Cursed at the chains gripping his soul. His mouth couldn’t move, his voice locked away. He could only scream within the cage of his mind.

Across from him, Clara looked on, confused and worried. She couldn’t understand what was happening.

The Dawn Overflow Mode and the Dark Essence Mode still burned inside him—at his peak strength, even Han would have struggled to bring him down. Yet here he stood, motionless.

"What are you doing, Aiden? Take him down, now!" Clara called out, her voice sharp, impatient. She didn’t understand why he was hesitating.

Again, she called, stepping forward, her armor’s faceplate sliding open to reveal her anxious expression.

Quint, bloodied and battered, still managed to grin. A smile that made Aiden’s heart pound like war drums.

"No... don’t co closer!" Aiden scread in his head, thrashing against invisible chains. But no sound left his lips. His jaw refused to obey.

Then Quint’s voice cut through the silence. A command, quiet but absolute:

"Kill her."

Aiden’s mind roared in denial. I’d never hurt Clara. Never. But his body betrayed him. Against his will, his hands twisted into savage claws, sharp and deadly.

His chest thundered. His feet moved. Step by step, he advanced toward Clara.

She blinked, still not understanding. "Aiden... what’s wrong? Are you hurt?" she asked, stepping closer. Worry was etched across her face.

Run, Clara... please run! His thoughts howled. But his body surged forward, claws raised.

With every shred of willpower left, Aiden forced his throat to tear out a sound.

"Get away!!!"

The scream split the cavern a heartbeat before his claws slashed down toward Clara’s face.

Her reaction was lightning. Golden lines flared across her combat suit, erupting into a shimring barrier in front of her. His claws struck it like steel against glass, sending cracks spiderwebbing across the glowing shield.

But it wasn’t enough.

Aiden clenched his fist, Dark Essence writhing around it like a storm, and smashed it forward. The barrier shattered in a burst of golden shards, and his fist slamd into Clara’s chestplate.

The impact stole her breath and hurled her across the cavern. She crashed against the wall with brutal force, stone splintering around her.

Clara staggered, coughing up blood as pain racked her body. Aiden’s heart clenched. He had done it—he had hurt Clara.

"Damn it..." Aiden cursed inwardly. He had to stop Quint. He had to wrestle back control of his body. If he didn’t, Clara would be in danger.

Yet Clara rose back to her feet, her eyes burning with fury—not at Aiden, but at Quint. She wasn’t a fool. From Aiden’s earlier warnings, and the faint smirk curling across Quint’s lips, she had pieced together the truth.

Quint had the power to ta beasts and monsters. And wasn’t Aiden’s morph skill—his transformations—exactly that? A monster’s form?

That ant Aiden had fallen under Quint’s control. She should have anticipated this. How could she have been so careless?

Her teeth clenched. Quint wasn’t just strong—he was cunning. Unable to escape, he had chosen the cruelest strategy: pit Aiden against her.

And let them destroy each other.
