Ery was slightly surprised to hear that the rebel leader actually knew his na, but it was to be expected. His identity was registered when he joined the escort task.
If they were really determined, anyone could just go to the Wolf Guild and, with a little bit of effort, be able to find out who he was.
It was unfortunate for the rebel leader that Evan was not Ery's real na nor his identity, and as such he was indifferent to whatever consequences – good or bad – that followed.
"So what is this all about?" The man asked Ery. "What do visitors like you want with us?!"
Taking a sip of his drink, Ery looked at him and calmly said, "Let's just say that as a visitor, I need all the help I can get to survive on this planet."
Hearing such an answer, the rebel leader let out a chuckle. It lasted for a few monts before he stopped and said, "So you're saying you want to be my friend?" Glancing at the tavern entrance, he stared down at Ery as he added, "By capturing my n?"
Unfazed by those words, Ery said, "Well… Think of it like a demonstration of our skills." Taking another sip, he looked at the man and flashed a faint smile.
The rugged man was amused by Ery's reply. Realizing the latter was talking in a circle, he firmly said, "That's enough. Tell what exactly you want or I am out of here."
Ery gazed at the man, "You are Tidus the Chain Breaker, aren't you? The slave who had turned into the leader of the rebels. The reason I'm looking for you is to see if we can help each other on this particular matter."
The man scoffed at Ery's words. It was clear he was skeptical, the words he spoke next only made it more obvious. "Hah! Visitors like you always ca with an agenda. Just tell , which faction do you belong to?"
"I have no faction behind . As for my agenda, it's pure hatred of slavery."
Tidus looked Ery in the eye and it seed he saw sothing he recognized. He nodded his head in understanding. "I see, it's revenge then… I know a lot of people like you, but my answer is still no."
"I do not trust you." He said as he stared into Ery's eyes.
Seeing the man was getting defensive, Ery heaved a sigh saying, "I understand that trust has to be earned. So what do I have to do? I want to prove to you that I am sincere in this, so we can work together towards the sa goal."
The rough-looking man thought for a mont. He then glanced at Morgana and back to Ery saying, "I've actually seen you fight before, at Silvermane Palace. It was quite interesting, you are a mythical wolf, aren't you?"
There was no need to deny such facts, hence Ery nodded.
However, hearing such words, he stood up and said, "Perhaps not, but we will see."
Those were the last words Tidus said, before he turned around and casually walked out of the tavern. As his figure disappeared behind the tavern door, Yoro spoke to Ery.
"What does it an, Chief? Did he just agree or not?"
Ery shook his head, not really sure himself.
The Chain Breaker rebels, Tidus, might only have dozens of mbers, but they actually had millions of followers, who would imdiately join the cause following the man's words. Such a number was enough to beco the fourth power, rivaling the three big factions.
Yoro and the Sandune Wolf were one of those followers. When he discovered the surviving Sandune Wolf Clan was helped by these rebels, Ery was very interested in eting the man. Hence their current situation.
Ery understood it would not be easy to gain the trust of soone like Tidus, so he was quite satisfied with how their first eting had gone. However, his silence provoked a reaction from Morgana, who had been observing the eting.
She looked at Ery with a serious look, "Let go after him. I'll make sure to make him change his mind."
"…"
Knowing the red-haired girl was completely serious, Ery quickly shook his head and said, "No. It's fine, Morgana. Let's not do anything like that."
To be honest, right now Ery didn't have an urgent need to cooperate with the rebels. He simply thought of this eting as sowing seeds for the future; it may or may not sprout. Either way, he had inford the other party of his intentions and the rest was up to him.
Of course, it would be ideal if he agreed with his proposal. After all, if he was really going to fight with a huge faction like Corvin, he would need as many allies as he could get.
As a precaution so this eting wouldn't backfire, Ery made sure he did not say anything about his hatred for Corvin or the Sandune Wolf people, who were currently in their care. So all in all, it was a good first encounter.
The group returned to Ery's residence and what greeted them there was another shock.
Another beautiful red-haired girl was already waiting for Ery.
Annara finally returned and he was glad to see her after she had left for almost a month. When she saw the three people around Ery, she said, "Well, I was hoping for more, but this bunch will do for now."
Her gaze was deeply attracted to Morgana. Not only because she was a magus, but also because she looked sowhat similar to her. Turning to Ery, she spoke in a teasing tone. "Did you choose her because you missed ?"
Those words made Morgana throw another judging look at Ery. "Another one.. Really…"
Imdiately after, she replied Annara's curious look with an intimidating stare, which promptly made the bat girl decide to back off.
"This one sure is a feisty one. Don't worry, I don't wish to fight." Annara said with a teasing smile. She then looked toward Ery and said.
"I've co to bring you a surprise present. Took a while to find him, so you better be grateful to . I'm certain he will help you win the Royal Hunt."
When he heard that, Ery finally realized there was soone else waiting inside. A male figure, not a magus. There was a distinct aura coming from the man, followed by a familiar scent. When he got closer, what was waiting for him was a familiar white-beared old man.
"Chief Beowlf!"
