On the dark sea, a fierce wind whipped up salty, fishy waves that °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° slamd violently against the sides of the giant steel ship.

Inside the hold of a heavy troop transport ship of the East China Sea Fleet, the air was murky and filled with the slls of engine oil, sweat, and the lingering sour odor of vomit.

"vomit--!"

In the corner, young soldier Chen Xiaohu gripped the vomit bag tightly in his hand. His stomach was already empty, but he was still uncontrollably dry heaving bile.

His face, which had been tanned dark by the northwest winds and sand, was now as white as paper.

This was his first ti on a boat.

It was also his first ti on the battlefield.

A rough, large hand slapped him hard on the back, so hard that he almost coughed up his lungs.

"How about it? Got scared?"

Chen Xiaohu struggled to raise his head and t a pair of cloudy but sharp old eyes.

It was his squad leader, Lao Ma.

Old Ma had an unlit pipe dangling from his mouth, a habit he'd developed in the Gobi Desert of Northwest China, one he couldn't break even now, on this damp sea.

"Class monitor... I'm not a coward."

Chen Xiaohu wiped the sour water from the corner of his mouth, his voice trembling and choked with sobs.

"I just... this boat is rocking so hard my guts are going to break."

"We n of the Northwest have ridden wild horses and slept through sandstorms, so how could we be brought down by these few waves?"

Old Ma chuckled, his face crinkling with wrinkles that resembled a cracked riverbed in the Northwest.

He pulled a crumpled water bottle from his pocket and handed it over.

"Take a sip; it's mixed with strong liquor to calm your nerves."

Chen Xiaohu took the water bottle and took a big gulp.

The spicy liquid burned down my throat and into my stomach, finally suppressing the nausea that was making feel nauseous.

Around them, several hundred soldiers, also dressed in Northwest Army standard armor, were mostly pale-faced.

They are tigers on land and lone wolves in the Gobi Desert.

But for them, the vast ocean was more unsettling than the enemy's swords.

"Squad leader..."

Chen Xiaohu gripped the battle knife tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning white from the force.

"I've heard that Japan is full of ruthless killers."

"Can...can we really win?"

"And this is a naval battle, we can't even swim..."

"Smack!"

Old Ma slapped Chen Xiaohu hard across the helt with his other hand.

The crisp sound startled the seasick recruits around them, who all turned to look.

"Bullshit!"

Old Ma's eyes widened, and his roguish soldierly deanor instantly transford into a fierce killing intent.

"So what if you can't swim?"

"If you can't swim, then you can only charge forward!"

"Retreating ans drowning, charging forward is the only way to survive!"

He looked around, his voice echoing in the closed hold, making everyone's eardrums buzz.

"Listen up, all of you!"

"We are the Northwest Army!"

"These are soldiers led by General Wang Zhenbei!"

"In the Northwest, we can slaughter those strange beasts until they run away in terror."

"Once we reach this sea, we'll still be invincible!"

"As long as our feet are on solid ground, it doesn't matter if it's sand or deck, even if it's an island or reef in Japan, it's still our territory!"

Old Ma had barely finished speaking.

The sowhat somber atmosphere in the lower deck was instantly ignited.

The fear in the soldiers' eyes gradually faded, replaced by a fierce determination born from being driven to the brink of despair.

Just then.

"Waaaaaah!"

A sharp, piercing battle alarm suddenly blared in the lower deck.

The dim lighting suddenly went out, replaced by a blood-pumping red alarm light that flashed wildly.

The commander's cold and urgent roar ca over the loudspeaker.

Attention everyone!

Attention everyone!

"We're still three kiloters from Yungang!"

"Contact expected in two minutes!"

"Prepare for battle!"

"Repeat! Prepare for battle!"

"Clang—!"

The massive hydraulic hatch opened slowly to both sides with a muffled roar.

The salty sea breeze, mixed with cold raindrops, rushed in instantly.

Chen Xiaohu shivered involuntarily.

He looked up and, through the cabin door, saw the brightly lit coastline in the distance.

That place is Yungang.

One of the most important naval ports in Japan.

At this mont, the port is no longer peaceful.

The piercing air raid siren blared through the sky, and countless bright searchlight beams swept wildly across the sea.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Along the coastline, a dense array of coastal defense magic cannons has begun to roar.

One after another, cannonballs and magical beams, trailing trails of fla, rained down on the fleet like a storm.

"They're here!"

Old Ma abruptly tucked the pipe back into his waistband and drew the alloy battle knife from his back.

"Northwest Army!"

"exist!"

Hundreds of soldiers roared in unison, their voices drowning out the roar of the waves.

"Check the equipnt!"

"You'd better risk your life for !"

"If anyone dares to back down when the hatch opens, I'll be the first to chop them up!"

Chen Xiaohu took a deep breath, the pungent taste of the alcohol rushing to his brain.

He stopped trembling.

He stared intently at the approaching coastline, his eyes filled with nothing but crimson.

...

Yungang Command Center.

"Baka! What's going on?!"

"How could the Great Xia Kingdom's fleet have broken through the outer defenses so quickly?!"

Colonel Yamada, the garrison commander of Yungang, was standing in front of the command post, disheveled, hysterically roaring into the phone.

"What about Onizuma Island? What about Sado Island?"

Are they all dead?!

A desperate cry ca from the other end of the phone.

"Commander! Gone! All gone!"

"All outposts lost contact within ten minutes!"

"boom--!"

A loud bang interrupted the call.

The entire command center shook violently, and dust fell from the ceiling.

Colonel Yamada lunged at the window.

Outside the harbor, the fleet of the Great Xia Kingdom had already braved heavy artillery fire and forced its way into the inner harbor.

There was no probing, no roundabout approach.

It's the most savage and direct head-on collision!

One after another, the troop transport ships, like mad bulls, ignored the bombardnt of the coastal defense guns and slamd heavily against the breakwater of the dock.

"A madman... he really is a madman..."

Colonel Yamada's face turned deathly pale.

This tactic is completely contrary to the common sense of naval warfare!

Even if it ans injuring a thousand enemies while losing eight hundred of their own, they will still get people ashore!

"Quickly! Order all garrison troops to imdiately construct a defensive line at the dock!"

"We absolutely cannot let them breach the port!"

"And another thing! Requesting support from the war zone!"
