No matter if the original target was only Edward Quinn, now that Mabel has been hard as well, he has to investigate this matter thoroughly.
The thought alone was enough to make cold sweat break out all over him.
Suddenly, her complexion changed, and she urgently leaned over the trash can beside the hospital bed and started to vomit.
He quickly patted her back gently, helping her breathe more easily. She vomited for quite a while before finally stopping. He helped her by pouring a glass of water for her to rinse her mouth, then cleaned up her vomit.
"Are you still feeling unwell?" he asked.
"Much better," she said, noticing his slightly furrowed brows, and continued, "It’s just morning sickness. It’s quite common in the early stages of pregnancy. I’ve vomited several tis before, and at that ti, I thought it was impossible for to be pregnant. I really didn’t expect... I’m really pregnant. We’re really going to have a child."
If not for the car accident, she might be very happy now. On this very day, joyful and painful things occurred simultaneously. And now, her greatest hope is that her uncle can wake up and get better.
"This child is also actually saved by my uncle’s sacrifice." She lowered her head, gently placing her hand on her belly. It’s so miraculous that there’s already a new life here. "I hope I can safely give birth to the child, and I hope my uncle can wake up soon and see the child he saved with his own eyes."
"What if I say I don’t want this child?" The serene voice suddenly echoed in the room, making Mabel Quinn freeze and then look up in shock at the person in front of her.
"What did you say?" she asked in disbelief, wondering if she had misheard.
"Can we not have this child?" he slowly bent down, his gaze level with hers as she sat on the bed. "Mabel, I never intended to have a child. This pregnancy was an accident. Can we abort the child? We will still live well without a child."
She could hardly believe what he was saying. He... he doesn’t want this child?! "You an... you want to abort our child?" Her voice was trembling.
Clearly, he was so close at this mont, yet she felt as though she couldn’t see him clearly.
"Yes." His hand gently caressed her face, his movents so tender. "This child doesn’t need to exist. Just the two of us, isn’t that good? Didn’t you say that even if we never have children our entire life, you would still stay by my side and love ?"
His expression appeared so tender and indulgent, his eyes enchanting, and his voice was deep and husky, seductively srising.
But his words felt like the sharpest ice skate, piercing her all over, hurting far more than the injuries she suffered from the car accident. "Yes, I said that if, in our entire life, we didn’t have children, I would still be with you, but now things are different. Now that I’m already pregnant, don’t you want to see our child born?"
"There’s no need for a child between you and ." His voice softened even more.
"Why... why?" She asked, her lips trembling.
