Chapter 253: Execution

"I've seen this in a horror film!"

"Oh, I think I've seen it too."

"The car roof, like a tin can lid···."

-I jumped when he tore off the roof lol

-If that were I would've just scread

-Fr lol I would've leapt right out of my seat

-Hackphysical on top of a car is genuinely terrifying lol

"Honestly, finding Woohyun there when the lid gets torn off is scarier than finding a monster there. Agree?"

""Agreed.""

***

Swwk.

Before the ambushed enemies could even attempt any resistance.

Baek Woohyun, moving one step ahead, shoved the upper half of his body into the vehicle's interior. Precisely speaking, it was only his upper body—but regardless.

To the enemies, having only the upper half enter was probably even more terrifying than him coming in fully. Because it, too, was staging straight out of a horror film.

In truth, Baek Woohyun found this sowhat unjust. He had simply chosen the most efficient option.

Why bother going fully inside the vehicle and killing them the troubleso way, when he could lean in halfway and finish it quickly—that was all.

It was not sothing he needed to consider how his actions would appear to the enemies.

Shwaak!

Then Baek Woohyun's two arms swung like whips.

An attack launched with killing intent by the owner of a supernatural ability build—of the close-range type, with all resources invested specifically in physical enhancent—carried trendous force.

It was even astonishingly fast. To ordinary eyes, his arms had simply gone white and vanished.

Among those inside the vehicle there were Awakeners of their own, but not one of them managed to properly respond to his attack.

He had struck with a surprise attack from the very start, and had scattered their focus with an entrance and staging that looked as though a scene from a horror film had been cut out and pasted directly in front of them.

Supernatural ability is, by nature, based on the power of the mind. In other words—when concentration is lost, one cannot even bring out one's true strength.

"Sto—···!"

Kwadeudeuk!

His two arms, sweeping in circles, tapped the enemies inside the vehicle one by one in sequence. To the outside eye, at least, that is how it appeared.

When a large predator like a tiger, lion, or bear playfully taps sothing, it strikes humans as trendously threatening.

How much more so an attack launched with killing intent by a Superhuman with a body transcending that of a human.

In the end, all but the one holding the steering wheel died with their heads twisted around.

A natural result, given that the attacks themselves were grounded in physical strength capable of uprooting an entire building and hurling it—not an ounce of exaggeration.

In the midst of it all, the most the one who appeared to be the unit leader could do was shout for them to block. Whether that even constitutes resistance is debatable.

'That ca out clean.'

Had Baek Woohyun wished it, the one at the wheel would have t the sa end. One look at the fate of the one who had been in the passenger seat made that obvious.

The reason he left the driver alive rather than doing so was to prevent further chaos from breaking out. An uncontrolled vehicle could crash into anything.

Whether that was good news for the driver—well, that was another matter.

"Hrrr···!"

The driver, who had abruptly ended up as the sole survivor, let out a frightened whimper. He had surely grasped what the silence following those twisting sounds ant.

The trusted comrades he had relied on had all been killed in less than a single second—cold sweat seeped damply across his back at that fact.

What was even more terrifying to him was that the monster who had done all of it had spoken from above, shalessly issuing a command.

"Pull over sowhere appropriate."

"A-alright!"

Easing onto the shoulder without obstructing the flow of other vehicles—and as slowly as possible—the driver's mind was a tangle.

Would a monster that had slaughtered his comrades in a single instant truly let him go simply because he had complied with one demand?

Naturally, the answer that surfaced in his mind was negative. From the very beginning it had co in to kill without a word—there was no reason it would spare him just because he had driven.

"—Hah!"

Pajijik!

That was why the driver chose to attack the mont he brought the vehicle to a stop. If death was inevitable regardless, at least to struggle in defiance.

Checking the rear-view mirror under the pretense of parking to confirm the target's position, the right arm he raised in a flash and the lightning that erupted from it were quite fast and sharp.

The only misfortune for him was that the target he aid for was Baek Woohyun.

Baek Woohyun lightly twisted his torso swk and avoided the desperate last strike without a word.

As always, there was no reason to waste ti trading words with soone who was going to die at his hands anyway.

He carried out the driver's death—briefly deferred to prevent chaos on the road—by lightly snapping his hand out and smashing the man's head.

Udeuk!

'That's one group handled.'

Having dealt with two researchers and four Awakeners in a short span of ti, Baek Woohyun kicked off the vehicle and leaped upward.

He had no concern for the vehicle left behind—roof torn off, six corpses remaining. The agents monitoring the area would take care of the cleanup themselves.

He could sense the presence of those who had been watching from a distance drawing near, so there was no hesitation in his movent as he left the scene of the slaughter behind.

It was not for nothing that he had used his bare hands to twist their necks rather than the military dagger. That was his consideration for those who would clean up afterward.

Clearing out corpses with severed heads and a blood-soaked car interior would be far harder—this was a much simpler cleanup.

Whether the agents approaching the car he had left would appreciate his consideration—that he did not know.

'Next—'

Baek Woohyun moved on, checking the enemies' real-ti positions being shared by Lee Yujin through his smartphone.

Smartphone in one hand, glancing at it, while leaping from rooftop to rooftop—his speed remained swift throughout.

It was a sight that rendered moot any advisory about not using a smartphone while moving. Setting aside whether ultra-high-speed free-running even counts as moving.

And if checking his smartphone while doing ultra-high-speed free-running would have been enough to draw admiration on its own, he did not stop there.

Once he felt he was getting close to the enemies' position, he even began scanning his surroundings to locate them—all while maintaining the prior two actions without break.

It was multitasking that seed impossible without having two or three brains.

[I know Hackphysical can do anything, but seeing that is wild lol]

-Running insanely fast across buildings while checking his phone and also finding enemies lmao

-Basically not human fr

-The new human race embodied lol

-Even knowing he's like a circus act you still find it wild when you actually see it lol, exactly that kind of feeling

"Small things like this are more remarkable than when he fights all flashy. Maybe because it's easy to imagine 'could I do that if it were ?'"

"For combat-related things there's just such an earth-and-sky gap between us and Hackphysical that you don't quite get that feeling."

-Fr fr

-And that one looks like sothing that could be learned

-Maybe he'll at least share tips soday

-Hurry up and bring the twins on, let's do a broadcast where we get so basic tips

'There they are.'

Agents who had already tailed the targets were updating positions in real ti, and with his exceptional detection ability on top of that, locating the enemies was instantaneous.

Because he had handled the smallest group first, this ti there were two vehicles. Two large SUVs at that—larger than the first group he had dealt with.

They were packed full of personnel as well—combined, it was well over twenty people. Not an easily manageable number to wipe out all at once.

Of course, that would be the case for an ordinary player. A different standard would need to apply to an out-of-spec monster like Baek Woohyun.

Indeed, on the face of Baek Woohyun giving chase to the two large SUVs, there was not a trace of difficulty. As if it made no difference whether there were many enemies or few.

The gap between the two vehicles, having to fight in the cramped vehicle interiors, ten people on alert inside each—none of it was any particular obstacle to him.

'Going.'

The ti it took from landing on the first vehicle, tearing off its roof, and eliminating all ten enemies inside—barely a few seconds.

Before the other side could even register that sothing was wrong, Baek Woohyun had already taken off and dealt with the second vehicle's enemies in exactly the sa manner, in almost the sa amount of ti.

The enemies had been wiped out before they could even count to ten in their heads. Even in terms of headcount alone, there had been more than that number of them.

Kwaaang—!

······One unfortunate point was that this ti, due to the speed of it, he had not been able to make the effort of keeping a driver alive to minimize the accident.

Having dealt with the drivers without rcy, the two vehicles that lurched out of control eventually collided with each other and caused an accident.

That the scale of the accident was not large—thanks to the trailing vehicles imdiately backing off upon seeing the lead vehicles in poor condition—was at least so consolation.

Even so, the reason he was not particularly worried was that he knew the agents trailing behind them had moved swiftly into cleanup once again.

They worked with practiced ease—taking control of the accident scene and preventing any potential traffic jam from forming. Their proficiency was impressive enough to draw genuine admiration.

Baek Woohyun, standing on a rooftop railing and looking down at that scene, nodded once—then began moving again.

Kwadeuk.

'Is that the last of them?'

The last—for now—third group was actually easier to deal with than the two previous groups. That was thanks to them having set up a proper base and holed up inside.

Taking down enemies moving by vehicle required attending to various considerations, but enemies gathered in a single base only needed to be killed.

As if shaking off the sensation transmitted through his grip—that of bones being ground to splinters—Baek Woohyun released the enemy's neck and swept his gaze around.

Inside the fairly neatly furnished base, scattered among the fallen corpses, the vengeful spirits stood silently.

On their faces—hollow, gaunt, with streaks of blood-tears running down—was a joy that even those things could not conceal. An expression only those drunk on revenge could wear.

Had smiling been permitted to them, they would surely have been wearing bitterly cold sneers by now.

"······."

Ttiring—

"···Hm?"

A brief while of letting the vengeful spirits enjoy their joy—to outside eyes, simply standing still.

Baek Woohyun took out his smartphone in response to a notification that rang from inside his pocket and checked its contents. The sender was, of course, Lee Yujin.

She was the person who would best know where he was and what he was doing right now.

[Sender: Lee Yujin

I've found a few more groups that are newly joining up—

will you be handling those directly as well?]

"······."

When Baek Woohyun looked up again after scanning the ssage, the gazes of the vengeful spirits drifting around him had all converged on him.

As if asking when they had ever been gleefully staring down at the research facility people's corpses—their eyes, blazing with fury, spoke a aning that was far too clear.

Baek Woohyun replied 'Of course. Please send the coordinates,' then imdiately set off—sensing the vengeful spirits falling in close behind him.
