On the west corner of the floating Tournant Island, inside the ground floor of a four-storey building, two Alpha Chosen sat side by side in the common room.

“Lil Snout, only the two of us are left,” Big Snout said in a dejected tone.

Big Snout was a bulky beast-kin with the head of a brown hound. His muzzle was broad, and short brown fur covered his muscular body, with his furry tail rested behind the chair as he leaned forward.

“We’re lucky we even qualified for the final tournant. From what they’re saying, the Bloodline Realm is quite dangerous. We might not make it out alive. How about we drop out? As long as we’re alive, there will be other chances.”

Lil Snout sat beside him, his appearance similar but leaner and tad bit shorter. His tail flicked once behind him as he listened.

He fell silent for a mont, thinking it through. In the end, he shook his head.

“This is a once-in-a-lifeti chance to obtain a Bloodline. If we miss it, we may never get another opportunity. This could be our way out of diocrity.

Besides, didn’t the faction give each of us one Grade-7 and three Grade-6 Protection Charms, plus five Grade-6 Teleportation Charms? With those, even if we face danger, we can escape.”

Big Snout gave a weak nod. He was grateful to be part of Orion Vanguard. The faction had provided every participant with expensive life-saving Charms free of cost.

But he had watched his teammates die one after another in the Trial World. Those mories still lingered, preventing him from braving himself up.

They were among the weaker group on Tournant Island. Their odds of dying in the Bloodline Realm were high. He did not want to gamble their lives again.

He wanted to say that out, but he felt ashad to show cowardice, especially as the elder one.

He then said softly, “How about this? You drop out. I’ll go in alone. If I don’t make it back, at least our planet will still have you. And who knows, maybe luck might be on my side.”

Big Snout lowered his head. He knew Lil Snout had already decided. Persuading him would not change anything. It was not his place to deny him this opportunity.

After a long silence, Big Snout slowly nodded. He then took out the life-saving Charms provided by the faction and placed them into Lil Snout’s hands.

“Take these. Your chances of survival will be higher. They’ll only be wasted on . Ah… wait. Have these too.”
